IIT Guwahati, AOTS Japan, Suzuki Motor Corporation, and Maruti Suzuki sign MoU
The collaboration facilitates the promotion of education and training covering engineering courses and internship programmes in both India and Japan.
Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG), The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships, Japan (AOTS), Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan (SMC) and Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) have come together and signed a memorandum of understanding today i.e. March 4, 2020, to promote technical education and training. The four parties exchanged the MoU at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) in the presence of H. E. Mr. Satoshi Suzuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India. Mr Ashok Kumar Chawla, Advisor-Japan, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India graced the exchange ceremony of the MoU.
It’s the first-of-its-kind institutional collaboration. The collaboration facilitates the promotion of education and training covering engineering courses and internship programmes in both India and Japan. It will also promote research for next-generation technologies for the benefit of both countries. The initiatives listed below are authorised by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan, as Japanese Endowed Course:
Suzuki Endowed Course
Primarily related to automobiles, the Suzuki Endowed Course is an engineering course. The course will be conducted by SMC and MSIL by providing training to students through lectures. As part of the curriculum, AOTS will conduct the Japanese language course. This course will be provided to students of IITG. In order to conduct this, the faculty will be arranged by the AOTS, SMC, and MSIL.
Suzuki Internship Program
The internship opportunity will be provided to the eligible students. Students will be placed as interns at SMC’s facility in Japan as well as at MSIL in India. The programme will give students both local and global exposure.
Talking about the signed memorandum of understanding, H. E. Mr. Satoshi Suzuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India expressed his happiness over the collaboration with three Japanese partners, Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki Motor Corporation and AOTS. He further added that the collaboration will help create future engineers to lead India’s manufacturing sector and to build new bridges of friendship between India and Japan.
The institutional collaboration will help us prepare students wider technical roles, said Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited. He added that the internship exposure at both the national and international level will help prepare students for both the platforms. It will also take technical education to another level.
