JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern: NTA has changed the pattern of the JEE Mains 2025 exam for all three papers - Paper 1 (BE/BTech), Paper 2A (BArch) and Paper 2B (BPlan). As per the new pattern, section B of the JEE Main exam 2025 for Paper 1 will not have optional questions. There will be only 5 questions per subject and students must answer all 5 questions. Similarly, in Papers 2A and 2B, there will be no optional questions in the Mathematics section. Candidates can check the new JEE Main 2025 exam pattern released by NTA here. 

JEE Main 2025 will consist of three papers: Paper 1 for BTech/BE, Paper 2A for BArch, and 2B for BPlan. JEE Main exam for BE/BTech courses will consist of 75 MCQs carrying 300 marks. The JEE Main exam 2025 will be conducted online in 13 languages - Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu in addition to Hindi, English, and Gujarati. 

JEE Main Paper 2 is further divided into two papers, Paper 2A and 2B, and is held separately for BArch and BPlan respectively. JEE Main Paper 2A for BArch will consist of 77 questions carrying 400 marks and BPlan will consist of 100 MCQs totaling 400 marks. JEE Main Paper 2 will be conducted online except for the drawing section of paper 2A, which is conducted offline.

Q:   Is there any change in JEE Main 2025 exam pattern?

A:

Yes, NTA has announced two major changes in JEE Main exam pattern 2025. As per the new pattern, the total number of questions in JEE Main 2025 Paper 1 (BE/BTech) will be 75, 25 each from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Also, there will be no optional question in section B in any subject. Students will need to answer all 5 questions in section B from all three subjects. The marking scheme and total marks remains the same.

Q:   Is there negative marking in JEE Main?

A:

The answer to this question is a Yes. As per the exam pattern of JEE Main 2024, 4 marks would be awarded for every question answered correctly, while negative marking will be done for every incorrect answer. This implies that 1 mark is deducted every time a candidate answers the question wrongly.  Zero or no marks will be given to un-attempted questions.

Q:   How many questions are asked in JEE Main exam?

A:

The JEE Main exam will have a total of 75 questions from all three subjects. The exam will have 25 questions each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 25 questions, 20 will be multiple choice questions and 5 will be questions with numerical value answers. Students need to answer all 5 numerical value type questions. Also all 20 multiple choices questions are compulsory and no choice is provided in them. Students need to complete all the 75 questions in 3 hours.

A:

The JEE Main question paper will have questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as per the prescribed syllabus. Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any 05 (five) questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. For each question in Section B.A. Candidate has to enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. For Section B, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

Q:   Is there any change in marking scheme and total number of questions in JEE Main 2025?

A:

Yes, the total number of questins in JEE Main 2025 have been reduced in all three papers - Paper 1 for BE/BTech, Paper 2A for BArch and Paper 2B for BPlan. The Paper 1 exam will now have 75 questions, 25 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In Paper 2A and 2B, the total number of questions have been decreased only in Mathematics section. There will be 25 questions in Mathematics section of Paper 2A and 2B.

NTA has not made any changes in the marking scheme of JEE Mains 2025 exam. Also, the total marks and duration of the exam remains the same.

National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main exam in online mode as a computer based test. JEE Main exam is conducted for three different courses; B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Plan. The exam for B.Tech and B. Plan is completely online while the exam for B.Arch is partially online and drawing part is conducted offline. The exam is held across various test cities in India and abroad.

Q:   Do I need to attempt all the questions in JEE Main exam?

A:

Yes, it is compulsory to attempt all the question in exam. Students need to attempt a total of 75 questions in the exam. Students are advised to attempt only those questions for which they can arrive at the answer/solutions. Questions for which the answer is not sure should be left as incorrect answer would lead to negative marking. Students must note that there are no minimum marks in JEE Main that students need to score. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.

A:

Numerical value questions in JEE Main are the questions for which the answer will be a numerical value. In every subject, there will be 5 numerical value type questions and students need to attempt all 5 questions. In total, students will need to answer only 75 questions. For numerical value type questions, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

The total duration of JEE Main exam is 3 hours and the exam is conducted continuous without any break. Candidates are allowed to enter the exam hall as per the scheduled time and can leave only after the completion of paper. The exam will have a total of 90 questions from 3 subjects, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Students have to answer 75 questions out of 90 in 3 hours without any break. Also, there is no separate time for subjects and students can appear any subject based on his/her choice.

Question paper during the exam will be visible in English Hindi Urdu and the language selected by the candidate while filling the JEE Main application form. Candidates can switch the language of question paper between the default languages which is English Hindi Urdu and selected language in the application. In total, JEE Main is conducted in 13 languages and candidates have the option to select any language out of the available options. Candidates cannot switch the language of question paper between all 13 languages during the exam.

Yes, candidates can appear for the JEE Mains exam without 75% marks in their qualifying exam. The 75% criteria is only applicable at the time of admission into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs and for appearing in JEE Advanced.

To get computer related branch the last year cutoff rank was almost 1.3lakh. The cutoff vary differently every year so this is a rough idea. The cutoff depends upon the number of students appering, difficulty of question paper. You can't get most accurate numbers.
