Nishcay - The Thriving Student-led Social Responsibility Committee Driving Change and Positivity in Society

January 16, 2024: At NMIMS Hyderabad, education extends beyond textbooks to include societal impact. Students actively promote change and make substantial contributions to society through initiatives such as 'Nishchay'. Nishchay, the Student-led Social Responsibility Committee, personifies our dedication to social service and community development.

The WeCare project is a one-of-a-kind winter social internship initiative established by the School of Business Management (SBM) at SVKM's NMIMS. The initiative seeks to empower first-year MBA students at SBM through a three-week social internship. The programme immerses students in India's social realities and encourages them to become changemakers for a more sustainable and equitable future. Starting this year, Nishchay took over the WeCare internship programmes.
WeCare, which aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, places students in a variety of settings such as NGOs, social enterprises, government departments, and CSR wings of leading corporations to address critical social challenges such as education, gender equality, energy conservation, poverty alleviation, skill development, and financial inclusion. This hands-on experience fosters problem-solving, cooperation, and leadership abilities while improving the student's grasp of the social context.
In the spirit of selflessness, Nishchay planned a visit to Hyderabad's TOUCH orphanage on July 30, 2023. The committee entertained the orphans with games, chocolates, juices, pizzas, and gifts. The day was filled with engaging activities, games, dancing, and singing, all of which helped to create memorable memories. This encounter demonstrated the importance of thankfulness and the strength of collaborative action.
Nishchay organised a cleanliness and plantation push to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary as part of the 'Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta: A step towards establishing a clean nation' project. Nishchay organised and led a blood donation drive in partnership with the Indian Red Cross Society of Mahabubnagar. The ceremony was honoured by the Hon'ble District Magistrate of Mahabubnagar, Mr. Ravi Gugulothu, and Miss Deepa, Project Director at L&T Tollgate. Students from numerous schools took part in the blood donation drive. The campaign received an incredible response, with 104 participants.

To continue its efforts to give back to the community, Nishchay has organised the 'Joy of Giving Week', which will include a fundraising and collection campaign, as well as the delivery of basics to marginalised areas.
