Q:   Is the CAT and SRCC GBO exam pattern same?

A:
The SRCC GBO exam pattern is similar to the CAT exam pattern, but the SRCC GBO exam is slightly less difficult. The SRCC GBO exam has 160 multiple choice questions that must be answered in 120 minutes. The exam has four sections: Logical Ability, Data Interpretation, Quantitative Ability, and English Comprehension and Language Ability. Each correct answer is worth four marks, and each incorrect answer is worth -1 mark.
The CAT exam has 66 questions that must be answered in 120 minutes. The exam has three sections: Verbal Ability (Language Proficiency) and Reading (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative ability (QA).
Both the exams have multiple choice questions with four options given for each question. CAT is a longer exam compared to SRCC GBO. The marking scheme, including the weightage of questions and the scoring system, can differ between the two exams. CAT is primarily used for admissions to various postgraduate management programmes, including MBA, in various Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other top B-schools. SRCC GBO, on the other hand, is specifically for admission to the Global Business Operations programme offered by Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University.

Q:   Is it necessary to have a mathematics background to crack SRCC GBO?

A:

While a background in mathematics can be beneficial for cracking the SRCC GBO entrance exam, it is not an absolute requirement. The SRCC GBO exam assesses candidates on various subjects related to business, economics, and management, and mathematics is just one component of the syllabus.

Candidates from various academic backgrounds, including commerce, economics, engineering, and others, appear for the SRCC GBO exam. Therefore, the assessment is designed to accommodate this diversity. While a mathematical foundation can give an edge to the candidates in the quantitative aptitude section, it's by no means obligatory.

For candidates without a strong mathematics background, effective preparation is key. Allocate time to study and practice relevant mathematical concepts such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation. Utilize study materials, textbooks, and online resources to enhance your mathematical skills. Additionally, focus on a well-rounded preparation strategy that encompasses all sections of the exam.

A:

For an incorrect answer, one mark is deducted from the candidates' total score. This means that for four incorrect answers, four marks will be deducted from the total score. The raw score of candidates is scaled with reference to the total number of candidates appearing in the exam. The SRCC GBO percentile is the percentage of candidates among those who have appeared for the exam and scored below the candidate in that category. That is, if a candidate has scored 60 per cent, this means that 60 per cent of candidates who have appeared in SRCC GBO exam scored below him/her.
