5 reasons to pursue BTech in Wireless Communication

3 mins readUpdated on Nov 22, 2021 15:25 IST

Wireless communication has, over the past few decades, redrawn and reshaped the way we exchange information and data. Every little change in wireless communication technology has proven to be a giant leap when it comes to data sharing, with constant improvements being introduced at frequent intervals.

Wireless communication basically involves exchanging data over long or short distances using wireless technologies and devices that use wireless signals, instead of cable or wires.

The technology is cost-effective, compared to cable networks which involve huge infrastructural outlays. This has not only benefited the big companies, it has also opened up the market for the smaller players who now get an even playing field because of the economical technology.

This, in turn, has ensured that not a single aspect of our lives or that of the global economy is left untouched.

Every sector of the economy today – be it banking, agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare or transportation – uses some form of wireless technology such as satellite, mobile, wireless networks, infrared, wi-fi, broadcast radio, radar or bluetooth.

Emerging technologies like 5G, Internet of Things and Machine Learning also depend upon strong wireless networks for optimum functioning.

Below are five reasons to pursue a BTech in Wireless Communication:

Wireless is the future

Wireless is the future. The speed at which the world is changing, it would be a safe bet to presume that we are making a rapid transition from a wired environment towards a completely wireless one. The fusion of revolutionary new technologies like 5G, the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence has shaken things up. There is an increased need for robust wireless networks for the smooth operation and performances of devices and technologies. “Wireless networks are the backbone for emerging technology of today like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, the Internet of Things and Cloud. Thus, it’s always in demand and can’t be ignored to get your business running in the market,” Dr Rajeev Tiwari, Senior Associate Professor, Engineer-Computer Science, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) Dehradun, says. A BTech. in the subject will help you thrive in this complex, ever-expanding web of the wireless sector by arming you with the requisite knowledge and skills.

Redesign the world

Let’s face it. Redesigning is a constant, endless process with the human race. Anything that anyone has ever made, we want to take it, better it, improve it and then improve it all over again. It is a never-ending quest with us. With a graduate degree, you can take this recreation and redesigning process several steps further as wireless is all about speed, instant connectivity and immediate data exchange. The course will enable you to redesign a world that is speedier, more connected, efficient as well as sustainable. It will teach you the design, analysis and manufacturing of wireless devices and integrated circuits apart from giving a know-how of electronic devices and components.

Provide solutions

The world is constantly on the lookout for solutions that are not only cost-effective but also impactful, resourceful and creative. A BTech degree will arm you with the knowledge required to deliver such solutions that save time, cost, energy as well as resources. It will not only help you create solutions but evolve them further as changing needs and demands of the society and economy necessitate constant upgrades and improvements in technology.

Expand your knowledge

A Bachelor's degree will increase the breadth of your knowledge about how technology works and how every device is connected to every other through the internet. Internet and electronics have pervaded deep into our lives, necessitating at least a basic understanding of how it all works, even for those who have little dealing with technology.

High paying jobs

Pursuing a BTech is bound to give an immense boost to your career prospects as every industry and sector of the economy uses wireless technology today. The course will arm you with the necessary skills that are in-demand in various fields such as communications, antenna design, signal processing and commutation system design. You can become a software engineer, network administrator, network security engineer, research engineer, systems engineer, telecommunications specialist etc. An individual can make his/her career in IT industry, defence, telecommunications, electronics and hardware manufacturing, embedded systems development, software development, power sector, TV and music industry, automobiles, space communications, home appliances development, electronic security systems, mobile phones testing and development, communication protocols development, and optical communications development, among others.
