The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will conduct the written exam of SEED 2025 on January 12, 2025. The application form for SEED 2025 is currently OPEN.
The SID admission portal hosts the SEED 2025 syllabus that candidates can refer to for exam preparation. However, note that if SID changes the syllabus for the upcoming exam, the candidate has to incorporate it in the SEED exam preparation.

Scores of the WRITTEN exam will be used to shortlist candidates for a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI).

Q: When can I upload my portfolio for PRPI round of SEED 2025?
The start date for uploading portfolios is March 27, 2025. The portfolio upload link was given on the SID admission portal. The candidate needed to follow the specified guidelines when uploading the portfolio.
The portfolio contained the following elements:
Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work
Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
Photography
3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products etc.
Q: Are there any specific requirement for uploading portfolio for SEED PRPI?
The digital portfolio should be a compilation of the best work of the candidate that showcases teh candidate’s skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques.
It is recommended to take good quality pictures of this work and compile them in a Power Point Presentation. Note that a maximum 15 slides are allowed.
You need to then convert this into PDF (max size 5 MB). Try to be different and include unique and interesting things.
Q: When will call letters be issued for SEED 2025 Personal Interview?
The call letters for the personal interview (PRPI admit card) were issued on March 21, 2025. The admit card were issued only to candidates who complete the slot booking process.
Note hard copies of the call letter are sent to the candidate.
On the day of the PRPI, the candidate will have to display the admit card on demand. Any candidate failing to do so will not be allowed to sit in the exam.
SEED Exam Syllabus 2025
SEED syllabus is such that this Design Aptitude Test would have questions on design-related topics. SEED exam evaluates aspirants on the basis of their aptitude in design. Aspirants can go through indicative topics from which questions might be asked in SEED.
SEED Syllabus: Visualisation
Understanding and visualization of simple and complex 2D & 3D geometric shapes, their manipulations, and spatial relationships through representations in pictorial and geometric forms.
SEED Syllabus: Observational, perceptual and reasoning abilities
Ability to read and see objects and information beyond obvious details, make connections, make comparisons, form opinions, and draw meanings & conclusions. Analyze your observations, express your point of view, and present in a systematic and structured manner.
SEED Syllabus: Creative and problem-solving abilities
Ability to visualize and relate images around us. Ability to identify a problem and attempt to provide solutions.
SEED Syllabus: Application of basic knowledge of Science and Mathematics
Observing the application of basic principles of science and mathematics taught up to standard 10th in the day-to-day activities & objects and finding interesting relevance.
SEED Syllabus: Art, craft, culture, design, and environment
General awareness of Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment in India as well as in a global context. Various topics and sub-topics related to people, material, tools, techniques, issues & concerns, influences, period, and contemporary trends.

SEED Syllabus 2025: Portfolio Presentation
Candidates who qualify in the written exams will have to upload a portfolio as part of the Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI). The link to upload the portfolio will be activated on the SID admission portal soon after the SEED 2025 shortlist for the PRPI has been declared.
The eligible candidate will have to upload the portfolio as per the given format and specifications.
Note that the portfolio must be in digital format and must be a compilation of the students best works. It must showcase the skills, passion, interest of the candidate in a variety of areas and techiniques.
The works must be compiled in a Power Point Presentation of maximum 15 slides. The candidate has to convert this a PDF of up to 5 Mb.
Try to include unique and interesting things in the portfolio.
The submitted portfolios will be reviewed by a panel of interviewers.

Q: Are there any coaching classes/ preparatory classes that candidates can take to prepare for SEED 2025?
As per the information given on SID website, the institute does not promote or is aware of any coaching classes/preparatory classes. So, the candidate has the discretion to decide whether the want to join any coaching institute of not. Note that there are many coaching institutes that offer preparatory classes for exams like NIFT, NID DAT, etc.
The candidate also has the option of downloading preparation materials online. But note that most practice materials are chargeable.

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) doesn’t frequently change the syllabus for the SEED exam. That being said SID reserves the right to make any changes to the syllabus keeping in the mind the changing dynamics of design as an academic discipline. SID doesn't offer any short term / distance courses. The institute presently offers only full time Under- Graduate degree courses.
At the UG level, the institute offers a regular B.Des program, while a hybrid M.Des program is offered at the PG level.
Admission to both courses will be through the SEED

Candidates who are allotted seats will have to pay the seat-acceptance fee within the given deadline. If the payment is not made, the allotment will be cancelled. Further, the vacant seat will be offered to the candidate next in the order of merit.

Yes, the shortlisted candidates will have to appear in a Studio Test. SID will conduct the Strudio Test and Personal Interaction (STPI) from May 9-11, 2025.
Candidates who are included in the STPI shortlist need to participate. Note that the shortlist will be released on May 6, 2025.

The SID admission portal mentions nothing about the validity of the SEED 2025 scorecard.
Nonetheless, it can be presumed that the SEED scorecard will be valid for the current admission session only. So, if you qualify in SEED 2025, you need to apply for admission in the current academic session only.

There is no harm in taking mocks hosted by coaching institutes. However, note that mocks tests by third parties are typically not free and you have to pay a specific fee.
So, make it a point to take the official mocks first, as they are free and also coveres the exam syllabus.

The SEED 2025 exam will be administered in remote-proctored mode.
This means, you are not required to visit any exam center to take the exam. Instead, you can appear in the exam from any place of your chooseing, provided you have a computer system and internet.

NIFT is attempted by some 50,000 candidates every year and is considered the toughest entrance exams in the country, along with NID and UCEED.
In comparision, SEED is less competitive.

The M.Des program has an intake of 20 seats. The Symbiosis Institute of Design hasn't given any category-wise reservation.
This means all seats will be treated as open category.
The allotment of seats to the M.Des program will be as per SEED 2025 merit rank.
