Review of Government Medical College, Surat.
Placements: Students taking admission in the medical field know that the placements are not important as in other fields, because many students decide to either study further or think to start their clinics. But still, students of this college are lucky that they are trained well under guidance that helps them to earn enough money.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college building is fully facilitated, and classes also have central air conditioning. But the hostel infrastructure is so poor, to be honest. The hostel fee is Rs. 1200/- in 1st 3 years but in 4th year it is Rs. 1800/-. Other fee charges that students need to pay is Rs. 680/-. In the medical field, the most important thing is that students should focus on medical facilities provided by the hospital to the patients under that college and on the flow of patients in the hospital.
Faculty: In the medical field, students are not spoon-fed. But still, I can proudly say that the faculty members of this college are supportive. We have a good number of faculty members including residents. All the faculty members of different departments have separate offices. Even students are grouped into 25 each per mentor. MBBS is of 5.5 years which includes 4.5 years of studying and 1 year of internship in all different fields. College organise exams like 2 internals then 1 preliminary and at last external exam or university exam which is taken by the university-affiliated college i.e. Veer Narmad South Gujrat University. They also organise many vivas for different subjects. Marking scheme for eligibility in external examinations is like the student must score 50% marks in both internal and preliminary exams. Very less students are unable to clear university exams but for students, supplementary exams are there. But that has to be cleared to go to the next class.
Other: Our college organises sports events. For good practice, they have all the equipment. There are different courts to play like badminton, table tennis, volleyball, carrom, cricket ground and many more. College has all the new technology that is currently offered by different colleges. Library of the college has many books on the same subjects with different authors.

Best college for getting good patients exposure, infrastructure is best, learning is good.
Placements: Once you complete your MBBS, you can go for a master's degree like MD or MS. To do that, you have to give the NEET PG exam. Most students can pass the final exam and get their MBBS degree. Once you become an MBBS doctor, we can earn around Rs 40,000 to 50,000 per month based on our skill level.
Infrastructure: The college recently constructed a new four-story building that includes a large 260-student capacity classroom. Each classroom has four Wi-Fi routers, so you can get free Wi-Fi. There are digital projectors in each classroom for learning, and the building has central air conditioning. There are about seven dining halls on campus.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified professors who provide clinical knowledge. There are 250 students in each class, which creates a competitive environment. There are two internal exams, one prelim, and a final exam. Since this is an MBBS program, it is somewhat difficult, and we must score more than 50% to pass.
Other: I want to be a medicine doctor, and that's why I chose this course. You can get practical knowledge by going into your posting. There are various events like Eurasia, color that, Signature Day, Holi, and others.

Dissatisfied with College authorities and faculty. Good campus and college infrastructure.
Placements: There is compulsory internship in MBBS with wages of 20,000 INR per month for 12 months. After that as MBBS doctor you can get 50 to 60k per month, completing 1 year of bond service in Gujarat state at rural areas. As PG 1st year you get 84k per month.
Infrastructure: New hostels are being build, so have to stay in old ones. New college building is awesome, with AC and Wi-Fi supported. Reading rooms are available from 12 PM to 8 AM with AC but no Wi-Fi
Food in the mess is below average. At sunday mess remains close and charges 2400/- per month. Though canteen provides a above avg. Food. Sports events are held like GPL (CRICKET LEAGUE), FPL ( Football League), Volleyball, etc.
Faculty: Absolutely one of the worst departments of Gujarat. No support for All India Quota students. Students out of Gujarat are discriminated significantly by the tutors and professors. No medical leaves are provided to students though it's a medical college. Exams are held almost every month. No holidays provided by dean.
Other: MBBS is a professional degree but college can't be lived without fun. Campus is good, full of greenery. Consist of big central ground for cricket, but not maintain by college authorities. Consist of Tennis and volleyball ground too. Sports events take place and are really good. Consist of various extracurricular activity clubs like music, dance, drama, poetry, etc. College should improve the ground and other equipments rather than spending on personal things.

