Sports Management Admission Test (SMAT) exam pattern is prescribed by the IISM in such a way that the test can assess candidate's reasoning, quantitative ability and sports knowledge. SMAT 2025 Exam Pattern (Bachelor’s)
The SMAT 2025 exam pattern for admission to the Bachelor course includes MCQs and an essay. After the essay is evaluated, the candidate will have to give the Sports Management Admission Test (SMAT) online which is of 80 minutes and the exam has to be completed in 80 minutes.
The overall performance is measured on the basis of candidate's academic scores, sports achievements and extra-curricular activities for 20 marks. Candidates have to give the exam from their home and are required to turn their camera and microphone on during the test.

The fee amount to be paid for SMAT is INR 1,800. Candidates have to pay the fee in online mode at the time of application submission. For every attempt, candidates need to register afresh and pay the application fee. Candidates must also note that the SMAT application fee is non refundable.

SMAT Exam Pattern (Master’s & PGD)
In the Sports Management Admission Test (SMAT) for Master’s and PDG courses, the entrance exam will be conducted in two stages.
Stage 1: The candidate will have to give Caselets and in this stage, the aspirant will receive four topics over email. Each topic holds 20 marks each and the candidate will be given two days to submit their Caselets. Once evaluated, the candidate will have to give the SMAT 2025 exam online. The candidate has to give the Sports Management Admission Test (SMAT) which will be of 180 marks. In order to be eligible for Stage 2, a candidate is expected to score 50% i.e.: 90 marks out of 180.
Stage 2: The second stage will be an online, video-call based Personal Interview (PI) round which will be of 120 marks.
The total weightage of Stage 1 and Stage 2 is 300 marks (180 +120). Aspirants need to score 60% cumulative of Stage 1 and Stage 2 in order to secure Admission at IISM.
