Located on the outskirts of Kolkata, Guru Nanak Institute of technology is a renowned private engineering college under the famous JIS group. I did B.Tech in Computer Science in Engg. back in 2008-2012. Before the year 2010, the college was quite well known for its placement and level of quality education. Although in recent years, the quality of education followed the standard but the placement cell is losing its past glory. Although this year, they have come up with various kinds of interactiv...

My college campus is small and compact. Being a student of IT (Information Technology), I’m giving you an idea about the life in IT in GNIT, it is a pity. In the 1st year, subjects of all streams are common so you will get a good faculty in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Humanities (English). But when you come to the 2nd year, you will feel that you have met the poorest faculty ever (especially after comparing from 1st year's faculty). Their programming skills are awful, they will teach you some ...

The college fee is very nominal as compared to other engineering colleges in Kolkata. The lab structure and instruments are very good and a student can get access of the lab anytime during college hours. The faculty members of information technology department are not very cooperative and helpful with students. As it comes under JIS group so you have to compete with students of four other colleges to get a job. So it becomes quite difficult for an average student to get placed.

GNIT is a part of my life. CSE Department has very good facilities The faculties here are good and experienced. But the college doesn't provide a good placement facility. Less student get placed through on campus drives. The most disgusting part is the college doesn't organize a proper fest or any other annual event like sports, freshers, farewell and so on.

The College has a good academic building as well as a playground. The Infrastructure for AEIE is not upto the mark. Only few experiments are done in the practical and most of the apparatus are faulty. The final year projects are not that much technical and students are not encouraged by the faculty to do something really creative. It has rules like in schools. The placement was not good when I passed.IT giants did not come and even few who came recruited a very less amount of students. The compa...

I will like to write about my college starting from location,it is located near to a railway station named Sodepur and there is a nearby State highway,so it is fine regarding location and transport connectivity. But the locality near the college is not so good.If somebody wants to live nearby, then prefer apartments or college hostel.Girls hostel is fair enough to reside, but some boys hostel are way too old and filthy to live in. Overall, I recommend you to choose our college if you want to engage yourself in engineering.

Placements: About 70% of students get placed every year in IT. Generally, the placement depends on the student himself. If the person has the proper skills and knowledge, he or she would be hired by a company. Top recruiters are Infosys, Capgemini, Accenture, Cognizant, Airtel, Coca-Cola, Biskfarm, etc. Many technical and non-technical companies visit our campus and hire freshers.
