Building My Future at AOT: A Journey of Technology and Business

3 mins readUpdated on Dec 10, 2024 17:47 IST

After the end of my school life, a new chapter began. I was filled with new hope and expectations to discover more of myself, gain knowledge, and learn. The fulfillment of a long-cherished dream was about to begin at the Academy of Technology (AOT).

Shaping My Future: Engineering, Programming, and Entrepreneurship

After Class 10, just like a normal teenager, I was also confused about my future. I came from an ICSE background. So, I had basic Programming knowledge. The subjects that caught my interest in Class 10 were Mathematics and Computer Science. So, I decided to go with Science. I was not a big fan of memorising subjects, and the Medical field never interested me. So, I skipped Biology. My parents were very supportive throughout the journey. At that time, I was considering pursuing Statistics Honours. After completing Class 10, I switched to the CBSE board.

In Class 9 and 10, I learned Java, and in Class 11 and 12, I focused on Python. Programming really caught my interest. Engineering was the best field for combining Mathematics and Computer Science. So, I decided to pursue a career in Engineering.

Q:   How much time is required to prepare for JEE Mains?

A:

The time required to prepare for JEE Mains depends on several factors, such as your current knowledge level, the amount of time you can dedicate to studying, and your desired level of excellence. However, here are some general guidelines:

  1. Ideally, you should start preparing for JEE Mains at least 6-8 months before the exam date. This will give you ample time to cover the entire syllabus, practice mock tests, and analyse your performance.
  2. If you have already started preparing, it's essential to make a time table and stick to it. Allocate at least 6-8 hours daily for studying, and ensure that you take regular breaks to avoid burnout.
  3. It's important to note that the amount of time required to prepare for JEE Mains can vary depending on your current knowledge level. If you have a strong foundation in the subjects, you may require less time, whereas if you need to build your fundamentals, you may need more time.
  4. Additionally, it's important to remember that studying smartly is more crucial than studying for a long time. Focus on understanding the concepts, practicing challenging problems, and analyzing your performance regularly.

In conclusion, the amount of time required to prepare for JEE Mains can vary depending on several factors. However, ideally, you should start preparing at least 6-8 months before the exam date, and make a study plan that suits your needs and schedule. Remember to study smartly, practice regularly, and analyze your performance to achieve your desired score.

Q:   What is the closing rank for NIT in JEE Main?

A:
Closing rank for NITs varies from institute to institute. In general, students must have a JEE Main rank within the top 30,000 to have a seat in any of the NITs across the country. It is not possible to provide the exact closing ranks for all NITs as it is subject to change. However, generally, the closing ranks for admission to NITs through JEE Main are in the range of a few thousand to several tens of thousands, depending on the institute and the specific branch.

Q:   How to crack JEE Mains in first attempt?

A:

Hi aspirant!

Clearing the JEE Main exam in first attempt is not a difficult task. If we see the year over year statistics, the ratio of students who clear JEE Main in first attempt is high in comparison to students who dropped a year after class 12. One thing that makes it easy to clear JEE Main with class 12 is that students are in regular touch of most JEE syllabus. To score good marks in JEE Main in the first attempt, it is advised that you study class 11 and 12 topics thoroughly, clear all the concepts and solve mock test papers. Also, NCERT books which you study in class 11 and 12 are the best books for JEE Main preparation. Students must study NCERT properly and solve all the questions in the book and do not memorize the concepts as some students do rather understand the concepts.

Hope this cleared your doubt. Best wishes!

My brother, who is an Engineer and an Entrepreneur both, played a significant role in shaping my aspirations. His work inspires me a lot. So, I wanted to explore entrepreneurship. Hence, I decided to pursue a B.Tech in Computer Science and Business System (CSBS), as I thought, it would help me explore the tech and business world.

Academy of Technology (AOT) college has a good reputation for providing quality education in Technical and Engineering fields. It has a strong alumni network. I received positive feedback from a few students at AOT, which convinced me to choose this college. The college’s magnificent green campus, unlike other Engineering colleges in Kolkata, stood out to me. It’s a peaceful environment that helps relieve stress and opens the mind to new ideas.

JOURNEY TO AOT:

I prepared for JEE and WBJEE on my own. I joined the Physics Wallah online platform and started my preparation journey. My JEE marks weren’t impressive. But, I cleared the WBJEE exam with decent marks. In the first round of counseling, I received an offer from the B.P. Poddar Institute of Technology for Information Technology (IT). However, in the second round, I was able to secure admission at the AOT for a B.Tech in Computer Science and Business Systems.

Q:   Can I prepare for JEE Mains in 4 months?

A:

To get a good rank in JEE and make to the IIT, you need to have a strategic planning that suits the present format of selection. The present format demands an all-round performance as it considers your Board Examination, JEE Mains and Advanced. Here are certain points that would help you.

