Mystory@Himani Kaul: Science was not my cup of tea
My journey is the same as children of most families in India. The story of desire of getting excellent marks in Class 12 and joining one of the top IITs. But, there was a slight difference. Joining IIT was my parents’ dream not mine. I worked very hard for 2 years to get excellent score in class 12 and somehow the board exams passed successfully but the main problem arose at the time of JEE Mains. This exam scared me since class 10 only. But when you score 94% in class 10 boards, you can’t choose any stream other than science. This was obviously decided by my parents. But this not what I wanted from life. JEE was a disaster, so there was no chance of joining IIT. I was hopeful of getting admission in a good engineering college as the class 12 result was awaited. But even that hope was dashed when the result was declared. I had scored 85% in class 12.
Science was never my cup of tea, but I always had interest in computer, but even to pursue Computer Engineering, you need excellent marks. My ship was on the verge of drowning, after many sleepless nights, tears and prayers, one door opened for me. I finally got admission in Computer Engineering at Government Engineering College, Rajkot. So, here I am, studying in my desired branch.
Let’s see where this path leads me to now.
