IISER Aptitude Test 2025: Exam Schedule (Mar), Registration, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus & Other Details

Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) conduct an entrance exam in order to provide admission to candidates in the five-year-long BS-MS dual degree programme offered by them. On the basis of a candidate’s score in the IISER entrance exam (also known as IISER aptitude test), he/she can secure admission at IISER located in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, or Tirupati. Candidates who cleared their Class 12 in the Science stream are eligible to apply for the IISER entrance exam 2024. As per the IISER entrance exam pattern, there are a total of 60 objective questions that candidates need to complete in three hours duration. 

The following table provides the tentative important information and highlights of the IISER Aptitude Test 2025.

Note- KVPY Channel, JEE Advanced Admission Channel/ scorecard will no longer be valid for the enrolment in the five year BS-MS and BS dual degree programme offered by various IISERs across the nation.

IISER 2024 Application process for the academic session 2025-2026 will tentatively start in the first week of April 2025. Candidates will be able to fill out the IAT 2025 registration form online by visiting the official website and creating a registered account on the web portal. After creating the registered account on the IAT 2025 official website, candidates will be able to fill out the registration form by filling in the required details, selecting the exam centre preferences, uploading the required documents and paying for the IAT 2025 registration form.

Candidates interested in appearing for the IISER Entrance exam 2025, the precursor for that is filling out IAT registration from 2025. To meet the eligibility criteria to appear for the IAT exam for BS-MS course admissions, aspirants must satisfy the below-mentioned requirements. 

IAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

To get eligible for the IISER Entrance Exam Exam, aspirants must abide by the following citizenship rules:

• The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
• The candidate can be a PIO. PIO stands for Person of Indian Origin. A PIO is a foreign citizen who has held an Indian passport or has parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who were born and permanently resident in India. The Government of India launched the PIO Card Scheme in 1999 to make it easier for people to return to India. 
• The candidate can be an OCI. OCI stands for Overseas Citizenship of India. It's an immigration status that allows foreign citizens of Indian origin to live and work in India indefinitely.

NOTE: OCI/PIO card holders can apply for IAT 2025, provided they satisfy other eligibility criteria. They shall be eligible to compete for the unreserved seats.

IAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit And Qualifications

• The candidates must have passed the Class XII or equivalent level examination in 2022/ 2023 or 2025 from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education in India COBSE.

• Candidates must have taken at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics during their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.

• Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD are required to score a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Candidates belonging to other categories are required to score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.

NOTE: The students from the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), from Kashmir division/Winter Zone areas of Jammu division and the U.T. of Ladakh, who had appeared in their Class XII or equivalent level examination in Dec 2021, are also eligible to apply for the IAT 2025, provided they satisfy all the other eligibility criteria.

The IISER 2025 entrance exam pattern will be provided by the exam authorities when the information brochure and exam notification are released. Knowing the exam pattern for the examination plays a crucial role in preparing. IISER has yet to release the exam pattern; however, as per the previous year's trend, it has been observed that the exam structure tends to remain the same. The IISER 2025 syllabus will be declared by the examination authorities in the information brochure. Questions in the IISER exam are asked from topics present in the syllabus of Class 11 and 12 books. The IISER 2025 exam question paper contained questions from the sections Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. For better preparation of the IISER exam, the candidate must review the complete IISER 2025 syllabus as the questions asked will test the candidate's analytic ability.

IISER 2024 entrance examination is considered to be one of the finest and the toughest exams under Science stream undergraduate entrance examination as it provides the BSMS dual degree in the most reputed and research-oriented institutions across the country which is IISERs. On a comparison note, candidates will find the examination tougher than JEE Main exam, but below JEE Advanced. Unlike JEE or NEET the IISER aptitude test asks questions from both mathematics and Biology.

IISER Admit Card will be released in the first week of June 2025, tentatively on its official website. Registered candidates can download it by entering their registration credentials. The IISER admit card carries information such as personal details, exam date and time, exam centre address, and exam day guidelines and instructions. The IISER admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the exam centre. The IISER admit card 2025 will be available only online, and candidates must preserve it until the exam's counselling or admission process is complete.

The IISER Entrance Exam 2025 exam centre's name will be mentioned in the IISER Entrance Exam admit card 2025, specifying the state, exam centre details, and timings for which the exam will be conducted for the test takers. The IISER will try to assign candidates to exam centres that are close to their place of residence. The exam centres allotted to candidates will be based on what preferences they have filled out while filling up the IISER Entrance Exam 2024 application form.

IISER Entrance Exam 2025 is expected to be held in the second week of June 2025 tentatively. The IISER 2024 Entrance Exam was held on June 09, 2024. IISER 2024 Shift 1 was conducted successfully at 12:00 pm at the IISER 2024 examination centres. As per the reactions of students who appeared in the IAT 2024, it was found that the IISER Aptitude test difficulty level was found to be moderately easy. Students have opted for PCM in their class 12 std, found the biology section comparatively moderate to difficult and the students who had opted for PCB in their class 12 found the Mathematics portion to be moderately difficult. for the common subjects for both the stream students which are Chemistry and Physics, the exam difficulty level was moderately easy. Those who have studied thoroughly in their class 11 and 12 would find the examination easy to attempt.

It was also found that many questions were indirectly repeated from the previous year's questions on the subjects of biology and mathematics. In the physics sections, questions were asked from theory-based type instead of numerical-based questions.

The IISER 2025 Entrance Exam Answer Key will be released in the first week of June 2025, tentatively on the official website. The IAT 2025 Candidate Response Sheet is expected to be released on the same day after the successful conduct of the examination. Candidates can visit the official website and download their Response sheet to evaluate their marks scored in the IAT 2025 Examination. Candidates can go through the  IAT 2025 Provisional Answer key in order to get an estimation of the score that they can obtain in the IISER entrance exam 2025. Candidates can raise objections against the provisional answer key if any discrepancy. The online window against the objection of the IAT 2025 Provisional answer key will be provided soon.

Candidates must note that at first the the exam officials will be releasing the IAT 2025 provisional answer key which candidates can raise objections against in the mentioned timeline. Based on the correction made by the experts in the IISER provisional answer key 2025, the exam officials will be releasing the IAT final answer key 2025 before the declaration of the IAT 2025 result.

IAT 2025 results will be declared in the fourth week of June 2025, tentatively by the examination conducting body, IISER. Test-takers can visit the official website of IISER, i.e, iiseradmission.in to download their IAT 2025 scorecard. Selected candidates in the IISER entrance examination in 2025 will then upload the required documents to confirm their seats in the second week of July 2025. IISERs offer admission into courses leading to BS-MS Dual Degree and BS Degree (only at IISER Bhopal) programmes. IISER Counselling Process 2025 will be started by the examination conducting body after the successful conduct of the examination body. In the counselling process, candidates who have taken the IAT 2025 examination and have got their AIR/ Category ranks need to register for the IISER 2025 online counselling registration process. The exact online counselling registration dates will be mentioned by the exam authority after the declaration of the result.

Based on the registrations made for the counselling process, the exam officials will be releasing the IAT 2025 seat allotment list.
