KTET 2024: The Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan will soon release the hall ticket for the KTET 2024 exam for the November session. The Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) exam is conducted by Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala twice a year to determine the eligibility of aspirants possessing adequate skills to teach in Lower Primary and Upper Primary schools in Kerala. The Kerala teaching Eligibility Test (KTET) application fees varies according to the category of the candidate. The category wise application fee for the KTET exam are given below:

  • General/Unreserved: INR 500
  • SC/ST/PwD/Ex-Serviceman: INR 250

Note: The candidates can pay the application fees through different payment modes like  UPI/Internet Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card, etc.

The Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan (KPB) released the Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) application on November 11, 2024. The candidates can apply online for the KTET exam on the official website-ktet.kerala.gov.in. The last date to apply online for the KTET Nov 2024 exam is November 25, 2024. Candidates should submit their applications timely by visiting the official website of the exam.

KTET Eligibility Criteria 2024

In order to be eligible for KTET Category 1, Category 2, Category 3 and Category 4, aspirants need to possess the minimum educational qualifications.

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 1 (Lower Primary Classes)

Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of the below-mentioned educational qualifications:

  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary or (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and two years Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.

OR

  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002.

OR

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd).

OR

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Note: A relaxation of 5 per cent in qualifying marks is admissible for candidates belonging to SC/ST and Differently abled categories. Also, relaxation of 3 per cent in qualifying marks is given to OBC & OEC candidates.

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 2 (Upper Primary Classes)

Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of the below-mentioned educational qualifications:

  • BA/BSc/BCom and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.

OR

  • BA/BSc/BCom with at least 45 per cent marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (BEd), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd)

OR

  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4-year BA/B.Sc.Ed or BA Ed or B.Sc.Ed.

Note: Relaxation up to 5 per cent in the qualifying marks shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST and Differently abled categories. Also, 3 per cent relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks is admissible for OBC & OEC candidates.

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 3 (High School Classes)

Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of the below-mentioned educational qualifications:

  • BA/BSc/BCom with at least 45 per cent marks and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned (from any one of the Universities in Kerala or have acquired these qualifications from any other Universities recognised as equivalent thereto)
  • For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have an MScEd Degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50 per cent marks from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology subjects, those with an MScEd Degree in Life Science with not less than 50 per cent marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are eligible to apply.
  • BA or equivalent with at least 45 per cent marks and who passed in LTTC are eligible to apply.

Additional eligibility criteria for KTET 2024  Category II aspirants are as follows:

  • Candidates, who have acquired a Diploma/Degree in teaching in any subject and are approved by Universities/NCTE/Board of Examinations/Govt. of Kerala, are eligible to apply for K-TET III. They will have to produce the equivalency certificate as recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala/the Government of Kerala.
  • Candidates who have acquired their qualifications through recognised correspondence courses/ Open universities should obtain and furnish certificates of recognition and equivalency from any one of the Universities in Kerala.
  • For considering the minimum qualifications, the marks for main and subsidiary papers only will be considered.

Note: Candidates belonging to SC/ST and differently-abled categories shall be granted a relaxation of 5 per cent marks in the minimum qualifying marks. A relaxation of 3 per cent in the qualifying marks is admissible to OBC & OEC candidates to appear for the K-TET- III.

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 4 (Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education teachers)

Candidates who possess the required qualifications for the post of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of KERALA EDUCATION ACT AND RULES are eligible to apply for KTET 4.

KTET Exam Process

KTET exam process includes the following steps:

Step 1: Fill KTET application form

Candidates need to submit their KTET application form online on the official website of Pareeksha Bhavan. Along with the application, form aspirants need to submit the receipt of online payment or Chalan and a copy of the certificates at Pareeksha Bhavan. Candidates can select the district of their test centre while filling out the application form for the KTET exam.

Aspirants can pay the KTET examination fee by Credit Card/Debit Card, Net Banking or by submitting Challan in cash in Account Number- 67371493960 Kerala 16 TET such that it is drawn in favour of the Director, SCERT, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram at any branch of State Bank of Travancore.

Step 2: Download the KTET admit card

Candidates need to download their KTET admit card from the official website of Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan. No separate admit card will be sent to aspirants by post. KTET admit card contains the candidate’s name and test centre details.

Step 3: Appear for the KTET exam

KTET Category 1, 2, 3 and 4 papers are of two-and-a-half hour duration each. Candidates need to reach their KTET test centre at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. Aspirants need to attempt the KTET exam offline on the OMR sheet.

Step 4: Check the KTET result

The KTET result is declared on the official website of Pareeksha Bhavan along with the final answer key. Candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the exam are declared qualified and awarded with the KTET certificate.
