M.Sc. in Chemistry - Batch of 2024

Scottish through the eyes of someone real!
Placements: There were 38 students in our course at the end of semester. Although there were much more at the beginning. The highest package offered in our course was 280000, the lowest was 36000 and average 60000. All per annum. Sorry to say but even though the companies offered to us were pretty lame, none were recruited ever. No student got any internship ever. The one and only role offered to us in our course was a chemist.
Infrastructure: There was wifi but no student could access it. It was only for the faculties. Same is for the computers. The labs were pretty old. It was all show-off. The chemicals were too old, the instruments were broken, fridge not working. Classrooms had air conditioners but only for show. Turning the AC on used to make the rooms hotter than outside. The library was huge but none of the important books were there. All an all, it was all a bid Charade. The food quality was worst everywhere. Like in the mess, canteen everywhere. They were pretty bland and sort of too runny. The medical facilities only had Dettol and cotton. No bandage or any burning cream or whatever. There was no place for any sports or game. Only the annual sports.
Faculty: Only two of the faculty members were truly helpful and qualified to be a professor. But others knew nothing and very unhelpful. Yes the course curriculum indeed is relevant. This is perfect for industry training. The semester exams in this college is pretty difficult. The pass percentage is very weak like only 7%.
Other: I chose this course to be industry ready. If you complete the course and then start looking for jobs in the industry, there's a good chance you'll get them. I wish that there was instrumental knowledge practices was included too. Like knowing the instruments we're using. Knowing all the hardwares and all. So if one is damaged there's no need to call the technician. There was no fest or campus crowd or connectivity being a missionary college and all. But the Christmas was celebrated grandly. There was a scholarship opportunity for the poor students. But there was no extra curricular activities.

M.Sc. in Botany - Batch of 2023

A solid foundation with room for growth.
Placements: The program offers a decent placement record, with around 60-70% of students securing jobs in government research organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and environmental consultancies. The highest package offered was around 6 LPA, while the average was 4.5 LPA. Around 70% of students secured internships in organizations like the Botanical Survey of India and the National Botanical Research Institute.
Infrastructure: The college provides adequate facilities for the Botany department, including well-equipped labs, a decent library, and reliable Wi-Fi. While the classrooms could use some modernization, they are functional. The hostel facilities are clean and comfortable, with a variety of food options in the mess and canteen. Medical facilities are basic but sufficient, and the college offers sports and games activities.
Faculty: The teachers in the Botany department are generally helpful and knowledgeable. While some may have a stronger teaching style than others, most are qualified and dedicated. The curriculum is relevant and prepares students for the industry. However, the semester exams can be challenging, with a pass percentage typically around 70-80%.

Written a very honest review.
Placements: In our college they have their placement cell and approximately 50 percent students get placement offers but the package is very less like the starting package is 1.50 Lacs per annum to 4.00 Lacs per annum. The college don't conduct any internships, sometimes different institutions come to our college and they provide internship programs.
Infrastructure: Our college provide hostels for those students who live very far from the College. Hostel name is Lady Jane Dundas Hostel. They don't provide Wi-Fi and there is a common room in which you can go and study. Hostel mess food is okay but they don't provide chapati they only provide rice and they provide only 2 meals in a day.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful but not all teachers are that much qualified for the post of a professor. Our Head of department is very amazing personality, he is very helpful but he never completes his course. All teachers complete their course on time but they don't teach very properly.
Other: College don't have any fest and they don't do any gathering.

Satisfied with faculty and infrastructure.
Placements: Nearly 23-40% were placed. 2-8 LPA were offered. Companies like Infosys, EY, Tata Motors, Amazon, ICICI Prudential Bank, Aditya Birla Finance Ltd, and many more come to the college for recruitment. Institutions like Praxis Business School, Bajaj Finance, etc., hold internships in this college.
Infrastructure: Our college has great infrastructure with classrooms having air conditioning. Although the main building does not have air conditioning, our building does because it is a new department. The latest computers for the laboratory are provided. There are two canteens; one has great food and the other is mediocre. There is a gym. There are girls' hostels and boys' hostels at a walking distance from the college. Sports and games are available.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and very approachable. There are many internship opportunities throughout the year. Semester exams are pretty standard considering this is under the University of Calcutta. It is grade A accredited by NAAC. Overall, it is a well-respected college and it is keeping up with it.
Other: Having a commerce background, this course is something I thought I would go for. The college holds many seminars and webinars for us, so that we could get information about other professional courses available. There are many clubs available for students to be a part of like the dance club, literary club, photography club, debate club, etc.

Become a Caledonian like us.
Placements: I am not involved in any internships yet, but I will provide information based on my friends' experiences. This college does offer internships, with companies like TATA, WIPRO, and many other tech companies recruiting students from this college.
Infrastructure: Despite being one of the oldest colleges in Kolkata, it still boasts excellent infrastructure and architecture. The college provides Wi-Fi, labs, a library, a canteen, a games room, and various other rooms for specific activities. There are different types of clubs, such as drama, singing, and more.
Faculty: The quality of education provided is very good and beneficial for students. The teachers, staff members, and faculty are cooperative and understanding. The teachers are very helpful and highly educated.
Other: Overall, it is a very good experience to be at this college and to be in such a great environment.

Dissatistied with the campus life but good infrastructure, hostel life and value for the money.
Placements: The placement opportunities at our college are subpar. However, we do provide free internship programs for our freshers. Unfortunately, only a small number of students are able to secure placements with a salary. The highest salary offered is 2.5 lakh CTC. The top recruiting companies primarily focus on Salem-based jobs and tend to hire candidates with marketing backgrounds. Some of the notable companies include ICICI and L&T Construction, among others.
Infrastructure: The BBA facilities provided are on par with those offered by other private colleges. BBA students have access to digital classrooms equipped with projectors to enhance their learning experience. Additionally, there is a dedicated library stocked with books specifically for BBA students. The hostels cater to both boys and girls, and they are truly remarkable. The mess serves food of exceptional quality, and there are indoor and outdoor areas for recreational activities such as carrom, table tennis, cricket, and volleyball.
Faculty: The faculty members at our university (CU) are not only qualified but also extremely helpful. They go above and beyond to provide exceptional education, surpassing that of most other colleges. The courses they offer are designed to bring out the best in students, ensuring their academic growth. However, it is worth noting that the exams are challenging, requiring a minimum score of 30% to pass.
