The institute is fine at its infrastructure with good academics.
Placements: The placements at IIT Bhilai are quite good. In the 2022–23 academic year, 86.23% of students were placed. The highest package offered was 48 LPA, and the average package was 14 LPA. Top recruiting companies included Amazon, PayTM, TCS, Jio, and Accenture. A total of 131 offers were made.
Infrastructure: The buildings were constructed with perfection, and they looked great. Wi-Fi was available everywhere on campus, and the classrooms were fully air-conditioned. The library was quiet and a good place to study. The academic block was really beautiful. Laundry facilities were available at the hostel, along with Wi-Fi. The food quality was above average. For medical facilities, there was a health center on campus. For sports, there was a cricket ground, a basketball court, a football ground, badminton courts, and table tennis tables in the hostel.
Faculty: The faculty members at IIT Bhilai are great. They are always available to answer our questions during the day. They explain concepts well and clear our doubts. The curriculum is similar to other IITs. Exams are conducted smoothly, and each professor has their own way of conducting them. Semester exams are quite easy, and the pass percentage is 95%.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2027

It is a great college I can say but it is just in its initial phase of achieving excellence.
Placements: If we neglect the recession years, then I can say placements are pretty good in my branch at least. Maximum students are placed in good companies, with top companies being like Google, Accenture, etc. Whereas only a small group of people remains unplaced or don't have good post-graduation options. Internships are not that good, but as an insider, I can say the top 50 percent of the batch at least get the good internship with an above-average stipend.
Infrastructure: Our institute is in a growing phase, so some facilities are not available here, like Olympic playgrounds and student activity centers, etc. But those facilities that are built till now are up to the mark, like all hostel rooms having air conditioners installed, washing machine facilities inside the hostel, and good Wi-Fi connection with unlimited internet. So I can say those facilities that are built are very the latest and cutting edge.
Faculty: Faculty members are good enough and helpful; all teachers are Ph.D. graduates from different IITs or foreign universities. Teaching quality depends on course to course and teacher to teacher. Some are really great teachers, but some are not. The course curriculum is similar to that of other IITs, which is decent. Semester exams depend on professors, and their difficulties depend on the course; some courses are easy to do, and some courses are actually very difficult to pass. Pass percentage depends on professors; in most cases, it is 30 percent, but it can be easily changeable.
Other: My batch strength for B.Tech 2027 is 225 students, including all branches, with 55 in my Computer Science branch. These guys teach biology, digital fabrication, electrical, electronics, etc. In 1st years, which I think is very bad, I think if I get a chance to change that, I will definitely do that. Events and fests are pretty decent; the campus has a very small crowd as compared to other institutions. The surrounding area was a village when we were not here, but now it has started developing, and the main city is just 2 to 3 km apart from our main campus. Scholarships are so much available here that many students got scholarships here; scholarship notifications come every week. Extracurricular activities are decent, but I can say that due to the smaller crowd, the chance to do better in extracurriculars is very much higher here as compared to other institutions.

Good placements in 2021-2022.
Placements: Around 50-60 percent of students were placed. The highest package was 20 LPA and the lowest package was around 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies include HCL, Deloitte, Mahindra and Mahindra. Most of them got SDE roles. Overall, the placement was average.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available everywhere on the campus. Sufficient labs and classrooms are present. A decent library is present. The mess food is below average but cafes and canteens serve decent food. There is no proper ground for games like cricket and football, but each hostel has table tennis, badminton and volleyball courts. Campus has a health centre for medical facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good. Course curricula more consist of core electrical engineering and a small amount of electronics. Semester exams are not much difficult and the majority of the students pass the exam. So the passing percentage is above 90 percent.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2028

3Placements4Infrastructure3Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
A growing college with lots of developments in the future.
Placements: Campus Placements 2023-24: 50% placed on campus for mechanical engineering roles in consulting, IT, core (technical), finance, analytics, management, teaching, and research. Avg (overall) - 13.02 LPA. Companies - Mahindra, Tata Autocomp, TCS, HCL, Accenture, NVIDIA, Winjit, L&T, etc.
Infrastructure: We have a state-of-the-art campus with beautiful buildings, lakes, and greenery all around. The campus has centralized Wi-Fi with good speed. Hostels are good, with AC in each room. Currently, there are 3 hostels. Labs, classrooms, and the library are all well-equipped with the latest technologies. Mess food is good here. There is a common health center. Sports and games are in the development phase, as the campus is new. It will improve over time.
Faculty: Teachers here are highly qualified. All are Masters in their fields and are busy with their research work. For the first year, the course is common for all. From the second year onwards, we are taught our core courses. Exams here are not very tough compared to JEE, but you will hardly get time to study because of the extracurricular activities. This makes it a difficult job for many students to manage academics. Saturdays and Sundays are off. Classes are from 8:30 to 12:30 (not always, we get breaks too if there isn't a lecture scheduled) and then labs are from 2:30 to 5:30. For the first year, it is two times a week.

