TS LAWCET 2025 Syllabus: Subject-wise Important Topics, Weightage & Books

The official date for the TS LAWCET 2025 exam date has not been announced yet. The exam is expected to be conducted in June 2025. Check out the important details related to the TS LAWCET exam 2025 below:

The TS LAWCET 2024 registration will tentatively start in March 2025, on the official TS LAWCET 2025 portal, lawcet.tsche.ac.in. The registration for 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB through TS PGLCET 2025 will also start on the same date. The registration cum application form for TS LAWCET 2025 will only be made available online. Candidates need to note that the TS LAWCET 2025 exam date for 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB courses will be notified here after the release of the TS LAWCET 2025 notification. The exam will be conducted online at test centres allotted to candidates.  

The TS LAWCET 2025 Notification will tentatively be released in February 2025, on the official website of TSCHE LAWCET, lawcet.tsche.ac.in. As per the notification, the complete schedule for TS LAWCET 2025 will be provided below: 

The TS LAWCET syllabus is divided into three main sections:

General Knowledge & Mental Ability (30 marks):

• Indian and International GK: History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Science & Technology, Awards & Honors, etc.
• Reasoning Ability: Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Critical Reasoning.
• Analytical Ability: Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Problem Solving.

Current Affairs (30 marks):

• National and International Current Affairs covering social, political, economic, legal, and environmental issues.
• Legal awareness of recent judgments, important bills, and legal developments.

Aptitude for Study of Law (60 marks):

• Legal Aptitude: Legal Awareness, Legal Principles, Legal Reasoning.
• Constitution of India: Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, Organs of Government, Amendments.
• Contract Law: Formation of Contract, Breaches of Contract, Remedies.
• Torts: General Principles, Specific Torts, Defenses.
• Criminal Law: Indian Penal Code, General Exceptions, Specific Offenses.

To prepare for the different sections of the TS LAWCET exam, use the following strategies: 

• General Knowledge & Mental Ability: Read newspapers, magazines, and online sources for current affairs. Practice reasoning and analytical problems.
• Current Affairs: Stay updated on recent national and international events, legal judgments, and social issues by joining current affairs and news-related social media group and read news papers and current affairs-related magazines. This strategy will keep you updated with the current events and help you preform
• Aptitude for Study of Law: Develop your legal reasoning, understand basic legal principles, and familiarize yourself with the Constitution, Contract Law, Torts, and Criminal Law. Acquire in-depth knowledge about these subjects by studying them thoroughly.

To prepare for the Reading Comprehension (RC) section of the TS LAWCET, candidates need both speed and accuracy. Here are some effective strategies to boost your performance:

1. Pre-reading Techniques:

• Skim the title and introduction: Gain a context clue about the main topic and potential arguments.
• Scan headings and subheadings: Identify key points and structure of the passage.
• Pay attention to the first and last sentences: Often summarize the main idea or conclusion.

2. Active Reading Strategies:

• Focus on understanding, not memorizing: Read thoughtfully, grasping the author's message and arguments.
• Don't subvocalize: Avoid "sounding out" words in your head; read phrases or full sentences at a time.
• Use a pacer: Move your finger or a pen under the text to maintain a steady reading pace.
• Annotate lightly: Underline key phrases or circle unfamiliar words to come back to later.

3. Post-reading Comprehension:

• Summarize the passage in your own words: Verify your understanding of the main points.
• Answer question stems carefully: Read each question twice, identify the required information, and avoid misinterpretations.
• Eliminate obviously incorrect answers: Narrow down your options before choosing the best answer.
• Practice with timed exercises: Set time limits for passages and questions to simulate exam conditions.

The TS LAWCET exam does not have specified sectional time limits. Candidates usually have a total exam duration of 1.5 hours (90 minutes) to complete all sections. This allowed candidates to manage their time across the various sections based on their individual pace and comfort.

However, exam patterns and rules may change from year to year. It's important to refer to the official TS LAWCET exam notification and guidelines provided by the exam authorities for the most accurate and up-to-date information. If there have been any changes introduced, such as the inclusion of sectional time limits, candidates should adhere to the new guidelines and plan their time accordingly to ensure they can complete all sections within the given time frame.

There are a total of 120 questions in the TS LAWCET question paper. Each section consists of 40 questions, making up the total of 120:

• General Knowledge & Mental Ability: 30 questions
• Current Affairs: 30 questions
• Aptitude for the Study of Law: 60 questions

The Aptitude for the Study of Law is the most important section of the TS LAWCET exam because majority of the questions are asked in this section and it carries a weightage of equal to 60 marks out 120 marks.

Remember, the total number of questions in the TS LAWCET question paper depends on the TS LAWCET exam pattern. The number of questions is unlikely to change, it's best to keep an eye on the official website for any updates or minor alterations.

The official notification for TS PGLCET clearly states that the exam will be conducted in English only. This means that the question paper, instructions, and answer choices will all be in English.

There is no option to take the TS PGLCET in Telugu. Candidates who are not comfortable taking the TS PGLCET in English may want to consider applying for other postgraduate law entrance exams, such as the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) or the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) PG. These exams are conducted in  English, Hindi and different Indian regional languages. Candidates can select Telugu or other language of their preference to take CLAT PG while filling out the application form for the exam.

The marking scheme for TS PGLCET (Telangana State Post Graduate Law Common Entrance Test) is as follows:

1. One Mark per Question: In the TS PGLCET, each question is assigned a value of 1 mark. This means that for every correctly answered question, a candidate earns 1 mark.

2. No Negative Marking: One distinctive feature of the TS PGLCET marking scheme is that there is *no negative marking* for incorrect answers. This is a favorable aspect for candidates as it means that they are not penalized for making guesses or attempting questions they are uncertain about. Therefore, candidates are encouraged to answer all questions in the exam, as there is no risk of losing marks for incorrect responses.

3. Total Marks: The total marks for the TS PGLCET exam is 120 marks. This is because there are a total of 120 questions in the question paper. Part A contains 40 questions, and Part B contains 80 questions. Since each question is worth 1 mark, the maximum achievable score is 120 marks.

4. Minimum Qualifying Marks: To qualify in the TS PGLCET, candidates are required to secure a minimum of 25% of the total marks (30 marks). However, it's important to note that there are usually no minimum qualifying marks for SC and ST category candidates. This means that SC and ST candidates need to score at least some marks to be eligible for admission, but there isn't a fixed percentage they must achieve.

There are two parts in the question paper for TS PGLCET: Part A and Part B. In Part A of the question paper, questions are asked from four subjects, including Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Public International Law and Mercantile Law. However, in Part B of the question paper, questions are asked on three subjects, namely, Labour Law, Crimes and Torts and IPR & Other Important Laws. The full marks of the TS PGLCET exam are 120.
