IGNOU offers a number of courses. Candidates interested in pursuing higher education or aspires to take admission in Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) programmes in distance mode, can prefer IGNOU. In order to pursue MPhil or PhD from IGNOU, candidates need to first appear appear and qualify an entrance exam and they can enroll in the course.

Q:   What is the last date to apply for IGNOU admission 2024?

A:

The last date for fresh admission and re-registration for IGNOU July 2024 session is extended till Sep 10, 2024. Candidates can apply online on the official website of the university. Candidates shall ensure that they submit their application on or before the prescribed deadline. Besides, the date sheet for June 2024 TEE online is available for students registered under E-Vidya Bharti. 

Q:   When can I take admission in IGNOU for MSc?

A:

For the January cycle, the applications are accepted between the November-December month of the previous year. For the July cycle, a candidate is required to apply in the month of May-August. Currently, IGNOU MSc fresh admission and re-registration is open. The last date to apply for the July session is Jul 31. Aspirants should apply on or before the prescribed deadline.

Q:   How can I get admission for B.Ed at IGNOU?

A:

Application form for B.Ed can be obtained online from the official website of IGNOU. At least, 50% marks either in the Bachelor's degree and/or in the Master's degree in sciences/social sciences/commerce/humanity. Candidates, who are trained in-service teachers in elementary education, will be eligible to apply for the entrance exam and further for admission or who have completed a NCTE recognised teacher education programme through face-to-face mode. IGNOU MPhil Eligibility Criteria

Before filling the application form, candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria. If a candidate is found ineligible at any point of time during the admission procedure, the applicant will not be allowed to advance further in the process.

MPhil

  • The candidate must possess a master’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognised university by the UGC.
  • The minimum marks required to be eligible for admission to MPhil is 55 per cent.
  • There is a relaxation of 5 per cent marks for reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC).

PhD

  • Candidates must have a master’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognised university by UGC.
  • There is a relaxation of 5 per cent marks for reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC).
  • Candidates holding MPhil Degree (along with coursework and dissertation) or candidates who have cleared NET or any other equivalent examination will be exempted from appearing for the entrance exam.

IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) offers a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. ) programme for aspiring teachers. Here is some information on how to apply and the status of registration: Eligibility Criteria: Candidates who have completed their graduation or post-graduation with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for the B.Ed. programme. Q:   What should I do after taking online admission in IGNOU?

A:

Here are few things that students will recieve after taking admission in IGNOU:

  • Once a students get admission into IGNOU, he or she will recieve the enrollment number and ID for future login to the samarth portal of the university.
  • Based on the choice made by the candidate while filling the application form, he or she will then recieve the study material. Soft copy is available on the official website of the university. 
  • Registered students also recieve a mail from the regional or study centre for counselling. It is an induction ceremony where the course is introduced to the students.
  • A schedule of classes is also shared through mail. For any query regarding classes, students must contact their study centre.

Q:   What is the admission process for MBA at IGNOU?

A:

IGNOU admission to MBA was subject to a valid score in IGNOU OPENMAT exam till 2021. However, for the admission 2021 onwards, IGNOU cancelled the OPENMAT exam and eligible candidates were able to directly apply for the MBA courses via the online registration link before the extended deadline. However, as per the data collated from various sources, IGNOU seems to have scrapped the OPENMAT exam. IGNOU MBA admission 2024 is subject to merit scores obtained by the students in the last qualifying degree. 

Step 1: The candidate will first have to visit the official website of the university in order to avail the application form.

Step 2: On visiting the website, candidates will have to click on the ‘admission link’.

Step 3: On clicking the ‘admission link’, the candidate will have to enter their respective email IDs and password.  After registering, the candidate can then log in.

Step 4: On logging in, the candidate will have to click on the ‘apply now’ link. On doing so, the candidate can then fill in the application form.

Step 5: Candidates are advised to cross-check every detail that is being entered in the form. Once the applicant has filled the form, the candidate is required to upload a jpeg file of their respective passport size photographs and signature.

Step 6: Once all the details are filled in, the candidate then can proceed to pay the application fee, which is Rs 1000. The payment can be made online or offline.

Online: The candidate can pay the application fee online via credit card/ debit card/ net banking.

Offline: Demand draft which can be sent to the university address.

Step 7: Once the formalities have been completed, the candidate is advised to take a print out of the application form for future reference.

IGNOU Entrance Exam

Selection for admission in the varsity is done on the basis of the written entrance exam, which will be followed by an interview. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their respective performances in the written test and will be called for the interview round. Candidates who have cleared NET (conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR) or any other equivalent examination will be exempted from appearing the IGNOU entrance exam. Candidates need to keep in mind the following process for the entrance exam.

  • IGNOU will release a list of candidate’s names who have been shortlisted for the entrance exam. Applicants can see the list which will be available on the official website of IGNOU.
  • Candidates who have been shortlisted for the entrance exam, IGNOU will release the admit card, a week prior to the IGNOU entrance exam.
  • It is mandatory for the candidate to carry their respective admit card along with an identity proof before sitting for the IGNOU entrance exam.

Interview Round

Candidates who clear the written exam, will be called for the interview/presentation round. The results of the written entrance exam will be declared on the official website of IGNOU. Candidates can check the result through the following steps:

Step 1: Visit the official website of IGNOU.

Step 2: The candidate will have to click on ‘Results’ which will be present under the banner at the top of the page.

Step 3: On clicking the ‘result’ link, the candidate will be directed to a new page. From there on, the candidate will have to search for the MPhil/PhD entrance exam result link.

Step 4: On finding the link, the candidate will have to enter the ‘application number and password’. On entering the details, the results will be available on the screen.

Names of candidates mentioned in the list will have to appear for the second round, which is the interview/presentation process. Candidates will have to carry their documents as well such as:

  • ID proof and photocopies
  • Class 10 mark sheet and photocopy
  • Class 12 mark sheet and photocopy
  • Graduation certificates

Candidates who clear the second round (Interview/Presentation), will receive offer letters for admission at IGNOU.
