Alpha Arts and Science College, Chennai - Good for B.Sc.?

Based on the reviews and comments from students and alumni, here's what we can conclude:

    * Placements: While some students reported decent placements, others stated that the placements were limited, mainly consisting of BPO jobs and lower-paying positions. However, some students received internships and higher-paying job offers (up to INR3 Lacs per annum).
    * Infrastructure: The college has an average infrastructure, with compact classrooms, outdated lab equipment, and limited amenities. Some students appreciated the library and the availability of Wi-Fi, while others found these facilities subpar.
    * Teaching and Faculty: Most students praised the faculty, describing them as knowledgeable, approachable, and willing to help. However, some noted that the curriculum could use updates and more emphasis on practical learning.
    * Campus Life: Student life seems generally pleasant, with regular events, a good sports culture, and a relatively peaceful environment. However, some students expressed disappointment with the lack of recreational activities and cultural festivals.
    * Course Specificities: Electronics and Communications Engineering is a popular course, offering opportunities in both hardware and software fields. However, some students felt that the curriculum was too focused on theory and lacked hands-on learning experiences.

Overall, while Alpha Arts and Science College has its strengths, such as dedicated faculty and a decent campus environment, it falls short in terms of infrastructure and placements. Students seeking a more well-rounded education might consider alternative options.

Here's a summary in bullet points:

    * Limited placements, mostly in BPOs or lower-paying jobs
    * Average infrastructure with compact classrooms and outdated labs
    * Knowledgeable and approachable faculty, but outdated curriculum
    * Pleasant campus environment with regular events and sports culture
    * Course focuses on theory, lacking hands-on learning experiences

I am dissatisfied with placements, curriculum, infrastructure, etc.
Placements: Almost every student got placed. They place students in call centres or bank jobs. I studied electronics and communication, but no electronic company came here for recruitment. I got placed at Cognizant through bulk hiring.
Infrastructure: It's a very small college. It consists of 1 block and 3 floors. The canteen is not good. Only brinji rice will be good. Our classroom is the smallest in the whole college. The fans don't work most of the time. Even if they work, you will feel the same. The ground is good.
Faculty: Faculty members are good. They have the potential to do more. The curriculum is very basic. It won't get you placed in a core company because you will not have any practical knowledge. Exams are very easy.

It is the best guiding college in Chennai so don't miss it and I am proud to be a part of it.
Placements: About 70% of students were present in my batch. It was the best technical course where we can work in both the hardware and software fields. Top recruiting companies for our course are Wipro and Cosmo One, and so on. About 50% of students were placed in different industries in different roles.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good and gives importance to sports, NSS, and NCC-like social programming. We have free Wi-Fi and lab facilities on campus. Mainly, the mess is extraordinary.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are very friendly and loveable. They are the people who made my life different. Teachers are perfect as mentioned before. It's a low price course and from this, we can gain more profit later.
Other: Everything is okay in our college and I miss our college. It is a place where my life started to shine more and my career started. Our friends, staff members, HOD, and everyone were very loveable people and I miss those people. Cultural will be extraordinary and enjoyable. I have no words to explain. We were the corona batch so we did not enjoy it more but sometimes, we enjoyed it. Life has to move on because everything is temporary so be humble and pass on.

Absolutely satisfied because of good faculty.
Placements: Our college gives assurance to the students that we will get 100% placements. So I got extra hope. But in the last semester, only 3 companies came for placements and the rest of the companies were BPOs and other companies. If you want to go for a job in BPO you can directly go with the 12th standard why should we have to study UG.
Infrastructure: In the lab, they have 20 computers. But working computers are 8 only. We have to share and there is no Wi-Fi for students, only teachers have it. Computers are not of advanced version. They should buy computers. It is like a old college.
Faculty: Exams are easy to write because they teach very well. Whenever I went to the exam I need not study because I learned all the things in the class. So I need not revise the potion, and it was easy to write the exam. If we concentrate in the class, it is easy to write exams.

Our college helped me to become a graduate with interpersonal skills.
Placements: If you have above 60% of marks in your 12th and don't have backlogs, then you will get lots of opportunities from Alpha Arts and Science College and Engineering College. The salary offered varies from Rs. 10,000 to 35,000 per month in companies, including BPOs and service-based IT sector companies.
Infrastructure: There is a hostel with average food opposite the college building. Sports and activities are according to your involvement in activities. Our college has a common library for all departments, which is really useful if you want to learn deep about your syllabus.
Faculty: The faculty members here will provide 100% if you want to get ahead in your profession. The syllabus up to 2020 was really old and not updated. If you don't have any knowledge, then it may look satisfying. All real-world skills have to be learned only by your personal interest.
Other: If you maintain a good relationship with the department, you can participate in all possible competitions and events.

Teachers are very friendly satisfied with facilities.
Placements: Only 10 percentage of students were placed in my course. Highesh package- 3.5lks per annum. The lowest - 1.4 lacs per annum. Average - 2 lacs per annum. Top companies like Wipro, Infosys, cognizant, Sutherland are the companies came for recruitment. Roles offered like graduate trainee, software testing, process associate trainee, programmer etc.
Infrastructure: Average infrastructure. With well maintained labs and silent library. Quality of food in canteen is poor. There are many sports activities like basketball, football, volleyball, cricket etc. Medical facilities is not enough. Only first aid kit is maintained.
Faculty: Teachers are well trained and helpful for students in teaching. Quality of teaching is good. Semester exams are much easier. Pass percentage is 40/100. Extra curriculum activities is not good. Once a year there will be a annual day. It will be a intercollege competition.

Honestly, it is a school in the name of college.
Placements: In this college, the placements are average. Only startup companies and a few MNCs come here for placements. In my batch, the recruiters were Justdial, Sutherland, Hexaware, and some BPO companies. Don't expect companies like TCS, Infosys, and IBM to come here.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is below average. Food available in the mess is overrated. Sports is good. Classrooms are average. No AC is available. There is only one building for all departments. The campus is very small, like a school. The dress code is semi-formal, and it is a co-education college.
Faculty: Some of the faculty members are good in my department. They take good care of us. Teaching quality is above average in my department. Lab facilities are good with air-conditioners. They are friendly with students. We can easily interact with them. We can get a lot more positive feedback.
Other: Don't expect extracurricular activities in this college. My school conducted much better events, programs, and fests compared to this college. I will rate it 2 out of 5.
