B.Sc. (Hons.) in Computer Science - Batch of 2016
Offered by Karim City College

Great college and good faculty members except few ones. Infrastructure is average.
Placements: 40-50% of students were placed in 2016 batch. The highest package is 2.5 lacs per annum then offered by Concentrix Company (Call Centre Job). The lowest package offered by TCS which is around 1.8 Lacs.
There are 8 to 10 companies recruiting each year from the college mostly TCS, Wipro BPO, ICICI life insurance for insurance agent.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good but there is no hostel facility right now. The distant students have to search for rooms nearby. There is a canteen but most of the time it is closed. Wi-Fi is available but only for faculty members. Library is also present there.
Faculty: The teachers are really good. They are hard working for their job. Even I don't need to take tuitions at that time. Exams are not very difficult as 50% of the marks are given based on practical knowledge. I never seen even a single student who have failed in the exam.
Other: Outdated Syllabus like C, C+ Programming, Foxpro. No Python, No the latest database topics in syllabus at that time but I cant say right now. It is possible now. Syllabus has been changed.

Our college is very good, but there is room for improvement.
Placements: Around 50% of students got placed. The highest salary package offered was 8 LPA. Recruiting companies were Tata Motors, Cisco, Mahindra, and many more. Few students got internships. Some students were placed in companies like Mahindra, Tata Steel, and Cisco. Software-related roles are offered.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good, like a big library, labs with 50 computers, good classrooms, and free Wi-Fi. Hostels and a good canteen are available. Hygienic food is served. A lot of games, sports, and medical facilities are available. The infrastructure is good.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, knowledgeable, and have good communication skills. Their teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is good but does not provide complete knowledge. Semester exams are average. The pass percentage is 50%.
Other: I chose this course as I am interested in computers. Facilities should be improved. A lot of events are organised.

The college has average placements and faculty members.
Placements: Placements are average if you take the fees (which is very low) into consideration. Except for BCA and B.Sc. IT, no other branch has good placements. If you are from B.Sc. IT or BCA and you have skills, then you can easily get a job. Companies like Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, etc., keep visiting the college. They hire students with low salary packages initially, but the salary will increase after some years when you develop and polish your skills. One of the seniors recently got placed in Microsoft, and he worked there for 4 years after completing his graduation from here. I am not saying that only studying from here will land you into a very good job. But if you possess the skillset that companies want, then it will definitely lead you to a great career ahead.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is not that great. It is below average. The campus is very small, and no playground is present. If you are a sports enthusiast, then you are not going to enjoy college life here. The library and reading rooms are available. A huge auditorium is also available. A gym and indoor games room are also present. The library staff and others are very helpful.
Faculty: Some teachers are qualified, and some are not. They complete the syllabus on time and are very helpful. Practicals are regularly done, but the university, which regulates the college is Kolhan University, is not a good university. They neither conduct the exams on time nor publish the results on time. Overall, it's a good college for you if you are a government job aspirant or if you are preparing for any other competitive exams like NIMCET, CAT, XAT, etc., as you get a lot of free time that you can spend to do something productive.
Other: I chose this course because I am a government job aspirant. Most of our batchmates took admission here because they either weren't able to crack JEE or any other competitive engineering exams or because they want to pursue MCA or MBA after this course
Our course is not a plain B.Sc course. It's a vocational course, so the fee is a bit higher than other courses but low if you compare it with engineering degrees. In this course, you will learn about many programming languages, and you can master any of the programming languages which will make you stand out of the crowd. Fests are held regularly in the college auditorium. Fests like science exhibition, dance competition, alumni meet-ups are regularly held. Besides all these, the college also provides NCC training to the students.

