Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech courses at Hitkarini College of Engineering and Technology (HCET)?

A:
{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for BE/BTech Courses at HCET

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's an assessment of the effectiveness of the placement cell for BE/BTech courses at HCET:

* Placement Drive: While some students reported that the placement cell was "quite good" and helped with preparing students for placements, others felt that it wasn't very effective. One reviewer mentioned that only TCS visited the campus for placements, and it recruited only 40 out of 400 students.
* Off-Campus Placements: Many students reported that they had to rely on off-campus placement drives, which were often held in other colleges. This suggests that the college's placement cell may not be very effective in securing jobs for its students.
* Lack of Support: Some reviewers felt that the faculty members were not supportive enough in helping students prepare for placements. Others reported that the course curriculum was not updated, making it difficult for students to gain industry-relevant skills.
* Limited Industry Exposure: Feedback suggested that industry exposure was limited, which could hinder students' chances of getting placed.

Overall, while some positive comments were made about the placement cell, many students expressed disappointment and frustration with the lack of success in securing jobs through the college's placement drive. It appears that the placement cell needs improvement to better serve the students.

The review of Hitkarini College of Engineering and Technology (HCET).
Placements: The placement cell was quite good, and it takes care of all the facilities provided to the students who are the part of alumni or institution. At the time of placements, faculty present in the placement cell conducts different types of classes so that the student can understand each and every perspective of the professional environment.
Infrastructure: The college has a unique infrastructure, and one can really admire it. As various departments are allocated different buildings and each building is interconnected, students can go from 1 to other building through different floors of the building. Even our canteen is amazing, and it is situated by the side of the lake.
Faculty: Faculty members of all the departments were really knowledgeable, and every student can really believe in the knowledge they possess and share. Classroom facilities were available so that there can be one to one conversation between the faculty and the student.

Review of Hitkarini College of Engineering and Technology (HCET).
Placements: Placements in our college were not at all good. Only one company, i.e., TCS, visited the college for placements of CS, IT, EEE, and EC branches. They offered the role of assistant system engineer trainee. Other company visited the campus for civil and mechanical branches. Around 65 students got placed. The salary package offered was 3.2 LPA, and it was offered by TCS. Others had to struggle through off-campus placement drives. Rest of them moved to Bangalore or Hyderabad for jobs. It was the same scenario for our senior batches.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was well maintained. There are fully equipped labs, computer centre, library, photocopy and printing machines, and cafeteria, etc. But there was no playground. The food served was not bad and similar to what is offered by any hostel canteen. Hostel rooms were spacious enough and worth for the money paid. It was around Rs. 50,000 per year for hostel including food.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college had little subject knowledge. Students had to go to for coaching outside the campus. There was no assistance to get us prepared for placements. The student to faculty ratio was 60:1. The course curriculum is not updated as per industry demands.
Other: Events like Engineer's day, Independence Day, and Republic Day, were used to be celebrated on the campus. None of the fests or extracurricular activities was conducted during my tenure. Paid robotics and CAD workshops were organised. Since the college was located in Dumna Hills situated far away from city life, we faced a lot of connectivity issues. Autos were the only means to go outside the campus and they charged Rs. 100 for one way. For students who had a family income less than set minimum criteria were offered scholarships and paid a negligible amount towards tuition fee.

Highly qualified and experienced faculty, awesome placements, and really good infrastructure.
Placements: The placements for our batch and our seniors were quite amazing. Almost, 75% of the students got placed in different companies. Some of the companies who visited our college were TCS, Zensar, Persistent, Ambuja cement, Videocon, etc. All the mates who joined are in a good position nowadays. However, most of the companies provide the job profile of assistant system engineer or assistant software engineer.
Infrastructure: Hitkarini College, being one of the most popular colleges in Madhya Pradesh not only because of its academic results and faculty members, it is also a topic of discussion among students because of its high-quality architecture as well as infrastructure. It is also called as the Red Fort of Jabalpur. I really feel honoured to be a part of hitkarini.
Faculty: Hitkarini is known for its experienced and high-quality faculty members. All of them are very helpful and are always available for the students. As it is a part of RGPV University, courses are same as in other colleges too, but surely, one will get new ways to learn and experiment the same under the guidance of qualified faculty members.
Other: Every year, Hitkarnians used to celebrate Engineer's Day, tech fests, and extracurricular activities including sports as well. The college is located with very beautiful surroundings, up above the hills and at the same time, it's not far from the railway station, and one will easily reach to college without facing any conveyance problem.

There are good placements in 2016 and I got placed.
Placements: Some of the students were placed in TCS. The highest package offered was 3.2 LPA. TCS and Tech Mahindra visited the campus. I got 80 percent in the internship. There was no stipend provided for the internship. There is a separate placement cell in the college. The students will get admission in the college easily.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are the best. It is a fully Wi-Fi campus. The library facility, lab facility and separate lab for everything is provided. A separate auditorium is present for all branches. The design of the college is of old 1985. The architecture of the college is awesome. There is a dental and architecture college on the campus.
Faculty: There is a technique which the teachers used to teach. They will teach in the projector with live video. The faculty are good. Faculty puts all efforts in teaching. The faculty in 2018 are limited due to the shortage of students in the college. The faculty in the college are good.

The college used to be great, it is not anymore. Infrastructure is good, but the management is poor.
Placements: The placements used to good in the previous years, but when we came to final year, the quality and quantity of companies decreased majorly. Our previous batches got the chance to appear in many companies, and all we got were BPOs. Even TCS just conducted their written exam in our college, and we had to go to a different college for the interview.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is top class, unique. The labs and all are too old. They should upgrade some of the equipment like the AC in the seminar hall. After some time, that AC could be kept in a museum because it's too old and needs to be taken care of. The classrooms are great because several batches have been through those same benches, but they should really work on the electronics stuff.
Faculty: The maximum good faculty have either been fired or have left the college. It's only going to go downhill from here on. We had some really experienced teachers with a great knowledge. We learnt so much from them, but some left while we were still pursuing our degree and some with us. There are hardly 2-3 good teachers in our college now.
Other: The four years that I spent here were great. We did lots of stuff, but I can't say it's going to be the same for the upcoming batches. We organised various workshops, participated in some, and it turned out to be a great success. The teachers were great, but they all have left the college, good ones to be precise. Halcyon our tech-fest was one of the highlights of my engineering days, we learnt so much from it.
