SEED 2025 exam pattern - The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) has released the exam patter for SEED 2025 on its official website.
It contains the structure of the SEED 2024 question paper, including the types of questions being asked, the marking scheme, exam duration, and mode.
Candidates by consulting the exam pattern will thus be able to align their preparation as per the requirements of the exam and optimize their chances of success.
The Symbiosis Institute of Design conducted the SEED 2025 entrance exam on January 12, 2024.
Candidates who qualify in the written exam next have to appear in a PRPI. To prepare the final merit list, the admission committee will consider the performance of the candidate in both 1) SEED and 2) PRPI rounds.

Q: When can I upload my portfolio for PRPI round of SEED 2025?
The start date for uploading portfolios is March 27, 2025. The portfolio upload link was given on the SID admission portal. The candidate needed to follow the specified guidelines when uploading the portfolio.
The portfolio contained the following elements:
Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work
Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
Photography
3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products etc.
Q: When will call letters be issued for SEED 2025 Personal Interview?
The call letters for the personal interview (PRPI admit card) were issued on March 21, 2025. The admit card were issued only to candidates who complete the slot booking process.
Note hard copies of the call letter are sent to the candidate.
On the day of the PRPI, the candidate will have to display the admit card on demand. Any candidate failing to do so will not be allowed to sit in the exam.
Q: When will SEED 2025 application form open for M.Des?
The application form of SEED 2025 is now OPEN for the M.Des program.
Candidates who met the prescribed eligibility criteria can apply from August 14 to December 25, 2025.
The application form has to be submitted online at sid.edu.in (application link also given on this page).
As part of the application filling process, the candidate has to get registered, fill in the form, upload documents, and pay the application fee.
The SID admission registration fee is Rs. 3250/- (Rs. 2250 for SEED & Rs. 1000 for SID)
SEED Exam 2025 Pattern: Entrance Test
The exam pattern for SEED 2025 is given below.
- The SEED will be a 60-minute exam containing 60 questions.
- The questions could be MCQ, Match the Columns, Fill in the blanks, image-based and comprehension-based.
- The paper will contain a mix of questions related to Visual Sensitivity and Judgement, Observational, Perceptual, and Reasoning abilities, Problem-Solving, Basic knowledge of Logic of Science and Mathematics, Art, Craft and Culture, Design and Environment.

Q: Are there any specific requirement for uploading portfolio for SEED PRPI?
The digital portfolio should be a compilation of the best work of the candidate that showcases teh candidate’s skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques.
It is recommended to take good quality pictures of this work and compile them in a Power Point Presentation. Note that a maximum 15 slides are allowed.
You need to then convert this into PDF (max size 5 MB). Try to be different and include unique and interesting things.
Q: When will the exam pattern of SEED 2025 be released?
The exam pattern for the SEED 2025 exam will be released tentatively in September 2024. The pattern will be released online at the official website of the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) - sid.edu.in. The candidate needs to follow the updated exam pattern when preparing for the SEED 2025 exam.
The exam pattern will contain information like the mode and structure of the entrance exam. In the previous edition, the SEED exam was administered in an online proctored mode (PC/Laptop-based exam). The duration of the exam is one hour and can conducted between 11 am and 4 pm.
Q: Where can I check the exam pattern of SEED 2025?
The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) on its official website - sid.edu.in. To check the exam pattern, go to the admission portal, and under “Programmes, ” click on the “Admission Process” tab.
Note that the institute hasn’t yet released the exam pattern for the SEED 2024 exam. It is expected that the exam pattern will be released sometime in September 2024. In the meantime, the candidate may go through the exam pattern for the previous edition and prepare accordingly.
SEED Exam 2025 Pattern: Portfolio Review
If a candidate qualifies SEED 2025, he/she would be eligible to appear for SID’s Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI). Shortlisting for admission will be based only on the specialization selected during online registration.
The portfolio may contain:
- Sketches, mixed-media illustrations, and digital work
- Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
- Photography
- 3D objects like sculptures, fabric products, gadgets, art-inspired products, etc.