B.Tech. in Mechatronics Engineering - Batch of 2028
4.2

Satisfied with faculty, amazing infrastructure, best 3rd gen IIT, good for startups.
Placements: The placement rate is 94%, which is quite high. We have a lot of internships, and the placement cell looks after placements. They conduct mock interviews and make us ready for the interviews. The top companies who come for placements are Google, NVIDIA, Amazon, and Microsoft. The highest placement on campus was INR 48,00,000 and INR 82,00,000 off campus.
Infrastructure: Our annual festival is called MERAZ, which is central India's biggest techno-cultural festival. It's held in November. In addition, we have over 100 events throughout the year, not counting festivals and celebrations. We're always tinkering with the labs and finding new things. The sports complex isn't ready yet, but we have a decent temporary sports facility and a partnership with nearby sports clubs for professional training. We have 19 clubs on campus, which is a lot, and it's really fun to take part in club events.
Faculty: The course curriculum at IIT Bhilai is up-to-date and covers all the important topics that we need to know. We also have elective courses, so we can customize our curriculum to fit our interests. This is especially helpful for those who want to think outside the box. The curriculum is designed to make us corporate-ready, and all the necessary details are taught in college. We have midsemester and end-of-semester exams, as well as surprise quizzes in between. The semester exams are moderately difficult, but they are relatively graded, so the pass percentage is high, about 93-95%.
Other: I chose Mechatronics because I want to start my own robotics company. I like that the course allows me to explore a wide range of topics and think outside the box. However, I would like more lab classes, because hands-on experience is the best way to learn. The faculty are very knowledgeable and approachable, but I'm not happy with the syllabus, especially math, because they don't follow a particular book.

As of now, it is not worth coming to this college because of the below-average placements .
Placements: My name is Aayush, and I am a student in my 2nd year pursuing a B.Tech in Mechatronics Engineering. Since this branch was introduced in our college only 2 years ago and my batch is only the 2nd batch, we have to wait till our seniors get placed before giving an opinion about the placements in this course. But considering the placement rates in already established courses like CSE, DSAI, ME, and EE for IIT standards, it is not going great as of now. Certainly the expectations for our course are high since the demand in robotics and industry 4.0 is increasing so by the time our seniors pass out, companies offering decent packages will start hiring.
Infrastructure: Since IIT Bhilai is one of the newly established 3rd generation IITs, the facilities and infrastructure are great, and our permanent campus has just been built. There are various departments for the courses equipped with all the new equipment, and the infrastructure is unique with some cultural influences from Chhattisgarh. We also have a common engineering department that has labs for all the departments and each of the classrooms is well equipped with Wi-Fi. We also have a 4-floor library with all the facilities. So, yes, the infrastructure will not disappoint. Talking about hostels, we have a total of 4 hostels on our campus: 2 hostels for boys, 1 hostel for girls and 1 more for Ph.D. research scholars and married students. The hostels are also nice; I'd say better than some old IITs, obviously. And there is one common mess for all the students. The quality of the food is okay. The facilities for sports and games are nowhere near the quality as compared to holder IITs. Still, there is work to be done, like we don't have separate grounds for cricket and football, and for badminton, the courts have been built recently, but we have recreational rooms in each hostel for basic indoor games like TT, foosball, and carrom. In terms of medical facilities, we have a medical center on our campus that runs 24 hours a day.
Faculty: The course syllabus for each course is relevant and the faculty members are also helpful and have done research in their particular field. The quality of teaching is good. There are 2 exams in each semester: one is midterm, and the second is end semester. And the pass percentage for each course depends on the course and the faculty. There is a credit system; each course offers specific credit and to graduate, we need a minimum 144 credits.
Other: I chose the mechatronics course since I have a keen interest in robotics and AI/ML, and seeing the scope of this course in the near future is great. Since this branch was just introduced in our college and also because this branch is niche since we are the first IIT to introduce this branch for B.Tech. So the alumni network is not that strong and the crowd is also very small, so it would be better if we had a good alumni network to guide this branch. The college fest also takes place every year, named 'Meraz', which is great with many events taking place.
