WBPSC WBCS 2024: Exam Dates, Admit Card, Online Form, Syllabus & Result Out (2023 Session)

Four groups of services are combined to form the WBCS. The details of Group A, B, C, and D services will be mentioned in the WBCS notification 2024. WBCS exam is conducted each year to recruit Group-A officers for the West Bengal Provincial Civil Service. The officers recruited through the WBCS exam are:

WBCS Full Form

The full form of WBCS is the West Bengal Civil Service. It is the topmost state service recruited by the West Bengal Public Service Commission. WBCS is different from the WBPSC which is the name of the Commission.

The Commission is yet to release the exam dates for the WBCS 2024 exam. The candidates must see and mark the WBCS Exam Date 2024 to plan their preparation strategy accordingly.

The West Bengal Public Service Commission is expected to release the WBCS 2024 notification soon on its official website - psc.wb.gov.in. The Commission will provide one month to fill out the WBCS online application. 

The West Bengal Public Service Commission released the WBCS notification 2023 on February 26, 2023. The Commission did not release the vacancies for the exam. WBCS notification is the official document which kick-starts the examination process though the applications were activated later. The West Bengal Public Service Commission is expected to release the WBCS 2024 applications soon on its official website - psc.wb.gov.in. The Commission will release the WBCS 2024 apply online link with the notification. 

The last date to apply for the WBCS 2023 exam was March 21, 2023. The Commission released the WBCS apply online link for the WBCS exam 2023 on February 28, 2023. The Commission provided 22 days to fill out the WBCS application form. The Commission released the application dates in a short notice released online on February 22, 2023. The candidates are required to fill out the application and pay the application fee within the stipulated time as given in the official notification. 

The West Bengal Public Service Commission released the WBCS 2024 prelims result (2023 Session) on July 12, 2024. The Commission selected 4,960 candidates fo the main exam. The Commission releases the WBCS result after each stage of the examination.

The West Bengal Public Service Commission will release the WBCS 2024 exam answer key within a week from the exam date. The Commission release the WBCS answer key pdf online only. The WBCS answer key is the best source of the official answers to the questions asked in the WBCS prelims question paper.

The Commission released the WBCS answer key 2023 on December 22, 2023. The Commission invited objections against the incorrect questions/answers till January 5, 2024. The Commission will prepare the WBCS result 2023 after considering such objections.

The WBPSC will release the WBCS 2024 admit card around ten days before the exam. The Commission mentions the WBCS exam centres in the admit card and the candidates are suggested to carry two identical stamp-sized photographs as uploaded with the application. The candidates will be required to download their admit card in the manner given below:

The West Bengal Public Service Commission will release the WBCS syllabus 2024 in the official notification. WBCS exam is a premier and state-wide competitive exam and hence the competition in the WBCS exam is very high. The WBCS syllabus can guide the WBCS preparation in a better way. There is only one paper in the WBCS prelims exam and the candidates need to qualify in the exam. The marks scored in the prelims exam are not considered for the final merit list. Education Qualification Required for WBCS Exam 2024

A degree from a recognised university and the ability to read and write Bengali but it is not required for the candidates to have Nepali as a mother tongue.

WBCS Age Limit 2024

The candidates should note that the lower age limit is 21 years and the upper age limit is 36 years for the WBCS exam. It implies that the candidates born not earlier than January 2, 1988, and not later than January 1, 2003, will be eligible to apply.

Those candidates whose date of birth lies between January 1, 2003, and January 1, 2004 [i.e. whose age is between 20 and 21 years] may apply for Group B posts only. The Commission will accept the date of birth as mentioned in the Madhyamik Certificate only. Madhyamik Certificate means High School Certificate. Age Relaxation in WBCS 2024

There is no age relaxation for the candidate serving in the Government. The above age limit applies to all the candidates except the following:

In the case of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), the upper age limit is relaxable up to 45 years. S.C./S.T./B.C. candidates of other states shall be treated as General category candidates.

Physical Standard Required for WBCS 2024

For West Bengal Police Service (Group ‘B’ Service)

The minimum height requirement is 1.65 metres for male candidates and 1.50 metres for female candidates subject to relaxation in the case of candidates belonging to races such as Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese Tribals etc. Candidates intending to be considered for this group must indicate their height in the appropriate column of the application form.

WBPSC WBCS is a two-stage exam process. As mentioned in the official notification, the Prelims and Main exams are parts of the written stage. The other stage is the interview stage.

Stage 1: The WBCS preliminary is an objective type test consisting of one paper only. The paper will carry 200 marks. The candidates who pass the preliminary exam will be eligible to appear in WBCS main exam. The Preliminary Examination serves as a Screening Test only for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination.

Stage 2: WBCS Main exam consists of six compulsory papers and one optional subject having two papers (only for the candidates appearing for Group A or Group B services).

The six compulsory papers will be objective-type papers and the two optional subject papers will be conventional types. There shall be negative marking in the objective type papers of Prelims as well as Mains exam.

Important Note: The deduction of 10% of full marks will be done if the candidate tries to disclose his/her identity by writing the name or roll number on the answer script of any paper.

Stage 3: The personal interview will follow the written exam. The marks of the personal interview are given below:

The final result will be announced after all the stages of the WBCS exam are over. After the final result, the candidates must appear for the document and certificate verification.
