Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.Sc. programs at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College?

    A:
    {Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.Sc. Programs

    * Limited Placements: Many students reported that there were no placements offered by the college for B.Sc. programs, except for a few instances where students managed to secure internships or placements through external means.
    * Placement Cell Not Active Enough: Some students mentioned that the placement cell was not very active, and notifications were not sent regularly to students about potential job openings.
    * Students Had to Take Initiative: Students had to take initiative to look for placements and internships, and rely on the university placement cell for assistance.
    * No Specific Placements for Computer Science: One student specifically mentioned that none of the reputed companies visited the campus for placements, and those interested in computer Science had to pursue placements independently.

Overall, it seems that the placement cell at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College may require improvement to effectively assist students in securing placements and internships, particularly for B.Sc. programs.

Q:   How are BSc placements at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College?

    A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, placements for undergraduate courses like BA, BCom or BSc are definitely not like placements after graduation in engineering. This is so because it is considered that after engineering majority of the students will look for a job while for other streams of graduations, majority of students may look for doing post graduation in some specialised area. As a result of this it is nightmare to come to conclusion based on this statistics. In the case of DDU under Delhi University the data is not available for different streams of under graduation but this club under single heading called under graduate students. Total number of students place or short of hundred out of about 800 students who pass out. But interesting aspect is that more than two and half times the number of students placed or not even looking for response but see admission for higher studies. Whenever a student who is intending to do BSc most look at this aspect and not get swayed by figures of placements.
To help you understand I am attaching link that will give you an overall picture of placements in this college.

I am really satisfied with the college infrastructure, not with college ground.
Placements: Placements are fine if we really want to get placed. By fine, I mean around 30%-40% of students got placed if they tried. Attending all workshops, working on their skills, and especially their communication skills helps. Companies for B.Com and BMS students provide an upper hand. Around 70% get placed.
Infrastructure: I can't say about the hostel since I never stayed there, but since they are new, one can expect them to be really clean and functioning. It's just a 2-minute walk from the college and inside the campus only. I can't say about mess food, but canteen is cheap and there is Amul dairy too. College infrastructure is very good with air conditioner classrooms.
Faculty: Some teachers are good, others are not. At the end of the day, students would have to study themselves. If students have doubts, then they can help them out, but don't expect anybody to spoon-feed students. If students are not attending classes, their marks will be deducted not just from their attendance marks but also from internal and practical marks. There would be times when teachers won't write recommendations for them if students are not in their good books.
Other: Since it is DU college, it has lot of societies and events. I was a part of the Debating society (it is pretty good one) and Optizone MS society. Other really good societies are Kalamkaar (writing society), Drama society, Dance society, Music society, Finance, NSS, etc. There are many societies and lot of them are pretty active and good.

Good infrastructure with average hostel and campus life.
Placements: Only students of commerce, computer science, and management got placed. The average package is around 4-6 LPA, to my knowledge. The highest is 11 LPA and the lowest is 2.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are mainly TCS, Accenture, and other management companies. My course students didn't get any internship or placement.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is far better compared to any other colleges of the University of Delhi. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. The library is very vast, and there is a separate library for teachers and students. Classrooms are well-equipped with air conditioning and projectors. Labs are also well-equipped with the best quality instruments. The quality of food in the hostel mess is average compared to the price. So, I think choosing a PG or flat nearby is feasible. The ground is very small, but there is a sports complex in the college. Medical facilities are below average.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, all are Ph.D. qualified, and very knowledgeable. The curriculum is based on NEP, so it is relevant and makes the students industry-ready. Value addition and skill enhancement courses are available. The semester exams are very difficult for science students as you have to undergo many things like practical files, assignments, presentations, practical exams, and theory exams. Practical exams are very hectic for me personally. The pass percentage is 100 percent in my course as all students are hardworking and good in studies.
Other: I chose the course because I am always enthusiastic about biological sciences. The best thing about my course is that it teaches a lot about plants and the environment. There are more than 15 societies in the college, and many fests and events are arranged by them throughout the year. The annual fest is Kalrav, which is good. Scholarships are provided by the college and university for needy students.

