  2. Mathematics should have been included as one of the subjects throughout their educational journey.

Q:   Can I join Heritage Institute of Technology directly?

A:

Whether you can directly join Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) depends on what you mean by "directly." Here are the different ways of joining HIT:

Regular Admissions:

  • No direct admissions: Unfortunately,  HIT doesn't offer direct admissions for any B.Tech program. You need to go through the regular admission process,  which involves:
    • Qualifying in either WBJEE or JEE Main exams.
    • Meeting the minimum cut-off score for your desired program.
    • Participating in the counselling process and securing a seat based on your rank and programme choices.

Other Admission Options:

  • Lateral Entry: If you've completed a Diploma in engineering,  you can apply for lateral entry to the second year of a B.Tech programme at HIT. Admission is based on a separate entrance exam conducted by WBJEE.
  • Management Quota: Some seats in each B.Tech programme are reserved under the Management Quota. While not "direct" in the strict sense,  this might offer an alternative route for admission if you meet the eligibility criteria and pay the required fees.

Important Points:

  • The Management Quota seats are limited and admission isn't guaranteed. Merit and other criteria set by the institute determine selection.
  • Regardless of the quota you apply under,  fulfilling the program's eligibility criteria (e.g.,  minimum percentage in qualifying exams) remains mandatory.

Recommendations:

  • Check the official HIT website or contact the admissions office for the latest information on B.Tech admission procedures and specific eligibility requirements for different options.
  • Focus on preparing for WBJEE or JEE Main if aiming for regular admission through merit.
  • Explore the Management Quota option only if the regular admission process doesn't work out and ensure you meet the set criteria.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Q:   How many students can do B.Tech at Heritage Institute of Technology?

A:

The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programme has a duration of four years and follows specific admission criteria:

1. Eligibility:

  • Candidates need to have completed their H.S. (10+2) examination from the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they should have qualified for the joint entrance examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

2. Entrance Examinations:

  • Prospective students need to qualify for either the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEE) or the JEE (Main) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The candidates should be recommended by the WBJEE Board.

3. Seat Allocation:

  • 80% of the seats are reserved for qualified WBJEE candidates.
  • 10% of the seats are allocated to qualified JEE (main) candidates.
  • An additional 10% of seats are reserved under the Management Quota for candidates with valid rank cards for WBJEE or JEE (Main).

4. Lateral Entry:

  • In the second year, there is provision for an additional intake of 10% of the approved intake.
  • This is specifically for Diploma holders and B.Sc. degree holders who qualify through the Joint Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry (JELET) conducted by the WBJEE Board. Candidates have to score an aggregate of 45% in the three compulsory subjects in the 10+2 to apply for the WBJEE 2024 exam.

Review of Heritage Institute of technology, Kolkata.
Placements: Around 60% of students in our course secured placement. The highest salary offered was 6.8 LPA, the lowest was 4.7 LPA, and the average was 5 LPA. Top recruiters included TCS, Capgemini and Wipro. About 20%–30% secured internships at TCS, Concentrix, and Hinduja Global Solutions.
Infrastructure: The campus features air-conditioned classrooms, modern computer labs, a central and departmental library, and Wi-Fi. The cafeteria offers economical food, though the quality is average. Facilities include an infirmary, a sports ground, and a guidance counselor available on call.
Faculty: Faculty ratings range from 6 to 8 out of 10 based on teaching quality, knowledge, and behavior. While some teachers are very knowledgeable and supportive, others are average. The supportive teachers encourage students to approach them anytime for help.
Other: I chose this course due to my interest in computers and was drawn to the lively campus life at HITK. The crowded campus surroundings prevent loneliness. Numerous clubs are available for students to join and pursue their extracurricular interests.

It is an excellent college for MBA.
Placements: Our college was absolutely fantastic as per my experience. The course that I have pursued here was MCA (masters of computer applications). This college is the best in its courses. From our course, about 80% of the students were placed, while others started their own businesses. The highest salary offered was 3 lacs per month, and the average salary offered was 1.5 lac per month.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was very superior here. There are many smart classrooms, and the Wi-Fi system is also very good. The quality of food served in the canteen is also superior. The food items are very tasty, and every student loves them. The campus is very clean, and the campus is regularly cleaned by the cleaning staff members.
Faculty: The teaching quality is excellent here. The teachers here are experts in their subjects, and they also know how to handle today's generation of students very well. But some teachers are very strict than usual, and they always scold students. The semester exams are very tough to pass for all types of students.

Our college has been on top for placements in the past years, and I am glad to be a part of it.
Placements: Companies like mainly TCS, CTS, Wipro, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, etc., came here. They offer roles such as analyst, full-time developer (front-end, back-end), programmer, IT, non- IT, BPO, stack developer, project analyst, business analyst (for MBA) and other courses too.
Infrastructure: The hostel environment is okay, but the food quality is not up to the mark. It can get better. Indoor and outdoor sports facilities are great. There are different clubs for activities such as dance, drama, singing, painting, modelling, story writing, recitation, sports etc.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and student-friendly. They support and guide us throughout the course whenever and wherever we need their help. They are very much talented and experienced. They help us thoroughly, and we feel free to contact them.
Other: I have completed BCA, so I wanted to continue in this field, and also I love coding. So, I decided to move further with MCA. Job perspective is also very good in this field.

Our college has a really great infrastructure, and the campus life intrigued me always.
Placements: Around 60% of the students from our course got placed. The highest salary package offered by the companies was about 4.8 LPA, while the lowest salary package offered was 2.8 LPA. The average salary package offered was nearly about 3.2 LPA. Top companies which recruit students from MCA course were some of the eminent companies like TCS, Capgemini, Wipro, Teleperformance, etc. Around 20%-30% of students got internships in TCS, Concentrix, Hinduja Global Solutions, etc. Top roles offered were system administrator, IT helpdesk admin, service desk analyst, etc.
Infrastructure: There are separate desks, air-conditioned classrooms, modern well-equipped computer labs, hostel, Wi-Fi facility and a huge central library as well as the departmental library. For food, there's a cafeteria, which has a changing menu. The quality of the food served is average, but the prices are very economical. There is an infirmary for first-aids, and playgrounds for basketball, soccer, cricket and tennis are available. There's also a guidance counsellor who is available by just a call.
Faculty: I will give above 6-8 rating out of 10 for teachers depending on their teaching quality, knowledge and behaviour. Some of them were very good, while some of were very average and lacked knowledge. Some teachers are very good and helpful that they even ask students to approach them at any time if they need help in anything.
Other: I am always interested in computers, so I decided to choose this course after I finished BCA. I was mostly attracted to the campus life of HITK, and the campus surroundings are very crowded that you won't feel lonely. There are lots of clubs where you can join to explore the extracurricular activities in which you have the interest.