  • Understand the JEE Mains syllabus and start reading the NCERT books thoroughly. The NCERT books are written by some of the best brains of India and these books are quite precise and concise. Your preparation must start with NCERT books. Read these books thoroughly and solve all the back exercises. Also try the example problems for further practice of objective questions. Remember that reading and understanding the NCERT books are not the same thing.
  • Solve previous year JEE Main question papers to understand your preparation level. It will also help in understanding the difficulty level of the exam and chapterwise weightage of various topics.
  • Solve JEE Main mock tests regularly to enhance time management and problem solving skills

Q:   Is one month sufficient for JEE Main preparation?

A:
One month is not sufficient for JEE Main preparation if a student has not started preparing or have not studied earlier for the exam. As the syllabus of JEE Main is vast, studying all the topics and remembering them take a lot of effort. However, class 12 student can get a decent score in JEE Main if time after the bard exam is devoted exclusively for the JEE preparation. Since most topics of JEE Main and class 12 are similar, students need to revise all the topics and solve previous year JEE Main question papers. Start solving JEE Main mock test papers at last 3-4 days before the exam to make yourself comfortable with the exam.

Q:   How many months are required to prepare for JEE Mains exam?

A:
The time period required to complete the JEE Main preparation depends mainly on the students. Every student has their own pace of study. Ideally, 6-month time is good enough to complete the JEE Main preparation. Students who have started preparing from class 11 or 12 can easily prepare for JEE Main. In 6 months considering the topics of JEE syllabus have already been studied in classes 11 and 12. JEE Main preparation is most effective with classes 11 and 12 as almost 90-95 percent of topics are similar in both exams. This way students can easily complete the entire JEE Main. Syllabus as well as the syllabus of classes 11 and 12. After the board exams, students get 2-3 months' time where they can focus entirely on JEE Main. Students who have started late for the JEE Main exam can make a 6-month plan where in the first three months they have to focus on revising the syllabus studied in classes 11 and 12. In the next two months focus on solving questions of JEE Main and analyzing the mistakes being made, if any. The last month should be focused on solving mock tests and JEE Main previous year question papers.

Q:   How to score good marks in JEE Mains?

A:
To score good marks in JEE Mains, study NCERT books thoroughly. NCERT books are the best to understand the basic concepts. In JEE Main exam, questions are asked that test students' conceptual and analytical understanding. So, students should build their conceptual knowledge and solve numerical problems on every topic. Another essential piece of advice is to solve the previous year's paper to gain insight into the exam's difficulty level and how questions are asked.

Q:   How to prepare for JEE Main from Class 11th and 12th?

A:
Starting the JEE Main preparation from class 11 or 12 is the best time. As JEE Main syllabus consists of topics from class 11 and 12, students can easily cover all the topics along with school. Students can begin by checking the topics that is covered in both school and JEE Main and give special attention to them. For all three subjects, study NCERT and also take help from reference books. Understand the concepts thoroughly and solve numerical problems. To crack JEE Main along with class 12, students should devote at least 2-3 hours for JEE beside class 12 studies. Regularly solve JEE Main mock test and solve previous year question papers to evaluate the performance.

From Introvert to Confident Communicator: My AOT Story

On the first day, I was nervous. I was a bit scared to meet new people. I am an introvert, and I am not very good at socializing. But, to my surprise, the first day went well. I met a lot of new faces who later became my friends. I am grateful that my classmates were kind and approachable. I didn’t feel uneasy at all, and it went quite smoothly.

Meeting new people and adapting to a new environment has helped me grow. Looking back, I think, I made the right decision in choosing AOT. I have grown a lot since joining AOT, and I am looking forward to growing further. I made a noticeable improvement in my communication skills. I have become more confident. I am also better at adapting to new environments. Of course, there’s still a lot of progress to be made.

A GLIMPSE OF AOT:

AOT has numerous clubs, offering a wide variety of extracurricular activities, student chapters, and tech fests. The college’s biggest fest is the ARCADIA, a two-day event. On the first day of the event, students perform. And on the second day, celebrities such as Sonu Nigam, Armaan Malik, and Salim-Sulaiman come to perform. This year, Salim-Sulaiman performed live, and it was an unforgettable experience. During these two days, everyone, including the students, faculty, and staff, enjoys themselves. It’s a memorable time for every AOTian.

FUTURE PLANS:

I am looking forward to gaining new experiences, learning more, and creating memories to cherish. I want to explore entrepreneurship and new technologies while continuing to discover more about myself. By the end of my four-year journey, I hope that I will secure a good placement and open the door to a bright future. I am optimistic about what lies ahead and excited to take on the challenges and opportunities that come my way.
