SBI PO selection process 2024: The State Bank of India (SBI) conducts SBI PO 2024 exam to select candidates for the posts of Probationary Officers (PO)/Management Trainees (MTs). This is one of the most sought after banking exams in the country wherein lakhs of candidates partipates in the recruitment process. The recruitment process will begin with the release of SBI PO 2024 notification. 

SBI PO apply online link will be activated after the notification is released. SBI PO 2024 exam dates will be announced along with the notification. Any graduate candidate can apply for SBI PO 2024 exam. The age limit prescribed for SBI PO exam is 21 and 30 years. Step-wise Selection Process of SBI PO

The step-wise selection process of SBI PO is given below:

Applying for SBI PO 

Interested candidates who meet the eligibility parameters are required to apply online for the exam. The fee which can be paid online is INR 750 for General/ EWS/ OBC. SC/ST/PWD candidates are exempted from fee payment. The application process comprises the following steps:

  • Visit the official website of SBI
  • Click the registration link available on the home page
  • Register by filling the basic details for SBI exam
  • Registration number and password will be generated
  • Upload the scanned images of documents
  • Fill the detailed application form
  • Preview the application form before final submission
  • Pay the application fees
  • Take printout of fee receipt

Release of SBI PO Admit Card

SBI PO admit card is released separately for prelims, mains, and Group Exercise and Interview. Candidates can access the admit card from the official website by logging with registration number or roll number and date of birth or password. SBI PO admit card is an important document without which candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

Appearing in SBI PO Exam

SBI PO Preliminary exam consists of 100 objective-type questions. Questions will be asked from the English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. The total marks for the exam are 100. The duration of the exam as per SBI PO Exam Pattern is one hour. The mains exam comprises both objective and subjective questions. The total marks for the exam are 250. The test paper carries a total of 157 questions. The duration of the exam is 3.5 hours. Interview only or Group Exercises and Interview carries 50 marks. The standard of SBI PO Syllabus is of graduation level.

Declaration of SBI PO Result

SBI PO result is declared online separately for prelims, mains, and final selection. SBI PO result is released in PDF format in the form of a merit list. The hard copy of the result is not sent to candidates by post. On the basis of the marks of the prelims exam, candidates 10 times the number of vacancies are called for the mains exam. Based on the performance in the mains exam, candidates three times the number of vacancies are called for Group Exercise and Interview. SBI PO cut off is released category-wise along with the result. 

SBI PO Final Selection

The final selection of candidates is done based on the Phase II mains exam and Phase III Interview only or Group Exercises and Interview. The marks obtained in the preliminary exam are not added for preparing the final merit list for selection. Marks secured by the candidates in the Main Examination (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 marks and Interview only or Group Exercises & Interview scores of the candidate (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25 marks. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating the converted marks out of 100. Selection is done from the top-ranked candidates in each category.

What is SBI SO psychometric test?

SBI has introduced psychometric test in the selection process of SBI PO exam. The psychometric test is conducted for personality profiling for those candidates who will be shortlisted for Phase 3. The performance of candidates in the psychometric test will be placed before the interview panel to have a through perspective on the candidates. The importance of psychometric test is given below:

  • It measures the real and hidden abilities of candidates
  • It tests the candidate's psychological behaviour and suitability as a banker

Q:   Who can apply for SBI PO?

An Indian citizen who has graduated from any recognised university can apply for the SBI PO exam. However, he or she will have to fulfill other requirements as well, which are as follows: 1. If the person is in their final year of graduation, then he or she will be required to provide a passing Certificate during the interview process. 2. The applicant must be at least 21 years old to apply. He or she should not be more than 30 years old for the general category. 3. There is an age relaxation for some categories, such as OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) gets a three-year age relaxation, while the SC and ST get a five-year age relaxation to apply. 4. The general-category applicant is limited to four applications. For OBC candidates, the limit is seven, whereas there is no limit for SC and ST candidates.

SBI PO exam pattern is such that it is divided into prelims, Mains, psychometric test, group exercises and interview. In 2022, SBI has revised the exam pattern. The psychometric test was introduced in the Phase 3 exam pattern. There is no weightage for this test and the performance of candidates in this stage will be shared with the interview panel. SBI PO prelims exam comprises three sections-Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language. The total marks allotted to the prelims exam are 100. What After the Final Selection?

On joining, the selected candidates will be designated as Probationary Officers and will be on probation for two years. Their performance will be evaluated during the probation period before confirmation. Candidates who excel in their performance will be promoted to the next grade, Middle Management Grade Scale-II (MMGS-II). The basic pay is INR 27,620 (with 4 advance increments). The starting basic SBI PO Salary is INR 41,960 (with 4 advance increments). SBI PO pay scale is INR 36,000-1490/7-46430-1740/2-49910-1990/7-63840. The officials are also eligible for DA, HRA, CCA, medical, and other allowances.

Q:   In how many shifts SBI PO exam is conducted?

A:

The prelims exam of SBI PO is conducted in four shifts while the Mains exam is conducted in two shifts. SBI PO prelims shift timings are 9 AM to 10 AM, 11.30 am to 12.30 pm, 2 pm to 3 pm and 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm. SBI PO Mains exam timings are 2 pm to 3 pm and 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Q:   Is the SBI PO exam difficult?

A:
The SBI PO exam is difficult but doable. There are some factors which make SBI PO a bit challenging for aspirants. These are as follows: 1. There is a limit to the number of attempts. The aspirants feel pressured to clear the exam with their allotted attempt limits. 2. Standard and tricky questions from sections such as reasoning and DI are common in SBI PO papers. 3. The number of aspirants appearing for SBI PO is not only huge but also diverse. An art stream candidate may have to compete with the already selected clerk of the bank. 4. The time limit is very strict for both the prelim and mains. You have only one hour for the prelims, with 100 questions, and three hours for the 155-question mains. 5. You have to clear sectional cutoffs separately, so you have to be good in all sections equally. 6. The one-fourth negative marking scheme is a challenge, and the aspirant feels the pressure of losing. 25 marks 7. The surprise questions in the main stage further increase the pressure on aspirants. 8. Finally, the group discussion and interview rounds are also very challenging and require quick thinking. The bar/ Line/ Pie/ Tabular chart may ask the questions. What is SBI PO Salary?

The starting basic SBI PO salary is INR 41,960 (with four advance increments). The pay scale of SBI PO is INR 36,000-1490/7-46430-1740/2-49910-1990/7-63840. The post offered to selected candidates is of Junior Management Grade Scale 1. Candidates are also eligible for DA, HRA/Lease Rental, CCA, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time. Candidates working as SBI PO earns a higher take-home salary than any other bank. SBI PO in hand salary ranges between INR 52,000 to 55,000 per month with the basic pay of INR 41,960. The Gross compensation received lies between INR 8.20 Lakhs (minimum) to INR 13.08 lakhs (maximum) per annum. The minimum marks to crack SBI PO exam isn't disclosed yet by the governing committee. It depends on the level of competition and the number of vacancies they have. There are no sectional cut off marks in SBI PO exam. Candidates need to secure the overall cut off marks as per their categories in the exam.