Review of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College.
Placements: This college is situated in Dwarka, making it an off-campus college. Hence, not many companies visit this college for placement. Students have to visit north campus colleges for interviews to secure jobs and get any placement. Hence, this college is not a good choice if you are looking for an on-campus job placement.
Infrastructure: One of the positives of this college is it's infrastructure. I got one of the best infrastructures at Delhi University. The building is good and clean. For my course, we got 3 labs, well-cleaned classes and smartboards. All rooms have AC. Hostels also have good rooms and all the basic necessities are available in hostels.
Faculty: The faculty of Deen Dayal College is really good. Teachers are well-qualified and well-mannered. All staff are also good at their work. The curriculum for the course is well designed, with theory and practical classes for proper understanding of concepts. Not many exams are conducted so no extra pressure is put on students.

    Unhappy with the placements.
Placements: Being an off-campus college, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College does not provide on-campus placements. Therefore, you need to sharpen your skills and promote yourself on sites like LinkedIn in order to get a job somewhere. The salary packages range from 2-3 LPA, and less than 15% of students get placed. Not many companies visit the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure at my college is really good. There is a spacious library, and the classrooms are big and air-conditioned. The labs are well-equipped, and the canteen serves above-average food.
Faculty: The teachers are very cooperative and helpful. We can talk to them about any issue and they are ready to give us their undivided attention. They are friendly and create a comfortable learning environment. The course curriculum is relevant and the semester exams are not that difficult. With decent preparation, you should be able to pass the exams.
Other: The best thing about college life are the festivals. The events are exceptionally well organized.

Good option for B.Sc. in Chemistry Honours.
Placements: Students have the opportunity to volunteer for research and publish research papers under the guidance of faculty members. Good financial incentives are provided for conducting quality research for six months. Various internship programs are also offered during summer vacations and between semesters. Students can interact with experts in specialized fields through seminars and discussions. Certificates are awarded upon successful completion of internships.
Infrastructure: The Chemistry department at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College (DDUC) is commendable. Classrooms are well-furnished with quality benches and equipped with podiums and smartboards in select rooms. Each classroom has at least two air conditioners, six ceiling lights, and six fans, along with large glass windows for ventilation. There are cameras in every classroom for monitoring. The Chemistry department has three large laboratories, all located on the ground floor, with all necessary apparatus and instruments available for practicals. Fire alarms and cameras are also installed for safety. The college provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls, with rooms shared between two students. Each room is equipped with AC, study tables, proper lighting, and fans. The mess offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food options, and the food quality is satisfactory. The college canteen serves a variety of snacks, packaged food, beverages, South Indian food, thalis, and ice creams, with ample seating and good hygiene.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified and strictly enforce attendance policies. They are punctual and supportive, conducting regular tests and presentations to evaluate students. Internal marks are allocated based on these assessments. The syllabus is completed on time, allowing sufficient preparation time for exams. College exams are of moderate difficulty, with a pass percentage of 94%.
Other: The college provides a peaceful and friendly environment. Annual sports day and the annual fest are celebrated with great enthusiasm, featuring performances by popular singers.

Absolutely worth it, as in this feels like very good quality of learning.
Placements: Actually, the placement is very low just for computer-based courses like B.Sc. (H) Computer Science and companies that offer are also not well recognized, as I had mathematics hons; that's why I don't remember the names. For the mathematics department, usually internships are available of some companies.
Infrastructure: The facilities were average, and the infrastructure was good. The college includes a playground for a few sports and an AC room building with 6 floors with labs, classrooms, and a library. The canteen provides every type of food—North Indian, South Indian, snacks, Chinese, and even quality—above AVG. There is no such medical facility, but yes, coaches are available for a few sports like fencing and basketball, but the playground is small.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, mostly Ph.D. holders, and some are guests. All were really helpful. Yes, the mathematics hons course is really helpful for students who want to be in the corporate sector or defence from a future and present market perspective. Though semester exams are like a level of difficulty according to study pattern or curriculum,.
Other: I chose this course because I was interested in deep learning in mathematics and wanted to do research in mathematics. There are many events held in college, one of which is KALRAV, the annual fest of our college and cultural programmes usually happen. There are also festivals of different courses, like mathematics, which has MATHRIX. surroundings are not highly crowded as compared to either part of Delhi. Scholarships are also available to students who fulfill the criteria. And there are lot of extracurricular activities like sports, drama, stage performances, etc.

