Review of Madras School of Social Work.
Placements: I studied medical and psychiatry specialisation, in which I get any campus for my specialisation, not even one. I was very disappointed with the response I got from the placement coordinator. You can get placed in the top companies with very good packages.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is fair. The main highlight of the infrastructure is the library, where you can find very good resources for all courses. The only negative I can say is the Wi-Fi is not so good. Other than that, I am satisfied with everything else.
Faculty: Being a medical and psychiatric social work student, after getting into the job, I had a very strong feeling that my curriculum was not up to the standards of today's practice. Compared to what I learned in my 7 months of the job, I have just learned hardly 25% through my college.
Other: The best about MPSW is the work nature and the level of growth you will acquire. Psychiatry is the best branch in which you can learn more about humans everyday. The one beautiful thing about my college is the culture among the students and friendly faculty. Compared to many colleges, MSSW's faculty members are really friendly and approachable.

Really good college for social work students.
Placements: Placements are good here. Students will get comparatively high salary scale than that of walk in interviews. Corporates and ngo s were the most common interviewers. More than 50% of the students were places through campus. Comparing to our senior batch, our batch mates places more.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is lil below the line. Wi-Fi is only available for laptops. Classrooms are good but shortage of classrooms are main problem. MSSW have a wide good collection of social work books in library. Library facilities are quite good. Hostel is also good and even the mess/canteen food is above average.
Faculty: Faculty members of aided department are highly skilled and qualified. They will mould the aided students of MSSW in to another level of social work. They are good in guiding students in to their desired levels. Course curriculum is also good and everything is calendar based. Nothing is procrastinated in academics. Everything is oriented well. International and national seminars will be conducted every year and it will be quite helpful for social work aspires. Field work is mail part of academics.
Other: Campus is lil crowded for their available facilities. Events and fests will be conducted with our any failure by student council selected by a presidential way of election. Rest everything is above average. Recent the college was re-accredited by A grade by NAAC.

College has a really good faculty for the students.
Placements: In our college around 30-35% of the students get placements from this course. The college provided good placement opportunities to the students. The average package offered in the college was between 3-7 LPA. For our course, a good number companies visit for the placements.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure for our course was good. Quality of the college facilities was good as well. Our college management provides all the facilities to the students including Wi-Fi, labs, library, canteen etc. Hostel facility was also available for the students.
Faculty: Faculty in this college was helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality offered here was good. Course curriculum followed in our college was relevant. Exams were pretty easy to pass. Teachers were helpful and supportive with all the possible resources.

Practise based learning - the most interesting way.
Placements: For Master of Social work internships start from 2nd semester itself with organisations as Little drops, International Justice Mission, Guild of Service, World Vision, Sevalaya, Banyan, etc. There are summer internships separately from semester internships with various learning objectives ranging from academic to organisational. The organisation that have come this year for placement are SoS children's village, Chrysalis ez Vidya PVT Ltd, Sterlite Vedanta, Sundaram fasteners, Karadi Path, Aktrea, Muthoot group, Reddy Foundation, Little gym, Tata motors, Altius. The average pay is 2.5 LPA. The highest is 5 LPA.
3 student volunteers from 1st year and 3 from second year coordinate with placement cell for placement activities.
Infrastructure: The college has 3 buildings with maximum of 3 floors in the main building. There is an open air theatre. A library and a computer lab. There is PTA owned Xerox shop. The hostel is in the campus with mess attached. Canteen is small with basic snacks available and recently noodles have been added and has received good feedback. There is an indoor game room also a ground for outdoor games as badminton and volleyball.
Faculty: Almost 90% faculty in my department are doctorates. The course curriculum is designed in such a way that theory is put into practise. Weekly 2 days are compulsory field mostly linked with some organisation. It is compulsory for the students to finish at least 2 certificate course through the course time. It will be organised by the departments in the college. The faculty have a lot of experience and are open to extend their help with respect to internships, department activities like organising seminars, workshops and conferences. The course is constructed in such a way that 70% learning is through practice and in the field, thus the students get hands on experience from the beginning.
Other: The campus strength is about 800. The Major events are MCJ Endowment Lecture and Award ceremony, Annual Sports meet, Library week celebration, Community day, Cultural Fest, College day. There are various clubs as Anti-narcotic club, Eco club and Students development cells to keep every department in the college connected with student representatives. The campus is 66 years old and has a lot of stone benches and trees and is also eco friendly. Every year scholarships are provided for economically backward students and also SC/ST students.

Other: A fun-filled college that teaches and moulds you well as an individual. It has a practical-based learning that will be carried upon throughout your life. The life in MSSW is a place where your ideas, innovations, talents and hard work are given due concern and importance is also given for your personal development. The faculty members are well-supportive for the students always starting from their education till getting a job. Apart from the course curriculum, we also have a sports day celebration, cultural events, and various national and international conferences organised for the students. We also have the opportunity to organise conferences as well. It gives you a freedom to put forth your idea and work upon it without any problem.
