B.Sc. (Hons.) in Anthropology - Batch of 2023

It is a good college with NAAC A grade.
Placements: Around 10% of students get placed in our course. The average salary package offered is 1.2 LPA and the minimum salary is Rs.80,000 per annum. Anthropological Survey of India offered placements in our college as archeologists and sociologists.
Infrastructure: Around 3 classrooms are attached with a sophisticated office room. Laboratory is well developed and has every equipment. Wi-Fi facility is provided in our college. Library contains several books related to our subject. Hostel food quality is good. Canteen, medical, and sports facilities are well organised in our college. Students are happy with the infrastructure of our department.
Faculty: Our department consists of 5 teachers. They are good and help students to study. Our course students are preparing for competitive exams such are UPSC and state PSC. There are 6 semester exams to complete this course.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of faculty, placements and political violence and infrastructure.
Placements: Hence the college offers general courses it does neither promise any sort of campus placements nor does it happen often. Certain IT companies sometimes come to the campus to offer clerical jobs or jobs of grades beneath the former. Most of the students of my senior batches are either striving for jobs in government sectors or pursuing Masters. Since the college plays almost zero role in offering research or internship or company placements it is impossible to know how the students perform individually after passing out the college. There is almost certainly no existence of any placement cell.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college overall is average. The campus has a Wi-Fi zone but the quality of the internet is pretty poor. Newly constructed classrooms are comparatively more sanitary than old ones which are almost never cleaned with care. My department laboratory is pretty good considering Anthropology attracts relatively low score of students in the college. Hostel rooms are also pretty average. The quality of the food is bad and kitchens are unhygenic and can almost certainly guarantee diarrhoea. The college playground is unavailable for college students and the college leases the ground to professional sports clubs. The college gymnasium is left in unuse and students are not allowed to use it at all.
Faculty: The teachers are mostly extremely vain and arrogant and refuses to help students in most cases. Hence most teachers are guests and part time their knowledge of the subject is of considerable suspection. Teachers come and lecture in the old fashioned way and occurence of audio visual classes is non existent. The student to faculty ratio is extraordinarily high mainly due to illicit admission methods the college permits. My course of Anthropology does not offer any commercial job at all but rather the only path is to be within academia.
Other: Events are pretty common in college, the campus crowd is usually overflowing, the campus surroundings is healthy environmentally. However, political thugs roam the college in disguise of students and take every decision of the college sometimes. The college union often threatens and thrashes both students and the teachers and violence is commonplace. Extracurricular activities are sometimes encouraged but the college lack infrastructure to take that to any level at all.

Review of Acharya Prafulla Chandra College (APCC).
Placements: There are no placements or internships provided by the college for my course. Studies are good, and the quality of teaching and faculty experience is nice. If you want to apply outside the college, there is a good chance of a nice job and salary. Also, the prospects of placements are high for this course in various fields.
Infrastructure: The library and classrooms are nice and clean. Access to the library is done by students with their cards only. Labs are clean and very helpful as well. But the quality of the hostel is not so good. The hostel is a mess, and I would not ask to stay. Also, the food in the hostel is not good.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified, and also highly knowledgeable. They are very helpful and hospitable towards the students. Two semesters take place in a year. Exams are conducted by the teachers as per the syllabus provided by the university. Overall, the teaching circle is very good.

Well-established and reputed, little expensive, but Overall, a prime institution with respected heri
Placements: It is like a normal college, not so many companies come for placements to our college, but sometimes a little campusing is arranged for the students of some specific departments involving the companies like IFB Agro, TCS, etc. There is also M.Sc course available for some specific subjects like chemistry, physics, microbiology, etc., and our seniors get the opportunity of working in various private organisations receiving a salary between Rs 20,000 - 25,000 which increases gradually with increasing working experience. The students normally get the job of marketing and sales division. There are various internship programmes available in our college from both the central as well as state government such as the most popular "Kanyashri". All students can apply for internships, but it mainly provided by attained marks and economic status.
Infrastructure: Our college is well connected by bus and trains, to and from Kolkata. There are two main buildings and one separate building for M.Sc, separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, one big auditorium with a big playground and a separate area for the canteen. The entire area is surrounded by walls and beautifully embellished with flower gardens. Free Wi-Fi facility is available on the entire campus, and there are various indoor and outdoor playing facilities available like basketball, table tennis, football and badminton. Each department is well-equipped with modern laboratories, libraries, and world-class professors who lead the students to the path of success. The hostels are also available with very low cost and all kinds of amenities. The canteen provides us very good, quality, and hygienic meals with minimum cost.
Faculty: Students can pursue various courses in various subjects in our college. There are more or less 25-30 students and 5-6 professors in each department. The modern teaching method is followed as much as possible, and practical knowledge is also given along with theories. The course curriculum and syllabus for each subject are extremely useful for both working in industries or private or government organisations in future or pursuing higher studies. Our college is accredited with the grade "A" by NAAC as per accreditation in 2017.
Other: Various departments of the college arrange some seminars every year for the betterment of the students along with field visit. Our college also arranges various annual meetings, sports, freshers, and good-bye ceremonies, socials, etc., also with Saraswati Puja and days of national importance. The campus surrounding is good with a lot of mess and paying guest facilities. The college also gives an opportunity to the students to involve in various extra curriculum activities.
