The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to work on revised schedules for examinations.
Amid the extension of nationwide lockdown due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus, the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to work on revised CBSE exam dates 2020.
According to a ministry senior official, all offices of MHRD and its autonomous institutions & subordinate offices shall remain closed for a period of 3 weeks, in compliance of the order dated 24.3.2020. He further stated that all officials and staff shall be working from home during this period. All financial matters related to releases, particularly clearance of pensions and salaries will be ensured by Bureau heads and Division heads.
Meanwhile, CBSE will be working on the revised examination schedule of CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th board exams. The Board will be releasing a revised CBSE 10th date sheet and CBSE 12th date sheet. The ministry also directed the autonomous bodies and NCERT to draft alternate academic calendars.
Also, for class 12 students, the ministry directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to make preparations for JEE (Joint Entrance Examination).
Earlier, The CBSE, in an official release, announced that the CBSE 10th exams, as well as the CBSE 12th exams, scheduled between March 19 and March 31, are postponed and will now be rescheduled after March 31. Re-examinations for the students situated in the Northeast district of Delhi will also be notified thereafter. However, now with the 21 days nationwide lockdown, it is evident that examinations are not going to happen any time before April 15. In order to control the spread of contagious coronavirus, the PM announced the lockdown on March 24 and advised people to practice social distancing by staying inside their homes.
