Vivekananda College, Kolkata Good for B.A.?

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Pros:
    * The college has qualified and knowledgeable teachers who are helpful and supportive.
    * The B.A. course is relevant and prepares students for the industry with internship experience.
    * The college has good infrastructure, including modern classrooms, a library with a wide range of books, and a playground.
    * There are various extracurricular activities and events organized throughout the year.
    * Scholarships are available for deserving students.

    Cons:
    * Placements are limited, and most students opt for further education instead of directly joining the workforce.
    * The course curriculum could be updated to incorporate more recent knowledge and trends.
    * Some students feel that the fieldwork component could be improved upon.
    * The college doesn't provide placement assistance or help students find job opportunities.

A short note on my college.
Placements: Currently, I'm pursuing English honours. As per my knowledge, I got to know that for the past two years, students and the students of the final year used to get recruitment from various fields. One of the recent recruitment was from Senco Gold and diamond. Which recruited some students from our department also.
Infrastructure: Now our college has installed Wi-Fi in every block for students as well as for professors. There is no hostel facility in our college as students from nearby areas used to take admission in this college. The canteen is very spacious as well as well managed and clean.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and very polite. The passing percentage is 30%. The exams are not very tough if you don't study properly. The question papers are in a standard form. The professors also help us in various ways and projects. Although the faculty is more or less good.
Other: I have chosen this course as I like to study literature and want to know in depth about it. The best thing about my course is that it also contains other subject combinations which will help you to build your skills in other fields. Also, there are lots of events and fests which are celebrated in our college.

A review of the college by a 1st semester student.
Placements: 70% of the students were placed as of my knowledge. I didn't know about the lowest but the highest package was 20 LPA. The placements were good, as I am told by the seniors. As I am a semester 1 student, I don't have extensive knowledge about the placements.
Infrastructure: Yes, there is wifi in the whole college. As I am doing a BA in English, I don't need any labs or stuff. The classrooms are well lit and have multiple fans. The library is well stocked; I can get all my required books there. There are no hostels on the college campus as of now. The canteen is okay and affordable.
Faculty: The teachers were very helpful and friendly toward us. They are knowledgeable as well. They really helped us to understand the deep concept of tough poems. The teaching quality is impressive. They can be strict sometimes but they are really helpful. The semester exams are moderate; if you study hard, you can easily crack them.
Other: I love English literature, which is why I chose this course. I wish the syllabus consisted more of English literature so we could experience more.

Vivekananda College: Presidency College of South Kolkata.
Placements: There are 30% to 40% of students placed in my course in different media houses. The students basically do internships, and that is yearly 60,000 Rs. Top recruitment is from various small media houses and online platforms. Very few percentages of students got internships from my course, and the companies are also small. The top role is either to do higher studies or join a media house.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms have Wi-Fi, the lab is fully AC, Wi-Fi, smart gadgets, multimedia player, board, duster. The library is full of books, so many books that you don’t have to buy from other shops. This college doesn’t provide a hostel, but you can get various PGs beside the college. The canteen is overpriced, and the cook is average. The college has a cricket and a football team.
Faculty: Teachers are always there to help, well-learned, well-maintained, qualified, and knowledgeable. This course is not so much curriculum-relevant. Students have to do 2–3 internships to be industry-ready. Semester exams are not very hard. You have to go to a different college to give the exam.
Other: I chose the course because I wanted to be a journalist. The best thing is this course has so much fieldwork, which is very important for the next work life. This college has many more events: Freshers, Teachers' Day, Farewell, government holidays, and various fairs that happen in the college. Students can get the Vivekananda Scholarship if they score 60% in the past exams.

Good placement, internships, great teaching faculty and campus.
Placements: There is a good amount of around a hundred students in B.A. Journalism Honors and B.A. Journalism Multidisciplinary combined. The college gives out internships in a fair amount, especially more from this year since internships are mandatory. The students get internships from companies like News 18 Bangla, TV9 Bangla, ABP, etc.
Infrastructure: The college has impressive computer labs, neat and clean large classrooms. The library provides a wide extensive range of books that are very useful. The college also has a huge playground, a games room, and a rock climbing wall which are student favorites. The canteen provides fresh hot food that is sold at a low rate for the students' ease.
Faculty: The teachers are all qualified and very knowledgeable. Some of them are also very strict, which comes off as ultimately being helpful later in life. The teachers do take out time to personally help students if the students need it. The B.A. course is very relevant as it does make you industry-ready because each and every one of the students comes out with internship experience that was provided by the college.
Other: I chose this course as there are more career options present in this course and the subject itself is so captivating and interesting. The thing I wish would be better about my course is Fieldwork. I wish we get more experience with the Fieldwork that is very much needed in this course. The college hosts a winter event called "Social" every year where artists like Sonu Nigam and KK have come and performed. The college also provides good scholarship programs.

Great faculty and infrastructure. Overall, satisfied with the quality of education.
Placements: Less than 10 percent students get placed. The highest package offered is 2.4 LPA. The lowest package is of 1.8 LPA. Average package is of 2 LPA. Top recruiting company - State Bank of India. No internships whatsoever. Front desk job roles are offered by the placement companies.
Infrastructure: Well-equipped classrooms with smart class support. Library has a good collection of books. No hostel facility. Food quality in the canteen is pretty average. Decent medical facilities available in case of any urgent crisis. Indoor sports such as carrom, table tennis are available. Outdoor sports facilities include those of rock climbing, Cricket, football, and badminton.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are highly knowledgeable and qualified. Teaching quality is great however little efforts are made on smart learning and use of digital facilities. The course is curriculum relevant and does make the students industry ready. Semester exams are pretty difficult with the average SGPA one can score being 5.5. Pass percentage is 85 percent.
Other: The course offers a great opportunity to make one ready if they are willing to join the education industry. However, digital learning could be implemented in a more effective way to provide interactive lessons. Awesome events including socials, and fests are hosted by the college. Extracurricular activities such as drama, dance, painting, debates etc.etera are conducted with great interest.

All about my college experiences .
Placements: I am currently pursuing English honours. I don't have knowledge about the companies which recruit from our college. But recently Senco Gold came for the recruitment. Recently a summer internship is also going on for those who are not willing to continue after the 2nd semester.
Infrastructure: There are available classes but we have to attend the class in seminar room and another room which is in 2nd floor. There is not hostel facility in our campus. There are computer labs and library facilities for both the morning and the day shift.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and will clear your doubt whenever they are available with a smile on their face. They are much concerned about the course and other academic works. Our course makes the student industry ready. The passing marks out of 75 is 23. The question paper comes in standard level.
Other: I chose this college because its nearby my house. The English faculty is really good. There are a lot of fests celebrated in this college. There are some spots events also which are conducted during the winter season.
