Q:   Is B.E. / B.Tech at Padre Conceicao College of Engineering a good choice?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

B.E./B.Tech at Padre Conceicao College of Engineering: Is it a Good Choice?

    * Facilities: The college has average facilities, with Wi-Fi and a library available, but the canteen food is subpar. Lab infrastructure is well-maintained, but outdated computers can be a hindrance.
    * Teaching Quality: Most students agree that the faculty is well-qualified and knowledgeable, but some contract faculty members can be unhelpful and inexperienced.
    * Course Curriculum: While the curriculum is relevant, some students feel it lacks practical application, making it difficult for students to become industry-ready.
    * Placements: Placement rates vary, with some batches experiencing higher success rates (around 65%) while others struggled (only 10%). Average salaries range from INR3-INR5 Lacs per annum. Top recruiters include TCS, Infosys, and Persistent Systems.
    * Internship Opportunities: Internships are available, but often unpaid. Around 50-60% of students secure internships.
    * Hostel Facility: Unfortunately, the college does not provide a hostel facility.
    * Campus Life: The campus is average, with limited extracurricular activities and no scholarships available.
    * Student-Faculty Ratio: The ratio is relatively high at 65:7, which may impact individualized attention.

Overall, while Padre Conceicao College of Engineering has its strengths, particularly in terms of faculty quality and lab infrastructure, students may face challenges in becoming industry-ready due to the outdated curriculum and limited practical exposure. Additionally, the lack of a hostel facility and limited extracurricular activities may hinder campus life. Potential students should weigh these factors carefully before making a decision.

Review of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering.
Placements: Around 15 students out of 65 students got placed on campus and 2 got placed off campus. The highest salary package offered was 4 LPA and the average salary package was 3 LPA. Top recruiting company was TCS. Our batch got internships at Voltas for the six sigma course. Top role offered was software analytics.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi and a spacious library with all the required books and journals were available in our college. Hostel facility was not available. Canteen was average and the food served was average. Sports ground was available and frequent sports events were held.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college were helpful and well qualified with Ph.D. in their particular subject. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry ready with internships and talks. Semester exams are held on time. The difficulty level of exams was high in all aspects as the questions were tricky.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in it. This course helps students learn all the aspects of mechanical engineering. Our college should expose students more to industry life and arrange visits to manufacturing companies. Campus life was the best for all the students who want to learn and grow their careers.

I am absolutely dissatisfied with the faculty, the infrastructure, and facilities of the college.
Placements: Around 10% to 15% of students were placed in our course. The highest package offered for our course was around 4 LPA to 5 LPA, and the lowest package offered was around 1.8 to 2.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are Sun360, Persistent Systems, CommScope, TCS, etc.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi facility on the college campus is not good. It is not suitable for downloading important notes or installing any software for practical purposes. Classrooms and labs are quite small, with no CCTV cameras installed. The quality of food in the canteen is not good. There is no proper hygiene and cleanliness maintained while preparing food or any other snacks. Sports infrastructure is not good. Students have to play any sort of indoor or outdoor games outside of the college campus wherever there are sports facilities available.
Faculty: The teaching quality is average. There are teachers who are helpful and qualified, but there are also teachers who teach for the sake of money and do not help students solve their doubts and academic problems. They scold students. They tell them to work hard and study on their own and complain to their parents if they perform badly or average in their academics. The course curriculum is very relevant and applicable to industry standards. Students are not industry-ready. The college does not have all the lab equipment to allow students to get a good hands-on experience of what is available in the industry. Semester exams are average. Sometimes they are difficult and sometimes they are moderate and easy. The pass percentage is around 70 to 75%.
Other: I chose this course because I have a lot of passion for electronics, communication, and the latest technologies used to make a change in society and transform people's lives into an easier and more modern/fast-paced way of living. The best things I learned about this course are image processing, consumer electronics, instrumentation, digital electronics, etc. The things I wish to improve the course are that I feel students should be exposed more to the industry standards required to get a job by including the latest equipment and technology in the labs with better quality software so that students get good hands-on experience, and field trips should be conducted twice in a semester so that students get industry exposure and know how work is done in the industry and take an interest in which department they can work in maybe in their career ahead. Events are held once a year. The campus crowd is quite small in size. Scholarships are not available at this college. The finance or administration department of the college cheats the students and disallows many government schemes available to them. Extracurricular activities are not encouraged by the college authorities. They are left to the students at their own risk. They get marks only if they reach a certain level of standard in their activities.

