Review of K J Somaiya College of Science and Commerce.
Placements: Placements were not given by this college, despite the course being unaided. I did my master's in nutraceuticals, which was an unaided course, and hence the fee was higher than aided M.Sc. courses. The college department had no tie-ups with relevant companies or recruiters. All students had to find jobs and placements entirely on their own. There was no help with credit-based internships placements either.
Infrastructure: The campus and facilities were good, although the institution could do much better on food. Only vegetarian food was served, which was average if this college has that policy, but it should be at least optimally balanced and not devoid of macros and micros, especially when it comes to mess food. Another ridiculous policy was how students were not supposed to eat their home-bought non-vegetarian food on the campus publically. If the college did not serve non-vegetarians, it was alright, but they should not get to control the food habits of students. It was an educational place, and not a religious institution.
Faculty: Teachers were knowledgeable, and most of them were always glad on helping. There were one or two teachers everywhere who do not want to bother and keep burdening students unreasonably without actually educating relevantly, but overall the teachers were helpful and all of them were qualified. The course curriculum was relevant, it helps in the industry to an extent. Semester exams were challenging but not unreasonable. The passing percentage for most courses in M.Sc. was around 40%.
