Great place to find a good career if you’re willing to sacrifice college life.
Placements: Almost 70 percent of students who looked for placements got placed by the end of the third year. The highest package, to my knowledge, was 16 lakhs per year. McKinsey and Amazon were some of the top companies recruiting students from my course. About 30 percent of students got internships in my class from companies that were local to Mumbai, and some others got internships with companies all the way in Bangalore. Statistical analytics, data handling, etc., are some of the roles offered after the bachelor's degree.
Infrastructure: All the classrooms are top-notch with smart facilities, and the library contains tens of thousands of books where we can find almost anything that we look for. Although the Wi-Fi facilities offered were bad, and we rarely got network on campus. The mess and canteen are very good, offering food from all parts of India. The hostel is mediocre, and sports and games are not given importance; the college doesn’t even have a football court of its own.
Faculty: Teachers are very qualified, and the teaching quality is always maintained. Surveys are conducted each semester to maintain teaching quality; however, little is taught to make students ready for work. Semester exams are relatively hard, and the pass mark required is 40 percent.
Other: Events and fests are really overrated in the college; I personally found nothing enjoyable, and it is always too crowded. The campus is very small, hardly any space for all those students.

Review of St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.
Placements: Our college places students in all courses. The majority of placements are made in BMS, BA economics, and BSC IT courses. The third year, the fifth semester, is when the placement process begins. The highest salary package offered is 24 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is around 4 LPA - 5 LPA. About 30% of students got placed in our college.
Infrastructure: There is no girls' hostel. The campus has a boys' hostel. In terms of scholarly books and periodicals available, the library is doing fairly well. The technical resources at hand are good.
Faculty: The course curriculum is designed in a way that allows it to be updated frequently to reflect all the latest developments in media. It truly helps us to be ready for the real world because it is more on the practical side. Numerous facts of journalism and public communication are included in the curriculum. It includes sociology, audio and video production, and radio and film reading and appreciation. These disciplines are taught using incredibly inventive and imaginative techniques. Every semester, there are two internal exams and one final semester exam. We have extremely wonderful instructors in our course. It was led by the late Perriyanayagi Subramanian, who created the department as a whole and this course in a way that makes them both enduring. The department continues to function incredibly well even after her passing. Experts from many fields are assigned to instruct the department's students. Rather than emphasizing theory, BAMCJ is more of a practical course that involves projects and real-world application work. Since the course itself is media-related and is constantly being updated, the curriculum is constantly evolving to reflect the state of the globe.
Other: In general, I didn't have a very positive experience. IIT Mumbai's colleges don't have a campus culture. Events are very commercial. The most well-known festivals include Zephyrus, Zeitgeist, MVM, Malhar, etc.

The college has its merits and demerits.
Placements: More or less, the internships are with Stanly Morgan, but the departmental internships are not up to par. It's better to find your own internships via LinkedIn. It is said that the companies are in plenty, but that feels like a lie. Overall, just because of the name, you can get placements wherever you want.
Infrastructure: There are no ACs, but the overall infrastructure is nice. The projector works fine. The Gymkhana is nice, and the sports in college are plentiful. The library has its own vibe; it feels like you are studying in Hogwarts, but the books are outdated in many aspects. The lending and reference libraries are two different libraries.
Faculty: It's more theoretical. It would be more practical to have real-life field visits, but the college doesn't have that. It gives you a better understanding of how real life works. Most of the faculty hired are real-life working professionals, and their insights help a lot.
Other: The fests are plentiful, but after a while, it feels forced to participate to earn ECC points.

Overall, St. Xavier’s is a place where you’ll always have a good time.
Placements: There are multiple types of internships that pop up on the college notices, offering opportunities in various departments. You can apply to these internships, which come with different tasks and responsibilities. The application process is quite straightforward if you have the required skills.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure are absolutely amazing. The whole college feels like it’s straight out of Harry Potter. Labs and classrooms are very well-organized, and there’s a proper medical area and two libraries: the ending and reference libraries, which allow books to be borrowed. The canteen offers a wide range of food options, including both non-veg and veg choices. Numerous sports events are conducted that you can join and participate in.
Faculty: The teachers are knowledgeable and well-educated. The teaching process and course curriculum are thoroughly structured and easy to understand. There are internal exams worth 20 marks, as well as main semester exams, which are manageable if you understand the reading material thoroughly.
Other: I chose this course because it offered my major in Psychology and a minor in English, which I was eager to study. The best aspect of the course is the new self-financed Psychology program, ensuring that my major will remain consistent each year, regardless of my marks. The events, college life, and crowd are all amazing and fun. There’s always something happening at the college, and it’s enjoyable to take part in or volunteer for various activities.

In St Xavier's college, you feel like you are at your home.
Placements: For placements, companies start visiting our college in the second year only. Our college provides a placement cell which plays an intermediate role between students and companies. Companies schedule their pre-placement talks with students. Interested students further initiate the process to get selected in the organisation.
Infrastructure: It is a very old and known college so to maintain its aura and name. Our college always focuses on its infrastructure. The basic infrastructure model is the same which was made at the beginning of the college. Only some modification is done in the new buildings. Overall, our college has a great infrastructure with every facility which an institution should have.
Faculty: Our faculty members are very helpful in every way and are also very supportive. Our college focuses on every student and tries to provide us with the best teachers.
Other: Due to the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, our college is currently organising online exams, and I hope the college will reopen soon.

Life in Xavier's is different for everyone.
Placements: Xavier's does offer placements to students of all courses, but the students of BMS, BA Economics, and BSc IT courses get placed the most. The placement process starts from the third year, 5th semester. The highest package offered is around 24 LPA, and the least would be 4-5 LPA. Around 30% of students get placed out of those who opt for placements.
Infrastructure: The BAMCJ department and classrooms are pretty decent with good facilities. The library is common for all departments. The department appoints professionals from different areas of work to teach its students. BAMCJ is more of a practical-based course, which includes projects and practical application work rather than theory. There is a studio available for BAMCJ students. There is no hostel for girls, but they do have a boys' hostel inside the campus.
Faculty: The course curriculum is designed to be updated frequently to include all the new developments in media. As it focuses more on the practical side, it helps us prepare for the real world. The curriculum includes various aspects of mass communication and journalism, such as radio, audio-visual production, film appreciation, sociology, etc. The teaching methods for these subjects are also very innovative and creative. There are two internal exams and one main semester exam conducted for every semester.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to do something in media and this college because of its fame, name, and faculty. The faculty members for my course, which is BAMCJ, are really great. However, my overall experience was not that great. Colleges in Mumbai do not have much of a campus life (except IIT Bombay, of course), and all the fests were extremely commercial. The most famous fests include Malhar, Zeitgeist, MVM, Zephyrus, etc. The library is pretty good regarding the availability of academic books and journals, and the technical facilities available are also decent.
