Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the schools will re-open across the country after August, possibly even after August 15. However, the decision regarding the same will be taken after a thorough discussion with health and home ministries.

Union Minister of Human Resource and Development said that the schools across the country will re-open after August, possibly even after August 15, 2020. "We are trying to get declared all the results from the examinations this session by August 15," said the Minister in an interview.

Earlier, it was thought that the schools would open in July, once the pending exams for Class 10 and 12 are finished. Around 33 crore students have been waiting for school reopening news to dispel their doubts.

While speaking to a media house, he said that the final decision regarding the same will be taken after knowing the ground situation at the time and the views of the health and the home ministries.

The gradual easing of the lockdown across the country has raised hopes about the reopening of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions.

CBSE would be conducting the CBSE 10th Board Exam 2020 and CBSE 12th Board Exams 2020 in the month of July i.e. is from July 1 to July 15.

When asked about how the exams will be held in July, when reports suggest that the number of coronavirus cases in the country will peak during that time, the minister said:" It is difficult to predict what will happen in July. But, will abide by the home ministry and the health ministry decision. The safety of students will be paramount."

"I am confident the situation will be normal. If it doesn't get better, the department will consult the ministry, student, parents. After taking all the suggestions the decision will be taken," the minister added.

Giving a rough timeline, he said the pending board exams will be held in July and university exams in August. The final year students will appear for exams. Students of the first and second year will be promoted on the basis of internal assessment.

In mid-March schools across the country were shut as a preventive measure to contain further spread of coronavirus.