    Admission FAQs

Q:   What is the procedure to take BSc admission at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College?

    A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, the procedure or the process of seeking admission in Deen Dayal Upadhyay college of Delhi University is quite simple and straight forward and it is exactly same for seeking admission in any other college under Delhi University. A student needs to register himself on the special portal of Delhi University created for admissions process and is called CSAS or Common Seat Allocation System. After this the student needs to register for CUET examination conducted by National Testing Agency and seek good percentile since admissions invariably close above percentile of 95 in this college.
However to help you further I am attaching a link that will give you in detail the complete procedure of registration for admission in this college before the CUET examination and after the examination.

Q:   Apart from the tuition fee, what are the various components of the DDU BSc fee?

    A:

The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College BSc fee structure comprises many factors. These are tuition fees, hostel fees, registration fees, contingency fees, etc. The registration fee and the contingency fee will be paid once during admission. One-time fee is to be entirely payable at the time of BSc admission, which is INR 1,500. The tuition fee for the BSc course, under DDU, comes to the extent of INR 540. The exact amount to be paid as a fee depends on the choice of specialisation. The above-mentioned fee is taken from the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to change and, hence, indicative.

Q:   What is the cutoff for BSc at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College?

    A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, Deendayal Upadhyay college under Delhi University is quite well known for its academics. It has ranking of 24 which is considered quite good. Due to this, cut offs at this Institute are quite high for all the undergraduate courses that it offers. From different sources that I could go through, the cutoffs in the year 2022 were set between 94 to 96 for different BSc courses which are offered by this college. Cutoffs very every year and it depends on the number of seats available for admission and also the results of the CUET examination. In the year 2023 either the paper was little soft  or the students were now aware of what type of questions are asked and as a result more than 20000 students have scored 100 percentile. Not only this the students who have scored percentile above 95 are more than two and half lakh. Of course this is all India figure and this test is applicable for all the Central University across India and therefore it can be safely assumed that not all the students will come up to colleges under Delhi University.  Be that as it may, this is bound to increase the competition and as a result it is expected that the cutoffs for the year 2023 for BSc courses may increase by one or two percentiles.
    Best wishes to you.

Q:   Which is best in terms of Bsc placement, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College or DU?

    A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, your query is alright but it perhaps begs little more clarity. Let me put it this way. DDU is a college with students, professors coming every day for learning and teaching and is known for its Bsc Course. DU on the other hand is only an administrative entity. It may issue policy, set up syllabus, decide on working hours, holidays etc. But there is no classroom and no student passes out. Of course students do pass out from different colleges affiliated to it. There are few universities which have faculty and specialised courses but these are invariably at level of PG and placements of these students pursuing PG is on a different level than for undergraduate students.
I can not resist the urge to quote "one should not compare oranges with apples"!
    Best wishes to you.

Q:   Is B.Sc. at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

    * Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure, with modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and air-conditioned buildings.
    * Teaching Quality: The faculty is highly qualified, with many Ph.D. holders, and are known for being helpful and supportive.
    * Course Curriculum: The course curriculum is relevant and updated according to industry standards, making students industry-ready.
    * Placement Opportunities: Placement opportunities are limited for B.Sc. students, with only a few students getting placed annually. The highest package offered was INR 14 LPA, and the lowest was INR 6-7 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Google, Uber, and Bajaj.
    * Internship Opportunities: Around 70% of students get internship opportunities, with companies like Digitech, Digital Marketing, and Lava offering internships.
    * Top Roles: Top roles offered to students include Assistant Director, HR, Advisory, and Professor.
    * Pass Percentage: The pass percentage is around 33%.
    * Student Life: Student life is good, with many extracurricular activities and cultural programs organized throughout the year.
    * Location: The college is located in Dwarka, making it accessible via public transport.
    * Scholarships: Scholarships are available to deserving students.

However, it's essential to note that the college does not provide on-campus placements for B.Sc. students, and students may need to look for off-campus opportunities. Despite this, the college's strong infrastructure, teaching quality, and relevance of the course curriculum make it a worthwhile investment for students interested in pursuing a career in mathematics and science.