Good college, average placement and sports facility.
Placements: In my class out of 60, only 10-15 were placed, with the highest package of 8 LPA and an average of 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies offering good packages were OneShield, Visteon, Infuse, and Turtlemint. In our 7th semester, it was compulsory to apply for an internship, so some of the students got offers from those companies themselves.
Infrastructure: Labs are well-maintained with AC and have the best processors. The library is well-equipped, having all textbooks and free Wi-Fi. Classrooms are average but always clean. There is no hostel facility. There is no sports facility; at the time of admission, they told us that we can use Agnels ground but not always, only during events. The canteen is not good.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified but not all teachers teach well. The curriculum is set by Goa University and ASL College follows the same. The subjects are easy to pass, but some students got blocked. The curriculum doesn't have practical applications to make students industry-ready.

It provides excellent placements with good pass percentage, and has average infrastructure.
Placements: Our college offers one of the best placements opportunities in Goa. The average salary package offered ranges from 4 LPA to 10 LPA. Some companies which prefer our college for hiring employees include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, Commscope, IVP, Zensae, etc., including other startups and midrange companies. Almost 90% of students from the computer department get placed every year, and there also have been batches wherein everyone has been placed. Roles offer to students who are placed range from junior software developers, testers, network security engineers, sales and marketing, etc.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided by our college are average as compared to other colleges in Goa. But they are being upgraded every year. This college does not provide a hostel as most of the students are from Goa, but the canteen, medical, and sports facilities are average, and have a lot of room for improvement.
Faculty: Teachers are the best thing in our college. They are well knowledgeable and approachable. They have the necessary knowledge required in their field of expertise and are ever-ready to help. Semester exams are not difficult, and almost 95-98% of the students pass the exam.
Other: Computer engineering has always been my passion, and this college has help me grow in a better way.

It has good IT and computer departments. Placements for them are high.
Placements: Placements in our college are quite good including top companies like Amazon. Even teachers help us during our placements. The college is even helping students for the startups and even provides funding if the idea is good.
Infrastructure: There isn't any hostel in the college. Infrastructure is pretty good with Wi-Fi. Labs are clean as well. But the mechanical department is a little untidy. The library is awesome with all syllabus books available over there. Multiple webinars are being held in the college every week.
Faculty: Teachers here are average. But the internal tests are usually easy to score if you study everything which was taught to you in class. It does make students industry-ready if the student does internships. The Goa University syllabus isn't good enough to cope with the department knowledge.
Other: The fees are quite high. The number of students is also high as well. Multiple events are being organised including fresher's party. The IT department of the college is best.

It is a good college for students in Goa.
Placements: The top role offered in our course placements at IVP Indus Valley Partners for 7.5 LPA. We get placements from Infosys, TCS, and Wipro. The lowest salary package offered was 3.2 LPA by Hexaware Technologies. Almost 75-80% of the students got internships in our batch. Most of the top roles offered were software development-related.
Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi in the labs and corridors but it's very slow. We have a canteen and it's mediocre. There is a good parking lot. We have a yearly event called Kurukshetra which is a sports event. It's a good place with a good mixture of culture and academics for students.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful. They are well qualified and many of them are holding Ph.D. degrees and are from well-renounced colleges. Its curriculum is kind of outdated as it's not controlled by the college. The course is set by Goa University as all engineering colleges are affiliated with it. We have an 85-90% pass rate.
Other: I chose this course as I have a deep interest in computer science. In Goa, there are very few engineering colleges and PCCE is one of the better ones.
