Good infrastructure and facilities. Absolutely satisfied with faculty and studies.
Placements: If you are looking for placements, then it is not a place for you, Here students mailny focus on research, then Ph.D. Although there are placements in college, not as many as IIT. Students do Ph.Ds abroad or in India and get a stipend. Many students preferred doing Ph.D. from abroad.
Infrastructure: Faculty members are excellent; all of them are very cooperative; they are best in their own particular areas. Labs here are fully equipped (best), library 24x7, Wi-Fi available in whole campus, hostels are good, mess food is very good compared to other places, at most all sports and games, 24?7 medical facilities (free). Want to know more, then visit the Iiser Kolkata site.
Faculty: Teachers are excellent in their own particular field (best); they are all Ph.D. holders and very cooperative. Here you will not remember things; you will understand it and learn to apply it in real life. Exams are not focused on memory but on understanding. If you come here, one thing is for sure: you don't have to memorise things. If you understand, then you pass the exam. Exams are focused on understanding why you may find them difficult because you will not be able to find questions as they are in your notes but based on them, but as I said earlier, if you pay slight attention in class then you are good to go. CGPA matters here; CGPA is certainly important. You should have a good CGPA because there are subjects that have minimum CGPA criteria.
Other: The best thing is that if you become a researcher, you can discover or invent new things, although it takes time but it's worth it.

Best faculty members and good infrastructure.
Placements: If you are coming for a job, then it is not a good option. Because most of the students choose to study further and do a Ph.D. in their specific subject. Since students do not choose jobs, placement cells are not that developed.
Infrastructure: The overall college infrastructure is excellent and we can say the same; over-top IIT and AIIMS infrastructure is also here. We get everything on the campus. There is no need to go out for anything. They have all academics classes and labs.
Faculty: We are provided with the top faculty or the top most teachers present at the national level. Our schedule is made by college and it is also on the official site of our college. We have exams on a regular basis and the question paper is set by the teacher itself.
Other: Our campus is controlled by students so that's why it is good and in the way we want.

    The administration is slow.
Placements: In IISERs, students are encouraged to become scientists; hence, many students go for a Ph.D. in their respective topic of interest. Therefore, we can't expect any kind of placement from here but students get selected for Ph.D.s at top universities abroad or in India as well.
Infrastructure: Talking about the infrastructure, lecture hall and research complex is great. But the hostels here are not well built. The food here is comparatively better than at other colleges. For a person like me who seats moderately, it costs around 2,000 per month for the food. The location of the college itself is bad; there is no proper transport available, and the main city is quite far away.
Faculty: In the bio department, the faculty is knowledgeable but lacks the skill of teaching. The coursework until the 2nd year focuses on building students' interests in interdisciplinary subjects, which focuses more on the fundamentals of the subjects. After the third year, we get a good look at how to work in labs and stuff. The curriculum labs are great for building foundations, but not all students get hands-on due to the lack of management and the crowding.
Other: I chose this course considering my interests in research and lab work. But coming here made me realize that this was not me and that this isn't my passion. Thankfully, this course allows some freedom. Some students opt for an MBA and go business-side. I am exploring new options that fit my personal interests.

An overview on IISER-K by an undergraduate student.
Placements: As an undergraduate student, I know less about the placements. But my goal is to complete the BSMS course and get a Ph.D. offer from a good university. Because even if the college has placements, the package is not so much. On average, you can get 6 to 7 LPA. And very few students are offered, actually. The roles are mainly researcher and teacher. Internship opportunities are easily available. But you've got to work for it; email the professors again and again. I haven't applied or am willing to apply in the first year so I really don't know about the projects and outcomes for now.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities are good, but the rooms are a bit small (because they put 3 students in a double sharing room and 2 students in a single sharing room for the first 2 years). But things are clean. Bathrooms are not so clean but much cleaner than expected from a government college. Additionally, the mess is a little bit messy. Because of the two messes, only one is functional. The medical facility is really good, I have to say. And talking about sports. IISER-K is a golden place for sports lovers.
Faculty: The curriculum here is kind of open. Teachers decide the location of the course by observing students' status. You are welcome to question everything the teacher says (if you're not being annoying? ). The faculty members are good (not so good, if I remember my first semester). But in the second semester, the faculty members are amazing. You might be a little disappointed if your target is earth science, but it will be heaven for you if your target is physics, chemistry or biology. As this isn't an 'industry-based college, I won't say it makes students industry-ready. But it surely leaves a deep understanding of concepts in our minds. The pass percentage varies depending on the overall performance of the whole class. In the first semester, our average pass percentage was around 30–40%, but yes, scoring that many marks is harder than it seems.
Other: Personally, I most liked the nature of Iiser Kolkata. Far from the hustle of the city, it's made in a village, open fields, and a and a small forest. I can't say I particularly dislike anything, but the pace, of course, is a bit fast. Now, talk about campus life. Socially, Iser-K is very rich. There are many clubs and activities to participate in. Starting from music, drama, dance, chess, quizzes, movies, nature, science, math arts, literature, photography, spicmacay, and sports. Everything is there. Among extracurricular activities, there is drama, football, basketball, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, volleyball, kho-kho, cricket, etc. Most of these social groups are completely run by students.

It is one of the best and premier institutes to pursue your degree in Basic Sciences.
Placements: IISER Kolkata is not meant for placements; it's meant for those students who are highly interested in science and passionate about pursuing research as a career or in academia and working as scientists in various world-renowned laboratories. But we do have a placement cell, which is growing every year and some pharmaceutical companies do visit our campus for placements. Especially the DCS & DES students opt for placements but note the numbers are very low as people here prefer to go for higher studies and opt for Ph.D.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are quite good and satisfactory, like Wi-Fi, which is available 24 hours a day in all the labs, classrooms & libraries, as well as on the hostel premises. The quality of food in the mess and canteen is decent and very much eatable but it depends on the taste of the individual. Medical facilities are available on campus and ambulance services are there for any emergency. Sports and games facilities are amazing here; almost every sport is available to play and grounds for cricket, football, basketball, volleyball and an Olympic-size swimming pool are also there, along with a separate sports and gym complex for various indoor games. Hostels are well-equipped with all essentials, along with 24x7 water & electricity supply & furniture.
Faculty: All the professors here are highly qualified PhDs, knowledgeable and very helpful. The teaching quality is on par with that of foreign universities, and the course curriculum is very relevant to making the students industry-ready. Semester exams are difficult but can easily be done well by following the lectures and notes provided by professors. Pass percentage is the same 33% criteria in a course. Also, here at IISER Kolkata, we have a CGPA system. Above 8 CGPA is considered good for getting domestic Ph.D. offers and 8.5+ is considered good for foreign Ph.D. offers.

    All about IISER Kolkata .
Placements: The institute is meant for students who are interested in research; there is no placement. Like, very few students sit for placements. Generally, students prefer that Ph.D. internships are not in companies; you will intern in some professors labs, which you have to find ourselves.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good all over IISER. WiFi is maintained. Labs are well-equipped, and classrooms have comfortable chairs and spacing. The library is well managed; you will find every book that you need during your coursework. The quality of the food is good. Medical facilities are average, as are sports.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful. They take your feedback regularly and work on it. All of them have PhDs, and many have post-doctoral degrees. The curriculum is multidisciplinary, which is what is needed in today's research world. Semester exams are not that tough, and you will get good marks if you study.
