B.Sc.(Hons) in Geography - Batch of 2025
4.4
3Placements4Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
The best college in Guwahati Assam as it provides the best campus, faculty and infrastructure.
Placements: My college name is Cotton University, and it has a very big campus, and the geography department is one of the best depths on campus. We have a total of 40 students in our batch. The highest package is about 80 to 90000 per month, and the lowest is about 40 to 50000 per month. About 30 to 40 percent of the students get placements in our college in companies like Microsoft, Java+, etc. Top roles are in library and Science, biotech, BCA, etc.
Infrastructure: Cotton University has about 4 boys hostels and 3 girls hostels. There is proper food given by the hostel, and the mess fee per month is only 1800 rs. The infrastructure facilities are above average. The hostel is very close to the college, which makes it better for students.
Faculty: The college faculty is very good; many of them speak in Assamese, but let us know that if we're residing in Assam, then it is compulsory to learn Assamese. In my department there are about 20 to 30 faculty members, which is very friendly, and the curriculum and exam are used to be held very smoothly.

Satisfactory with qualified teachers .
Placements: I personally don't find the placement cell of the university of much use. Though it is a good state university but not many students get placed across different courses. The average package offered to undergraduate student was INR 5.4 LPA in 2022. The placement performance of the university fails to compliment the reputation of the university.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure for my department is quite good but it could be much better. Our department library has mostly all the required books and materials and teachers are also helpful. However, the classroom and hostel facility needs improvement.
Faculty: The teachers are really helpful and knowledgeable in my course and their teaching quality is also commendable. The course curriculum is quite relevant and exams are also conducted timely. However the result declaration takes a lot of time which needs to be improved.
Other: I chose this course because I was always interested and passionate about studying Economics and it aligns with my career goals as well. I believe it will grant me with skills and knowledge required for my future opportunities. There are many events organised occasionally in our department which helps us grow personally and professionally.

The Best Govt University in Assam is Cotton! Best place to explore the political Or cultural fields.
Placements: Unfortunately, the placement cell was inactive until 2023. I was in the Economics department. Psychology and a few other departments started getting internships (both paid and unpaid) from the 5th semester onwards. Most of the students from my batch got placed in HDFC Bank in the last semester.
Infrastructure: The department has been trying its best to expand its materials in the depth library. There are not enough classrooms for the students pursuing Masters. Plus, the rooms are too small with a capacity of around 30 students. Hostels have a good environment.
Faculty: I was an enthusiastic student taking part in varsity selection protests everything but the previous HOD was against it. Luckily, the new HOD supports students to go beyond studies! The 3rd sem was the most difficult Of all! So will be the 1st sem if you're from a CBSE background.
Other: Campus life was good. You'll find mostly selection candidates And hostellers “appealing” Canteens are good too. The placement cell had been inactive until now. Varsity week is the biggest festival along with daily music fests!

Satisfied with the professors, library environment, and the curriculum.
Placements: The placement process is being developed day by day. Even two of my good friends got placed in ICICI bank this time. Apparently, many others got placed in different places, such as HDFC Bank, International schools, etc. Studying in Cotton University will give you a better chance for placement.
Infrastructure: The economics department is one of the best departments in the university. Facilities are good and professors are very friendly. Software knowledge such as Stata and R is also provided in the department. If one has a keen interest in research, then also CU is one of the best options in Assam.
Faculty: Professors are helpful and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is also good. The course curriculum is good, focusing on both theories and mathematics. If one studies well, he/she can easily score a good CGPA. Everything is fine. If you are interested in the research field, then it's also good to be at Cotton University.

4Placements4Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Infrastructure of the Cotton College is good.
Placements: Around 60–70% of students were placed in the BSc course. The highest package offered is around 6-7 lakhs. The lowest is 3-4 lakhs and averages are around 4-5 lakhs per annum, if I am not wrong. Top recruiters are IT giants, FMGC and many more. May be more than 10% of students have gotten internships on FMGC. Science students are placed in top companies like Indian Oil and ISRO companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of science departments is really good. There are free WiFi networks inside campus for students. Labs of science departments have separate laboratories for UG, PG and HS students. All the essential equipment is available to support students in their research and experiments. The college has a central library with more than 1 lakh volumes, including reference books. Every department has its own library. Facilities of hostels are average. Mess foods are improving these days. There is a college hospital near hotels for emergencies. For sports, games and other cultural programs, it's very active and impressive. It's really good for students to sharpen their skills.
Faculty: Teachers here are strict and also very friendly and always helpful. There are more than 10 PhD holders who have teaching experience. They use multiple languages to make the students understandable because of diversity on classes. In science courses, the curriculum is regularly updated to ensure relevance. Yes, it makes students industry-ready. Semester exams difficulty level are based on own efforts. Passing percentage for semester exams is 40%.
Other: I chose this course because it will give me a better placement in future. The best thing in botany is that we can know deeply about this earth-living plants and their uses. It would be better if the classroom are bigger. Events held on Cotton University are really best; it's crowded with students. Campus is really close to nature; support eco-friendly things and campus is clean.

Great faculty, excellent culture, prominent infrastructure .
Placements: The placement cell of our university needs to run much more smoothly in order to encourage more students' employment and their welfare. Although the cell is actively working, the percentage of placements provided is supposed low. They need to be more efficient towards the goal.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure of our department have been improving lately. But the growing generation and their needs are much different than before, to meet those the department must work more on its infrastructure and other facilities. Other facilities available such as food, health, sports etc. Are sufficient as of now.
Faculty: The faculty of our college is very active, helpful and knowledgeable. They are ready to help their students whenever in need. The course we're studying are of great help indeed. Students gain knowledge about the history and evolution of language, literature and many more. The semester exams are not so difficult if prepared nicely.
Other: According to me, the course I've been pursuing is of great efficiency, it'd be excellent for someone who's interested in literature and lovers reading. Overall, the college is performing well but needs more efficiency in terms of infrastructure, health etc. Our college is best known for its cultural excellence and extracurricular activities are sufficient encouraging.