"Solid infrastructure and supportive faculty with strong industry-oriented learning experience. "
.
Placements: 60% of students successfully secured placements, with salary packages ranging from a high of 7 LPA to an average of 5 LPA and a minimum of 3.5 LPA. Leading recruiters included TCS and companies in the IT sector, where the role of software developed was commonly offered. Additional, 75% of students gained internship experience, with Tata Steel UISL.
Infrastructure: The college provides good infrastructure, including Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, well-equipped labs, and a comprehensive library. The hostel facilities are comfortable, with clean and adequate maintained rooms. The food in the mess is reasonably good, offering a variety of options, while the canteen serves a wider selection of snacks and meals, providing quality and variety. Basic medical facilities are available on campus, with access to medical professionals for minor health concerns. Additional, the campus promotes a healthy lifestyle with sports and recreational facilities, including fields.
Faculty: The teachers are knowledgeable, qualified, and supportive, making the learning experience positive. The teaching quality is solid, with a curriculum that? S relevant and aimed at preparing students for industry demands. Semester exams are fair, focusing on understanding and application, with a high pass percentage that reflects the balanced difficult level.
Other: I chose this course for its strong foundation in technical skills and the practical exposure it offers, which aligns with my career goals. The best parts are the hands-on lab sessions and the focus on industry-relevant skills, making it highly practical and engaging. However, I wish the curriculum included more updated software tools and electives options for specialisation. The campus is vibrant, with regular events and fests that bring students together, creating a lively community. The connectivity to the city is convenient, and the surroundings are peaceful. There are scholarships available for merit and need-based assistance, and plenty of extracurricular activities to explore beyond academics, from sports to cultural clubs, fostering an overall enriching experience.

Our college provides a well-equipped infrastructure and environment for learning.
Placements: I believe that our college is one of the few colleges in Jamshedpur, which provides regular classes as well as various extracurricular activities. About 60 students are studying in this vocational course of B.Sc. in Computer Science. I basically pursued this course as it was of my interest and also to get into a good IT company. As far as placements are concerned, there were around 4-5 companies which came to the campus like Tech Mahindra, Wipro, etc., which I don't have much knowledge about as I got placed in TCS from off-campus. The percentage of students placed was far below than expected. Only 20% of the students from our course got placed. I didn't attend for placements as studying IT the corresponding roles should come related to development or tech support for the least. But the companies which came for placement only focus on BPO kind of job recruitment, so I found that it was not worth it.
Infrastructure: The campus is very suitable for a good study environment. The campus is clean and less noisy. There have been a lot of improvements regarding infrastructure in recent years. Computer labs have more than enough systems, and network connectivity, including Wi-Fi and all the required software and hardware, are provided. The college has various reading rooms, a library and audiovisual rooms on every floor which are equipped with desktops and laptops for the students. The food served in the canteen was satisfactory, clean and hygienic. Our college provides a basketball court and common rooms for both boys and girls. Our college provides many indoor games like carrom, table tennis, chess, etc. Medical facilities are provided in emergency situations. The college focuses a lot on the health of its students, staffs as well as other citizens of the city because it hosts blood donation camps and health awareness sessions frequently. Karim City is also ranked among the top colleges in terms of all sports like football, cricket, basketball and other athletic events.
Faculty: The course curriculum is vast, and it is upgraded for every batch as the college realises the importance of computer science and technology being improvising rapidly. Faculty members are good and capable of teaching. They make us understand the course along with the values and discipline which the college is very strict about. Ragging cases or any interdisciplinary activities are not tolerated here, and rare cases have been since the college life that I had come across any, so the values taught here are appreciated. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students' industry-ready. Students have to put their effort and interest in their learning.
Other: I have chosen this course because I was interested in computers, and I wanted to build a good career in this industry. I believe if someone is looking forward to doing this course because it is very helpful. I wish the college should improve the quality of questions asked in internal and external exams. Sufficient learning material should be provided for the students who are new to computer programming and stuff. The number of events organised by the college is huge, including dance, drama, innovation, standups, technology, ramps, etc. The campus crowd is more because of various category of students from courses like commerce, arts, IT, mass communication and also master degree. The college is less noisy and very interactive.
