IIM Bangalore MBA Eligibility & Highlights 2026
IIM Bangalore MBA is a full-time, residential course for graduates from all streams who want to build a career in Management. This PGP course, which leads to a Master’s degree in Business Administration, is the flagship course spread over six trimesters and an intermediary summer project. Students enrolled in this course have the opportunity to obtain double degrees by being a part of the Double Degree (DD) programme. IIM Bangalore considers two kinds of CAT scores for MBA admission - Qualifying and Final score. Qualifying CAT score is the minimum sectional and overall CAT score used to shortlist students for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Yes, IIMB extends financial aid to students in need of assistance. The objective of the Financial Aid Policy at IIMB is to ensure that no student is deprived of education at the institute for financial reasons. All PGP students with annual family incomes below INR 8 LPA are eligible to apply for financial aid. Other students with severe financial difficulties arising from sudden unforeseen circumstances are also considered. The Financial Aid Committee undertakes a two-step process for deciding the number of awardees and the quantum of aid. In the first stage, the students are given a financial status score based on four criteria: Annual Gross Household Income (including income of the student if employed before joining IIMB and outstanding loans if any, provided they were not taken for conspicuous consumption), household savings, real estate assets, and other assets. Based on this score, some of the students were called for personal interaction with a faculty panel. Based on the weighted average of these two scores, applicants are provided with 100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, or 20% financial aid.

Yes, IIM Bangalore is one of the toughest business schools to get admission to, and every year, even CAT 99+ percentilers miss out on a call from the institute. Candidates seeking admission to IIM Bangalore MBA course must appear for CAT. It is mandatory for candidates to meet the sectional and overall CAT cutoff to be eligible for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds for final admission to IIM Bangalore. For IIM Bangalore MBA admission, students need to meet both the overall CAT cut off percentile and the sectional cut offs. Candidates seeking admission to IIM Bangalore must score above the 90 percentile in CAT exam. IIM Bangalore does not release CAT cutoffs in the public domain and are exclusively accessible only via account login to candidates who have appeared for the exam. Therefore, the students must aim to score above 90 percentile.
Admission to the PGP course is based on CAT score. Candidates are shortlisted for the WAT and PI round on the basis of their performance in the CAT, scholastic achievement and relevant work experience. CAT is the computer-based test conducted for providing admission to PGP courses. For shortlisting, both sectional and overall CAT cutoffs are considered. The weightage aligned to different components for final selection is as follows:

IIM Bangalore admission 2024 is completely entrance-based. Admission to the flagship course, i.e., MBA of IIM Bangalore, is based on a valid score in the CAT exam. The CAT exam has three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA). CAT syllabus is often said to be more engineer-friendly, but the truth is that apart from Quantitative Aptitude, no other topic of the CAT syllabus is such that students from the non-Engineering background cannot crack. In fact, even the Quantitative Aptitude section includes advanced-level Mathematics topics studied in Class 9-10. All that the candidates need to do is brush up on the fundamentals of the topics included in the syllabus from the CAT study material. In order to aim for the 99.99 percentile in the CAT exam, candidates must understand the exam pattern well, so that their selection of questions ensures they solve the paper with an overall accuracy of 100 percent. CAT is a speed and accuracy test. Practice as many CAT question papers and mock tests as you can to improve speed and accuracy. In this last phase of CAT preparation, focus completely on mock tests and revision. This is the crucial time when you can take your CAT score from 95 to 99 percentile.
IIM Bangalore accepts GMAT/ GRE to provide admission to the EPGP course. Candidates qualifying for any of the two entrance exams can apply for the E-PGP course. Check out the eligibility given below:
1. Graduation in any discipline with a 50% or equivalent CGPA
2. Applicants from SC, ST and PwD categories must have a minimum of 45% or equivalent CGPA
3. Applicants who have not pursued any bachelor's degree but completed their CA/ ICWA/ CS after Class 12 are also eligible to apply
Candidates selected for MBA course based on their Class 10, Class 12, CAT qualifying and CAT final cutoff are called for further selection rounds, such as the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. A commutative score is then calculated based on the performance of the candidates in all the aforementioned parameters. Similarly for other courses, applicants who meet the set eligibility need to go through the institute-specific selection process and get shortlisted. After completion of the selection rounds, a category-wise merit list is released based on the Final Composite Score. The provisional admission offers are made accordingly, adhering to the reservation norms.
Admission to EPGP course is based on GRE/ GMAT/ IIMB Test scores. Candidates are shortlisted for the WAT and PI round on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam, scholastic achievement and relevant work experience. An intensive one-year residential programme leading to an MBA, admission to this course is provided to students who qualify all the selection rounds.
