UPES-Not worth The money and poor placements.

Placements: Placements for senior batches were not so good earlier on. The highest salary package offered was 8 LPA, the lowest salary package offered was around 2 LPA and the average salary package offered was 4-5 LPA. Due to the poor placements, a few students took part in the campus drives. There is a placement cell, and it is efficient for the students as Mr Manish Madan heads it.

The infrastructure is good but I'm dissatisfied with faculty and placements.

Placements: The placement assistance for our batch was not good. Almost less than 20% of the students got placed in core companies, and rest had to either move for higher studies or join an IT company. Internships in good core companies were very limited, and the majority of the batch was sent to different locations of ONGCs assets.

Please don't get attracted to the college's fake publicity.

Placements: In the batch of 2014-2018, 40 out of 60 students got placed. Only one student got placed in a core company with a package of 9 LPA. The rest joined in IT companies with a package of 3-4.8 LPA. So, it's not worthy to join this college as the cost to benefit ratio is very low. So, please refrain from joining.

Dissatisfied with the college, there is an unexpected increase in the college fee.

Placements: Till now, the placements in our college are very poor. The average package offered is around 3 LPA. They focus only on the marks and doesn't help in the overall development of the student. Our college doesn't help with co-curricular activities and sports. Our college doesn't support the students for their innovative ideas.

Dissatisfied with the fees that they charge and all the money is going in vain.

Placements: The placements are not great. Very few companies come to the college for the aerospace engineering branch. I've not seen much students get placed with a good package here. This branch is new in this college, so it is not highly recommended to do aerospace engineering from this college.

The reality of University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.

Placements: The placements are not so good. Students from non-IT branches are placed in IT companies because the core companies do not come to the college and some companies already blackout the college. Students are placed at a low salary, therefore most of students apply for higher studies.

The first mistake of my life is joining in UPES. Stay away from my college for the better future.

Placements: It was a disaster. The college couldn't provide enough placements for our seniors. The core companies didn't visit the campus till now. They are forcing us to sit for IT companies placement. The whole department is like a dustbin, you cant get any help from the department. All the faculty members are interested in their own business.

Don't waste your time and money by taking energy systems as master in UPES (its a trap).

Placements: Honestly speaking, the role of the college is to prepare students for the industry. But, the colleges today in our country is far away from this ideology. And same has happened with my batch. We are not academically strong, and in addition to that, industrial needs are different. Our college manages to get some startups and small scale companies for placement of energy system. So far, 3-4 companies have interviewed us including Infosys ( for the role of software engineer which is not acceptable ...

100% placement stories are myth even in petroleum branches.

Placements: The university gives a chance to everyone for internships, but the internships are only used to write in your CV. The placement cells are even worse, and they depend on passed year students to send the companies where they are working, and also they are least concerned about working and getting companies to campus. The highest package range from 28-30 lakhs per annum and only 3-4 people got out of 2,500 students. The minimum packages lie from 2.5 - 3.5 lakhs per annum. My branch APE GAS gets max...

Not satisfied due to fees and poor outcome

Placements: The placements are just okay as compared to the fee. I would recommend other colleges until it is the last option. Placements for APE, ADE, and CCVT branches are good though. Specialised courses would be recommended (branches like ADE, APE, CS branches, aerospace engineering, etc).

Think before taking admission.

Placements: Placements are really poor these days. With oil recession going on around the world, petroleum engineering is not a good option. You cannot expect a campus placement in core companies until and unless you are extraordinary. UPES doesn't provide placement. Also, the intake has increased dramatically because of which students who deserve admission in worst branches are taking admission in the best branch. Hope the recession might end in some years.Till then UPES is not a great option. You can als...

A run for your Money - Nah!

Placements: Placements are okay. As the market is running very tight these days, relatively less companies came. Some of them were Royal Dutch Shell, Adani Gas, Weatherford Drilling International, L&T Hydrocarbon, Aveva, Tieto Energy Solutions. In 3rd Year, College provides Summer Internship to students mostly in ONGC and 2-3 students to Schlumberger and Essar respectively. If the student has his/her source then well and good, otherwise ONGC is the last option. Highest Salary was 16.5 Lakhs from WDI, lowest...

Sadly, my college exemplifies what is going wrong with the education sector in India. It has been turned into pure business disregarding the students' future and also no focus on imparting quality education to the students. It has more restrictions than a public school, has a very small campus, limited no. of qualified faculty members (please don't go by degrees they are having as only a handful can impart that knowledge to students), no extracurricular (you have to choose between attendance and...

Only good with it's scenic beauty and that also feels good for few weeks then can be a torturing place. Only few teachers are worth calling teachers many don't deserve to be in the college. Placement of this college is just a boast. It's just a matter of luck that one of you might get placement in your core else you might be also one those labourers in Infosys or Wipro.

In this college, students will not get help from anyone.

Placements: Placements are very bad here, and none of the core companies visited here for the same. They will debar students or provide jobs in marketing, business development profile or IT sector jobs for non-IT students. Only a few IT branches are better than core branches in placements. Top recruiting companies for the chemical are Reliance, Exxon Mobil and Phillips Carbon Black.
