An insightful journey: Reviewing English Honours at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College.
Placements: During the 2022-2023 recruitment season, SBSC achieved over 290 offers, with more than 70 companies visiting the campus for placements. The highest salary package offered is 12.65 LPA by ZS Associate. Top recruiting companies like Deloitte USI, KPMG India, KPMG Global, PwC India, Extramarks Education, and Byju's visit the college for placements. The placement cell has collaborated with firms like Deloitte, GSM, DE Shaw, and EY to offer internships. Top roles are offered in various sectors, including finance, consulting, and education.
Infrastructure: Shaheed Bhagat Singh College does not have its own hostel, so students from outside Delhi usually opt for private accommodation, PGs, or DU-affiliated hostels in nearby colleges. The college canteen offers a variety of affordable and hygienic food options. The quality of the food is decent, with regular items like snacks, meals, and beverages that cater to the taste of most students. The college has a basic medical room to handle first aid and minor emergencies. For serious health concerns, students often rely on nearby hospitals or clinics. SBSC has a commendable sports culture.
Faculty: Shaheed Bhagat Singh College boasts highly qualified and experienced faculty members for English Honours. Teachers are approachable, knowledgeable, and supportive. They often go the extra mile to clarify doubts and guide students. The English Honours course curriculum at DU is comprehensive and well-structured, offering a mix of classical, modern, and contemporary literature. While it sharpens critical thinking, analytical skills, and communication, it may not directly prepare students for specific industries. Semester exams are moderately challenging. It is designed to test a deep understanding of the text and concepts taught. Regular study and active participation in class can make exams manageable.

Our college is very good.
Placements: Placement statistics vary depending on the institution, location, and industry. However, here are some general trends. About 50-70% of the students get placed here. The highest salary package offered ranges from 5-10 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges from 2-4 LPA. The lowest salary package offered ranges from 1.5-2.5 LPA. Some prominent companies that recruit B.A. graduates include consulting firms like Deloitte and Ernst & Young, financial institutions like HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank, Marketing and advertising agencies like Ogilvy and Wipro, and human resources and recruitment firms like government organizations and NGOs.
Infrastructure: Many institutions provide high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity across campus. There are well-equipped labs and workshops for hands-on learning and experimentation. There are modern and spacious classrooms with audio-visual equipment. The library is well-stocked with sprint and digital resources, study areas, and research assistance. The hostel has sharing or single rooms with basic amenities like beds, desks, and storage. On-campus dining facilities provide a range of cuisine options. On-campus there are medical centers or there is a tie-up with a local hospital for emergency care. There are facilities for indoor and outdoor sports.
Faculty: Faculty members are qualified and knowledgeable with relevant industry experience. They are helpful and approachable professors who encourage discussions and debates. Regular feedback and guidance are provided to improve student performance. The course curriculum is relevant and up-to-date aligned with industry needs. It has a well-structured course curriculum with a balance of theoretical and practical aspects. It provides opportunities for specialisation or electives to enhance skill sets. Exams are challenging but fair. Semester exams test students' understanding and application of concepts. There is regular assessment and evaluation to monitor students' progress. There is transparent grading system with clear rubrics and feedback mechanisms.

Dissatisfied because of overall infrastructure.
Placements: The percentage of the students who were placed in my course was 55 percent. The highest package was 6 lacs, and the average package was 4 lacs. The lowest package was 2.5 lacs. Many reputed companies came to our college for recruitment, and many students also got internships.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for my course/ department. Wi-Fi facilities are available for faculties only. Labs and classrooms are average-sized and not cleaned daily. The washrooms are not good, and the quality of food available in the mess and canteen is acceptable.
Faculty: The teachers are not well qualified and knowledgeable. They do not provide enough resources for study so that students can perform well in the examinations. Our course is not curriculum-relevant because not much happens apart from studies and lectures.

