Q:   Can I get into Sha-Shib College of Engineering with 70% in SSAT?

A:

It depends upon the courses you opted for and the competition for the course, here are some factors below that might help you make a mindful decision:

Variable Cutoff: Cutoffs for admission based on SSAT scores are dynamic and can vary year-to-year depending on: * Number of applicants: A higher number of applicants with better scores can raise the cutoff. * Available seats: The number of seats available for a specific programme also influences the cutoff. * Program and quota: Cutoffs can differ based on the programme you're applying for (e.g., B.Tech vs. AME) and the admission quota (government vs. management).

2. Multifaceted Selection: Admission decisions at SSCE usually involve a holistic approach beyond just SSAT scores. Other factors may include: * Minimum eligibility criteria: Meeting the minimum percentage requirement in Class 12th. * Entrance exams (if applicable): Scores in KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) for specific programs like B.E./B.Tech. * Other selection processes: For management quota seats, the college might conduct an aptitude test or interview.

Therefore, a 70% score on the SSAT might not be enough to secure admission, especially for competitive programs or quotas. However, it doesn't necessarily mean you're ineligible.

Here's what you can do:

  • Check the official website
  • contact the office of the college for better assistance.

B.E. in Aeronautical Engineering - Batch of 2023
1.2
1Placements1Infrastructure2Faculty1Crowd & Campus Life1Value for Money
The worst college I've taken. There is no infrastructure, no placements, no good facilities.
Placements: In our college, students are biassed based on yearly performance of advertising and students are super rare in count. Students who are thinking of applying for a B.E. in aeronautical engineering should find some of best colleges for future references. There will be no top recruiting companies coming to these colleges, and you will have to find your own internships.
Infrastructure: There will be no Wi-Fi facility for you in hostel and in class. Another thing is that this faculty is not good in their working areas. I would say that there's nothing for you in terms of facilities. Mess and canteen are provided, but for hostel students, they will be included in the cost of living, which may reach 5.5k. There are no medical facilities. There are no sports or games available.
Faculty: I would say that for 1st year students, teachers are good and they provide the best outcome, but after you pass out and come in 2nd year onwards, you're all on your own. This college is affiliated with VTU, so it'll be helpful only for a name. There's nothing difficult in exam if you study accordingly and go through all last semester question papers. A passing score of 45 marks is required on all subjects, including internal and external marks.
Other: I chose B.E. I enrolled in an aeronautical engineering course on my own will after my 12th pass out. There was no other reason. It was only that if I could gain some more knowledge, but life has taken an unexpected turn after joining this institute. First of all, library should be updated. There's a whole lot of useless books we have to go through for one single question and it consumes so much time during exam time period. Events can be organised if you have courage to host or else don't think about events, festivals and camps. That is the worst I can describe. There's no scholarship for out-of-state students. Only if you're a Karnataka resident and have scored good marks. Extracurricular activities can be hosted on your own, etc. There's no enjoyment in campus life if you're coming to waste your time and money. Then you're welcome. In future if I'm writing a good review for this college, then you must understand that I'm forced to change my thoughts and write a good review for this college.

Worth of money but waste of your life time.
Placements: No placement is provided by college not even internships and proper classes. Students should find their job if they want to go on with their life. Otherwise they will suffer in life. Because college is not that reputed and also company won't recognize the college .
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very poor and is under construction for more than 10 years not even finished. They are not willing to finish the construction. Food is not provided properly. Even common bathroom facility is not given. Not even a single shop is near.
Faculty: Faculty members are not qualified and classes are not taken properly. And they are not able to give a quality lecture and proper knowledge about subjects. Students are tortured to come to college to pay hostel fee only. And to eat rotten food and to stay at hostel without any class.
Other: Aeronautical engineering is a good course which provides vast information about aircrafts and aeronautics.

Overall, our college is average.
Placements: There were many students in our course who came from different states for studies. There were no many students in IT, which was good. According to the college and hostel, the fee was high. There are no placements.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are poor here, and the infrastructure is the same for years. Wi-Fi was available, but it was not useful. Cameras were also provided, but they work only when exams are conducted. The hostel is not much good, and the hostel warden never approaches you to discuss the problems. The food served was not tasty. There was no enjoyment on the campus, and sports and events are not organised. I went to different states, but I was not happy after seeing this college.
Faculty: Only some of the teachers were good who used to help in studies. Some of the teachers were not good and not cooperative and helpful. They used to mostly help students who come from their state. For some subjects, there were no teachers like during my tenure physic teacher was not available. The physic teacher joined very late to complete the syllabus.

Other: The library is awesome and has various famous books. It is open 24*7. Labs are important for us, and the labs here are great and well-equipped. Wi-Fi is not available in the hostel, and only 100 Mb per day is provided. The classrooms are clean, well-maintained and are digitalised.

Students here can have a great opportunity.
Placements: There are about 55 students in our class. The salary package offered by the company is variable to students and companies. The highest salary package offered is 11 LPA. Companies like Tata and HAL are hiring students. About 40 to 45 students got placed in various companies on a higher post. As an aeronautical engineer, we get a job in any industry.
Infrastructure: The library is awesome and consisting of various famous books. Facility for 24x7 is available. For engineers, labs are important, which are great, and they have all the equipment. Wi-Fi is also available for students, but it has a limit of 500 MB per day. Classrooms are clean, echo-maintained and digitally maintained.
Faculty: All the teachers have experience of 10 to 12 years. All the teachers are M.Tech and PhD holders. They explain very clearly and in understandable language, and they are also helping in doubts and internals. This course includes subjects of mechanical engineering. Therefore students are industry-ready.
Other: Our seniors are very well placed at such companies that every student has a dream. In the aeronautical branch, we get knowledge of airplane parts, which is fabulous. In the first semester, we had a freshers party and other types of fests. Scholarships are also provided for eligible students.

The boys' hostel is situated near our college building, i.e., on its premises. The girls' hostel is situated at a distance of around 85 km away from the college. Girls hostel is situated in Vidyanagar town, and there are bus facilities from the college to that hostel. The hostel is good and under proper security. But for the food, students need to adjust. There is a volleyball court, football ground, cricket ground and other sports like table tennis, etc. The gym equipment is also available.
Faculty: Faculty members here are very good. The best reason for me to choose this college is its excellent teachers. They teach students very carefully and provide proper guidance. The HOD of the aeronautical branch is very well experienced, and his notes are very much informative and well written, so none of the students needs to study extra material. Other faculty members are also well qualified, and they also provide proper notes and guidance.
Other: The most recent and interesting branch is aeronautics, and it attracts students to study about flights and its mechanism. So, I have chosen it.