An honest review about my college.
Placements: During the compulsory one-year internship, I rotated through various departments and received a stipend of INR 23,000 per month. While doing an MD, the stipend is INR 80,000 in the first year. Even after getting an MBBS, many students choose to quit their studies and become a medical officer (MO).
Infrastructure: The infrastructure at GMC Surat is excellent. We have a new college building with dissection hall, physiology lab, heat lab, and biochemistry lab. We also have four lecture halls in the new building where classes are held for first, second, and third year students. A new super specialty hospital was recently inaugurated, and the old hostels are being replaced with new ones that will have facilities like a reading room, gym, TV room, and playroom. A new college was built for first year students and PG residents. There is a lawn tennis court, cricket ground, and volleyball court, but no Wi-Fi in the hostels. There are six mess halls and two canteens where students can eat.
Faculty: The faculty are very well qualified in their field and are always ready to help the students. All the faculty have done MBBS and MD. They also take extra classes for students separately who need it. The professor for 1st year are very cooperative. The duration of each year of the course is as follows: 1st year is 12 months, 2nd year is 14 months, 3rd year is 9 months, and final year is 16 months. Clinical posting starts from the 2nd year onwards. In the 1st year, you will go for a family adoption program. In classes, the teaching method changes from professor to professor. Some of them teach using PPT, while others teach by writing on the board. For the 1st year, you will have classes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and practical classes from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Demo classes are held to help us understand the material in a simple way. SDLs are also held. There are four exams in the 1st year: 1st internal, 2nd internal, prelims, and university. Regular viva examinations are also held. All the marks are evaluated at the end, and you need to pass them to sit for the university exam.
Other: I had chosen this course because I wanted to become a Dr. The best thing about this course is about the respect that you will get. The course is quite hectic and there is a lot of toxicity in it at a higher level. Inter and residents have to work day and night without getting rest. Department like surgery and orthotics can be very toxic and overcrowded everywhere. Regular programs are held in our college,, like we celebrate Navratri, Ganapati puja, and Janmashtami. We have a festival organized that is EUCRASIA.

The abode of saving lives.
Placements: Our college indeed provides a very high quality of education and practical experience for treating the patients. After completing our studies, we have 1 year of internship, where we learn a lot of things by being directly exposed to and treating patients. The college shapes us all in such a way that we get more ambition to pursue higher studies for our future and pursue specialty (MD, MS).
Infrastructure: The on-campus housing is sufficient and safe enough to live and study in, although it is not the best. New hostel buildings are under construction that will definitely improve our standard of living. The food in the mess is nutritious and reminds me of home. The medical facilities are excellent and provide free treatment to students. There are also facilities for table tennis, volleyball, cricket, and other sports.
Faculty: The teachers are very knowledgeable and experienced, and they teach us everything they can. The theory knowledge helps us to understand the concepts, and the practical application helps us to treat patients effectively.
Other: Doing MBBS at GMC Surat is not only an excellent academic opportunity to shape our future, but the co-curricular activities, fests and activities happening around us also help us to live our college life to the fullest.

Absolutely satisfied with the college. Good studies .
Placements: For every student it's compulsory to do one year internship at the end. The stipend for the internship is 18000 per month. The stipend is soon going to be increased upto 23000 per month. The internship is quite hectic due to overload of patients in the hospital.
Infrastructure: At present we are staying in the old hostel. New hostels are being made. Total of seven buildings each of 10 floors are being made. In the new hostel you will be provided with two students in one room. There are total of 5 mess while we can have food in any.
Faculty: The professors are highly qualified with every professor having MD degree. They are very cooperative and ready to help anytime we need. They teach through powerpoint presentations in the class. Regular demo and practical classes are held. There are total of four exams held in 1 year.
Other: The main fest organised in college is EUCRASIA. It is held for 3 days. There are many competitions held like dancing, singing, drama, fashion show etc. At the end we have a DJ night you will surely enjoy it .
