FTII JET Eligibility Criteria 2025: The exam conducting authority, the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) prescribes the FTII JET 2025 eligibility criteria for all candidates planning to apply for the exam. As per the eligibility criteria of FTII JET 2025, there are set parameters to which candidates need to adhere while filling out the application form. As per the FTII JET eligibility criteria 2025, candidates will have to meet these parameters described under nationality, age limit, and education qualification. FTII is India’s premier Film and TV institute and offers specialised programmes for candidates who want to make a career in the Film and TV industry. The programmes offered through FTII are divided into two wings (Film Wing and TV Wing) under which there are different courses of different duration. The courses are as mentioned in the table below:

Q:   Which institutes can I get via JET exam?

A:

On clearing the Joint Entrance Test (JET), students can get admission into Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) as well as the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India (SRFTI). These two premiere institutes are the conducting body of FTII JET as well. Candidates who qualify in this exam will be eligibile to take up film making related courses in either of the two institutes.

Q:   What is the age limit for FTII JET?

A:

To fill the application form of the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test (FTII JET) examination. Candidates must be minimum 21 years of age. The minimum educational qualification required for candidates to apply for the FTII JET examination is graudation in any discipline. However, for candidates who want to apply for Art Direction and Production Design course they will have to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts, Architecture, Painting, Sculpture, Interior Design or related fields in Fine Arts.

Q:   What if I have not completed graduation by the time of FTII JET? Can I still apply?

A:

If candidate has not completed their graduation or if they are awaiting their graduation results by the time of FTII JET exam, they can still take the test. However, they will have to submit the proof of their graduation qualification during the document verification process. If they fail to do so, their candidature will be rejected, no matter if they qualify in the test.

FTII Admission Process 2025

To get admission in the coveted FTII, candidates need to first visit the official website of FTII and click on the online apply link for JET as and when it is released. After that, candidates will have to fill out the detailed FTII JET application form. While filling out the application form candidates are supposed to upload their required documents and then pay the FTII JET application fee to successfully submit the application form. 

Candidates who successfully submit the application form will be issued the FTII JET admit card to appear in the written exam. Candidates who qualify in the exam as per the FTII JET result will be called for subsequent rounds of Orientation / Interviews. The students will be selected based on their FTII JET score, performance in orientation as well as the interviews.

Q:   Can I apply for more than one course at FTII?

A:

Yes, candidates can apply for more than one course from each of the three groups on the FTII JET application form. However, candidates will have to pay the application fee for like wise as the FTII JET application fee for one course is INR 2,000/-, for two courses it is INR 3,000/- (2000 + 1000) and for three courses it is INR 4,000/- (2000 + 1000 + 1000).

Q:   How much to score to qualify the FTII entrance exam?

A:

There is a cut off which is defined after the exam is conducted. The FTII JET cut off is defined based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, total number of applicants who appeared in the exam and the shifts under which the exam is conducted. Candidates who score equal to or more than the FTII JET cut off will qualify in the exam. As far as the minimum passing marks of FTII JET varies, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII for General Category is 50% for General category while that for OBC NCL category is 45%.

Q:   What is the passing marks for FTII JET?

A:

The minimum passing marks for the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test varies, however, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII are: i) 50% for General category. ii) 45% for OBC NCL category. iii) 40% for SC/ST category.

Q:   Can I get a scholarship to get into FTII?

A:

According to FTII, Pune's website, there are several scholarships that the institute offers and several others that potential students can avail. The institute offers the following scholarships based on merit and performance credits during the students' time there. 

  1. Entrance Exam Merit - Given to toppers in each of the film wing courses; INR 12,500 per year. 
  2. 1st Semester Merit - Given to the first 3 toppers; Common Module (Editing, Sound Recording & Sound Design, Art Direction & Production Design and Screenplay Writing); 1st topper get INR 24,000, 2nd gets INR 21,500 and the 3rd gets INR 19,000 every year
  3. Given to acting topper; INR 24,000 / year
  4. Given to screenplay writing topper; INR 24,000 / year
  5. 2nd to 5th Semester Merit - Given to the 1st and 2nd topper of each course; INR 13,500 and INR 11,500 respectively.

A:

Q: What are the eligibility criteria to appear in the FTII JET exam?

A: As per the eligibility criteria of the FTII JET exam candidates must attain a minimum age of 21 years. They must hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree to appear for the courses offered by FTII. However, for Art Direction/Production Design programmes, candidates need to have graduated in the Arts stream. For Sound Design and Music Production programmes, they need to have Physics in 10+2.

Q: What is the FTII admission process?

A: As per the official FTII admission process, there are two stages in the FTII JET exam - Written test followed by the FTII JET Counselling. The Counselling process will be held in 2 rounds of personal interviews and orientation after which a Medical test will be done after which candidate's will be finally selected for the programmes.

A: No candidates can't to FTII after completing their 12th as the minimum educational qualification required to be admission into FTII is a Bachelor's degree.

A: To be admission into an acting course at Pune Film Institute candidates need to have a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. They will have to qualify in the written examination of 03 hours duration (JET) for 100 marks, conducted at FTII JET examination centres around the country and appear in the counselling round after which they will get admission into FTII JET.

A: Students will be selected in FTII Pune on the basis of their JET scores and performance in the interview round. On the basis of their performance in the FTII JET, the merit list of shortlisted candidates will be made available on the official website of the Institute.

A: FTII is one of India's premier TV & Film institutes and students all over India plan to take admission into it. It is one of the toughest exams but not tougher as compared to other popular government competitive examinations like JEE, NEET NDA or UPSC CSE. However, due to limited seats which is around 100-110 for all courses combined and a lot of candidates applying the competition level is tough. As per the past year's FTII JET analysis, the difficulty level of the FTII JET exam is moderate to difficult level. If candidates practise and prepare well for the exam, they can easily qualify in the JET exam.
