Coronavirus: IIT Delhi abandons classes, exams till March 31

With immediate effect, public gatherings on the campus have also been cancelled. The institute has urged students to desist from holding any event on the campus during the period that involves get-together of people.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has cancelled all classes and exams till March 31. The decision has been taken considering the coronavirus epidemic in several parts of the country. IIT Director Professor V. Ramgopal Rao had tweeted regarding the decision. He further urged people to inform concerned with the decision. With immediate effect, public gatherings on the campus have also been cancelled. The institute has urged students to desist from holding any event on the campus during the period that involves get-together of people.

International students studying at IIT Delhi and presently accommodating in the hostels will be permitted to stay in the hostel during this period. Basic mess amenities will be offered to students on the campus during this period. Taking this into consideration, IIT Delhi is among the various educational institutes in the national capital to have closed down its campus to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

Delhi University suspended classes till March 31

Delhi University has also postponed its classes till March 31. However, the university has also asked teachers to remain available as per their time-table by means of e-resources. The step is aimed to bring down footfall on the university campus to evade the spreading of the deadly virus. According to a press release, the DU administration asserted that to uphold continuity in the teaching-learning process, in all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the study material would be made available on a weekly basis on the website by the corresponding teachers of all departments/ colleges/centres.
