Q:   Can I prepare for CEED exam without coaching?

A:

It is very much possible to prepare for CEED without coaching. But before you embark on exam preparation on your own, you need the conviction that you can do it. If you are not convinced yourself and only decide to forgo coaching on the advice of others, the journey may be difficult.

If you prepare for the exam on your own, you need to be serious and plan the preparation smartly. For instance, after going through the syllabus, you must be able to decide the difficulty level, time it will take to cover the syllabus, and do revision.

Remember, there are many instances of toppers who managed to ace the CEED exam without the aid of any coaching. Further, the final outcome may not depend on whether you do coaching or not, but the quality of your preparation.

CEED Exam Analysis 2018

Part A carried a total of 100 marks and was divided into five sections. Part B was a drawing test that consisted of eight questions. Questions numbered 1 to 5 were optional, each representing a discipline in design. Here, the students had to choose from any one of the first five questions and answer it. The weightage of these questions was 50 marks. The next three questions numbered 6, 7, and 8 with weightage of 20 marks, 20 marks, and 10 marks, respectively. These questions were compulsory for all students. Therefore, out of eight questions given in the paper, a student had to answer four questions, in total.

Q:   Will I be allocated a CEED 2025 merit rank if I do not qualify Part A?

A:

IIT Bombay will release the Part A cut-off marks for CEED 2025 on February 6, 2025.

The Part B answer booklets will be evaluated only if the candidate meet Part A cut-off, or in other words qualifies Part A. If the candidate fails to qualify Part A, his Part B answer booklet will not be evaluated.

Consequently, he will not be allocated a merit rank, total score, and Part B marks.

So, if you want to be assigned a merit rank, you need to meet the cut-off score for Part A and get shortlisted. IIT Bombay will release the cut-off marks for Part A before the declaration of CEED 2025 results.

Note that if you are not allocated a merit rank, you will not be eligible to participate in CEED 2025 counseling and seat-allotment process.

CEED Exam Analysis 2017

MCQs had a negative marking of 0.6 marks for every wrong answer, while unanswered questions did not fetch any marks nor incurred any penalty. The deviation from last year was that, this year the NAT did not have any negative marks.

Overall, the paper was a little difficult and the branch-specific questions were lengthy compared to previous years’ papers. While Part A contained difficult aptitude questions, Part B comprised even tougher concept-building and sketching questions. Also, many candidates were expecting a full length of 50 marks for the sketching questions and had practiced a lot for it, but were highly disappointed when such questions carried only 20 marks, and that too had a choice of two.

CEED 2016 Exam Analysis

Part B consisted of compulsory questions of 50 marks followed by a single 50 marks question which could be selected from a set of four questions. The pattern for compulsory questions was slightly different than last year. This was primarily because 30 marks were allocated to memory drawing, followed by 20 marks for idea generation questions, and finally 10 marks for story writing. For the optional 50-mark question, the pattern of last year was repeated, where a candidate could choose to attempt a question out of four choices. These four choices were chosen from a specific branch of design, namely, product design, animation, visual communication, and interaction design.
