CAP TEST 2024: Registration (Open), Dates, Online Interview, Syllabus, Pattern & Results

The Communication Aptitude Test (CAP Test) is conducted by Amrita School of Communication (ASCOM), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, and is a gateway for admission to its various mass communication courses offered at its Coimbatore campus. The entrance exam is designed to assess students from various backgrounds based on their interest, potential and aptitude for adjusting to a communication course. Candidates are offered the following courses through the CAP Test:

Candidates who wish to appear for the CAP Test 2024 will have to follow the below-mentioned admission process.

Step 1: Register with your Email

Candidates will have to register with their email ID on the official website of Amrita School of Communication (ASCOM). They will have to click on 'New Candidate' and then fill in the required details like name, mobile number, email ID etc.

Step 2: Fill in the Application form

Candidates willing to appear for the CAP Test will have to make sure that they fill in the CAP Test application form before the deadline. Forms received after the last date of receiving of applications will be rejected by the authorities.

Step 3: Pay the application fee 

Candidates will have to pay for the application to complete the form-filling process. The application fee of INR 750 needs to be paid in online mode only. 

Step 4: Provide the academic details

Candidates will be required to provide their academic details such as percentage of class 10, 12 and graduation (in case of applying for PG). Candidates will also have to upload their documents such as academic certificates, passport-size photographs, etc.

Step 5: Submit the form

Candidates will have to preview the registered details and submit the application form. After that they will get an acknowledgment of completion of registration process by mail.

CAP Test Eligibility Criteria

Candidates will have to ensure that they check the eligibility criteria as per the course they are opting for before applying for the exam. Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria will be rejected by the officials. The eligibility criteria for the various courses are given below:

For BA Mass Communication: Candidates must have passed the higher secondary school certificate or 10+2 from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks.

For MA in Communication: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks.

For PG Diploma in Journalism (PGDJ): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks.

CAP Test 2024 Admission Process

Aspirants who successfully submit the application form for the CAP Test will have to appear for an online interview. The final selection of the candidates will be made based on their performance in the interview. For admission to mass communication courses, candidates will have to follow the process:

Step 1: Appear for Personal Interview

Candidates will have to appear for an online interview. The details of the date and time of the interview were provided to candidates on their registered email ID. Questions in the interview will be based on the candidate's profile and current affairs.

Step 2: Check CAP Test result

A merit list of candidates to be provisionally admitted to each course will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained in online interview.

Step 3: Pay the Course fee

Successful candidates are given some time to secure their admission by depositing the prescribed fees online alongwith the necessary documents.

Test Centres: CAP Test will be conducted in the Coimbatore campus of the institute itself.

This year, the CAP Test will be followed by an online interview. Hence, candidates may be asked questions regarding their educational background, general awareness, etc. However, the Amrita School of Communication has specified certain subjects or topics for the CAP Test from which questions have been asked in the entrance examination held earlier. These topics are English Grammar, Logical Reasoning, Current Affairs, Critical Personalities, Media and Advertising, Creative Flexibility and Lateral Thinking. As per the official website, the CAP Test 2024 pattern will be such that aspirants will have to attempt multiple-choice questions. The pattern for reference is given below:

As stated above, there will be no written test for this session and admission will be given based on an online interview only. Candidates are advised to start preparing for the interview now so that they can speak well without any hesitation in the interview.