"Supportive Dance Society, Average Faculty, and Conflicting Schedules."
Placements: As a B.Com H student in my first semester at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, DU, I’ve realized that placements and internships typically happen later in the course. However, based on what I’ve heard from seniors, companies like Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and ICICI Bank are some of the top recruiters for B.Com H students. The average package ranges from 4-5 LPA, with the highest being around 6-8 LPA. Around 60-70% of students get internships, and many end up interning with big names like Ernst & Young and HDFC.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi availability at all. Classrooms are alright. The morning library was still under construction for the whole four months when I attended the college. The evening library is good, but there are fewer seats, so one has to wait. The canteen is affordable.
Faculty: Yes, the faculty is good and they are helpful. The curriculum is relevant and apt, and it does make the students industry-ready. DU offers value-added courses, which help in boosting knowledge. I'm yet to give my exams. The passing percentage is 35% overall.
Other: I wish to pursue a career in marketing and/or the finance industry. The best thing is the Management subject and Tally practicals, as they're easy. I wish there was more practical knowledge, rather than making education a repetitive process of students going through last year’s question papers and just making it through the years. There were no such fests; they hosted one fest, which was pretty underwhelming. The campus surroundings are dirty, with cattle, garbage, and garbage spots.

College of Commerce with Commercial Knowledge and skills.
Placements: I never sought placement through my college, so I don't have in-depth knowledge about it. However, based on my rough understanding and some conversations with others, I can share a few observations. Students become eligible for placement in their third year. Companies like Deloitte visit our college, and approximately 30-40 offers are made each year. The average package offered is around 5 LPA. As for my future plans, I intend to get involved in taxation after graduation.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is well-maintained. The library is well-stocked with books from various disciplines, and the laboratories cater to the needs of different departments such as Maths, Commerce, and Geography. The college has a sports room that is accessible to all students, and multiple WhatsApp groups are used to notify and update students with various announcements. The college actively encourages sports such as volleyball, basketball, cricket, and football. Wi-Fi is available throughout the college, and the classrooms are spacious, hygienic, and conducive to learning. While the college does not provide hostel facilities, there is a canteen, cafeteria, and a medical room available for students.
Faculty: The course structure is determined by Delhi University, but in terms of teaching methods, I believe the faculty could engage students more effectively. Teachers should focus on providing new learning opportunities rather than promoting rote learning. The curriculum could also benefit from some modernization. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce, and I opted for this course as I was not fully aware of other options at the time. Additionally, not having studied Maths in 12th grade limited my choices.
Other: I chose this course without knowing much about other available options. The best thing about this course is that it is a professional course with a relatively easy syllabus. However, there is room for more practical, industry-relevant content. The student crowd is good, and with approximately 2000 students, the college provides a lively environment. The college's location is also convenient, as it is close to the market. The Student Aid Fund offers scholarships for fee concessions, and extracurricular activities such as Theatre, Poetry, Film Making, Debate, and Sports are actively promoted. The college organizes an annual event called Kalakriti.

Lacking in education in 2021. You need to work on your skills .
Placements: So there's no placement in my college but that doesn't mean that you can't get a job in high-value companies. I recommend all of you that you work on your skills also, not just depending on your degree; for sure, after working on your communication skills, you will get anything.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of my college was quite good and books are available in the library. The totally silent environment of the library as it is but the classroom needs to improve. The benches are not good and with 90-100 students in just one class, we can't even raise our hands for any doubts. And about hostels, some of my friends used to live in hostels at KATWARIYA SARAI DELHI for 1000-1500 per head with 4 sharing partners only for boys, including lunch and dinner meals, and hostel meals are just average food .
Faculty: Some of teachers are really good; you can raise your hand hundreds of times for your doubts; they will help you but some teachers ignore them. That's why we need tuition for specific subjects. The difficulty level of exams is just medium. For passing marks, you need to score 33.5 percent.
Other: Actually, I chose this course because I am good with these subjects like political science and history and about events and fests. Things are really important to join; otherwise, you will miss the moments but expect this part: you will get many types of social clubs and lots of groups. Every type of knowledgeable person there will grab as much as you can seriously .