Perform the PRPI Task. This will be shared 3 days prior to the chosen date of online PRPI. Upload the PRPI Task on the portal a day prior to the PRPI.
Q: How can one distinguish between a self-made portfolio or a readymade portfolio for SEED 2025?
For an experienced faculty, it is not very difficult to distinguish work that is self-made or ready-made. During the Personal Interaction round, the candidate will be asked questions based on their submitted portfolio. If any unfair means are observed, the candidature will stand cancelled. The specifications reqiuired for submitting the portfolio will be notified by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) at the time of release of the admission notification or sometime thereabout.
The portfolio shoud be uploaded in a digital format and should be not more that 5 MB. Also, the portfolio must be a presented in the form of a Power Point Presentation of maximum 15 slides.

Candidates who get shortlisted on the basis of their portfolios are required to attend this round. In this round, candidates are asked questions related to the program they have opted for. Q: Will I be asked to draw or sketch some article during the SEED 2025 personal interaction round?
Yes, there is a possibility that one can be asked to. The candidate must have basic stationery including pen, paper, and pencils available during their PI session. The personal interaction round of SEED 2025 will be conducted online. Candidates who are shortlisted for personal interaction will have to book their slots within the given window. Note that slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Q: Can a handmade portfolio be presented at the time of PI round for SEED 2025?

There is no negative marking in SEED 2025. So, even if the candidates makes any wrong attempts, no marks will be deducted. The SEED 2025 question paper will include a total of 60 questiions that the candidate has to attempt in 60 minutes. Each question will carry +1 mark.
Given the candidate has only one minute per question, the candidate must work on their time managent. Also, even though there is no negative marking, the candidate must try to improve their strike rate or the number of correct attempts. This will help the candidate improve their changes of getting a better score and thus improve their chances of admission.
Q: What items must be included in the SEED 2025 portfolio?
Candidates who get shortlisted for the PRPI round has to upload a digital portfolio. The portfolio may include the following items:

In addition to the items listed above, the candidate may also include any other item that represents the candidate’s passion and abilities.
Q: Where should I upload the SEED 2025 Portfolio?
The portfolio upload link will be made available on the official website after the Personal Interaction slot is booked by the candidate. The specific dates will be notified by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). In the last edition of the SEED entrance exam, the portfolio submission window was open from April 11-19, 2023. Note that along with the portfolio, the candidate will also be required to upload the portfolio task assigned to them.

SID doesn't offer any short term / distance courses. The institute presently offers only full time Under- Graduate degree courses.
At the UG level, the institute offers a regular B.Des program, while a hybrid M.Des program is offered at the PG level.
Admission to both courses will be through the SEED

Candidates who are allotted seats will have to pay the seat-acceptance fee within the given deadline. If the payment is not made, the allotment will be cancelled. Further, the vacant seat will be offered to the candidate next in the order of merit.

Yes, the shortlisted candidates will have to appear in a Studio Test. SID will conduct the Strudio Test and Personal Interaction (STPI) from May 9-11, 2025.
Candidates who are included in the STPI shortlist need to participate. Note that the shortlist will be released on May 6, 2025.

The SID admission portal mentions nothing about the validity of the SEED 2025 scorecard.
Nonetheless, it can be presumed that the SEED scorecard will be valid for the current admission session only. So, if you qualify in SEED 2025, you need to apply for admission in the current academic session only.

There is no harm in taking mocks hosted by coaching institutes. However, note that mocks tests by third parties are typically not free and you have to pay a specific fee.
So, make it a point to take the official mocks first, as they are free and also coveres the exam syllabus.

The SEED 2025 exam will be administered in remote-proctored mode.
This means, you are not required to visit any exam center to take the exam. Instead, you can appear in the exam from any place of your chooseing, provided you have a computer system and internet.

NIFT is attempted by some 50,000 candidates every year and is considered the toughest entrance exams in the country, along with NID and UCEED.
In comparision, SEED is less competitive.
So, you have better chance of admission through SEED.

The M.Des program has an intake of 20 seats. The Symbiosis Institute of Design hasn't given any category-wise reservation.
This means all seats will be treated as open category.
The allotment of seats to the M.Des program will be as per SEED 2025 merit rank.
