Q: Â How is SNAP different from other management entrance exams?
SNAP features three major sections, namely General English Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency, and Analytical & Logical Reasoning. The test lasts for 60 minutes and comprises 60 questions, with each correct answer earning one mark and a 0.25 mark deduction for each incorrect response. Additionally, the exam is conducted in online mode, making it a more convenient option for test-takers.
The SNAP 2023 syllabus encompasses a broad range of topics, including Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude Data Interpretation, and Analytical & Logical Reasoning. To make it to the next round of the selection process, candidates must meet the required cut-off score and impress the selection panel during Group Exercise, Personal Interaction, and Writing Ability Test (GE-PIWAT).
Compared to other management entrance exams like CAT XAT and MAT SNAP 2023 is a refreshing change of pace. With its shorter duration, fewer questions, and different selection process, it provides candidates with a unique opportunity to demonstrate their skills and stand out from the crowd.
Q: Â How many attempts are allowed in SNAP exam?
Every candidate can make three attempts in SNAP exam. The SNAP exam is conducted in three sessions in a gap of one or two weeks. Candidates can mention their number of attempts in the SNAP application form. However, they will have to pay application fee per session. Thus, candidates who are sure of making multiple attempts only then they should apply for multiple sessions as the fee amount is non-refundable. The scores of best attempt will be taken into consideration for shortlisting of candidates for Group Exercise, Personal Interview and Writing Ability Test.
Ideally candidates must take all three attempts as the difficulty level of the sessions could be different and it may so happen that one session is easy and candidates can score high in that.

Q: Â Can I prepare for SNAP in 3 months?
Yes, SNAP preparation is possible in three months as the difficulty level of this exam is easy to moderate. So, if one starts preparing for it with only three months in hand, even then they can score well if they put in six to eight hours daily into preparation. Complete the syllabus in 45 days and the give one month to mock test practice. In the last few days, do revision for complete preparation. To be in a better position, focus more on the topics from which maximum questions are asked. For example, in General English, most of the questions are Grammar based, so focus on it more. In Quantitative Aptitude section, more questions are asked from Arithmetic and Algebra than Geometry so focus on the former two. SNAP always has at least data interpretation question so don’t ignore it. On the other hand, the Logical Reasoning section of SNAP has maximum number of questions (25) and topics are diverse so pay more attention on this section if you have less time to prepare.

Q: Â I am preparing for CAT exam. Do I need to prepare for SNAP exam separately?
Those preparing for both CAT and SNAP exam need not prepare separately. CAT and SNAP syllabus are the same so one can prepare for both from the same study material. However, since the exam pattern and difficulty level of both exams are different from each other, candidates need to devote a good amount of time on exam specific preparation. They must practice SNAP mock tests to understand the test pattern, topic-wise weightage, types of questions and difficulty level of the questions. The biggest difference between SNAP and CAT is the type of questions, so you need to practice sample question for SNAP to know how and what to prepare for it. You also need to know the sectional composition of SNAP, which is different from CAT. SNAP is easier than CAT so a mix of tough and moderate level SNAP sample questions and mock tests will be adequate for preparation.
Q: Â Which are the best books for SNAP preparation?
SNAP syllabus is similar to other MBA entrance exams, so candidates can prepare for it by referring to books for CAT and XAT, etc. But they must solve SNAP specific sample paper and mock tests to develop the skill to solve SNAP questions which are slightly different from other MBA entrance exams. Some of the books that are recommended for SNAP preparation have been listed below:
- Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations by Varun Gupta
- Quantitative Aptitude for All Competitive Examinations by Abhijit Guha
- Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations by R S Aggarwal
- SNAP Symbiosis MBA Admission Test by Priyanka Prakashan
- A Modern Approach to Logical Reasoning by R S Aggarwal
- Objective General English by R.S. Aggarwal, Vikas Aggarwal
- Competitive General English by Kiran Prakashan
- General English for Competitive Exams by Disha Experts
- High School English Grammar by Wren & Martin
- Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis
Q: Â Should I take coaching for SNAP preparation?
Yes, coaching is recommended for preparation for any competitive exam as the candidate gets best of aid such as books, study material and mentors. However, the candidates must join coaching if only they can follow the rigorous time-table and daily classes.
About six to eight hours daily is considered good enough duration for SNAP preparation. However, if you start exam preparation late (by October) then you need to devote 10-12 hours daily. SNAP is easy and if you are preparing for other MBA entrance exams, you may not need to work too hard on it. A good number of sample papers and mock tests will be good enough.

- How to Prepare for Data Interpretation for CAT
- How to Prepare for Logical Reasoning for the CAT by Arun Sharma

However, whether to appear for the exam again or not is the decision to be taken at the time of SNAP form filling only as the option to appear for multiple sessions is mentioned in the application form only. You cannot register for re-test after the SNAP registration window closes.
Best score of all the attempts will be considered for admission. The scores mentioned on the SNAP scorecard are final. If any candidate wishes to improve the score, then they will have to attempt the exam next year again.
Q: Â For how long is SNAP scorecard be available for download?
The SNAP scorecard is available for download for about 1 year from the date of release. Test takers will be able to download their scorecards any number of times by using their login credentials. After one year, the link to download the SNAP scorecard will be deactivated. If a candidate will need to download the scorecard, then they will have to seek help from the SNAP Test authorities.
SNAP scorecard is a mandatory document for admission to any college accepting the score. Thus, candidates must download their scorecards as soon as it is released and save a soft copy of the same in a folder or email for future reference. This way, they will not have to worry about misplacing it or the need to download it again.
Q: Â If I forget my SNAP ID, how can I retrieve my login to download SNAP result?
If you forget your SNAP login credentials, then you can create a new password by using the ‘forgot password’ option available on the login page. You can simply click on ‘forgot password’ and follow the instructions displayed on scree to change the password to log in. To get a new password, you will need to remember the correct email ID or the mobile phone number through which you had registered earlier. If you don’t remember that too, then you will have to contact the exam authorities for help.
It is better to note down the password somewhere so that you don’t forget it. SNAP login password is not only important for results but also for all other admission related activities such as filling the PI form, etc.

Q: Â What is the eligibility criteria for SNAP and what is the selection process?
The eligibility criteria and selection process are designed to pick the cream of the crop. To be eligible, candidates need to have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks. But don't fret if you're in your final year, as you can still apply as long as you obtain the required minimum marks. Once you clear the eligibility criteria, the selection process begins, which includes shortlisting candidates based on their SNAP score, followed by the Group Exercise, Personal Interaction, and Writing Ability Test (GE-PIWAT).
To secure your spot, you need to perform well in all stages of the selection process, including demonstrating your aptitude, communication skills, and leadership potential. It's a competitive and rigorous process, but with dedication and preparation, you can ace it and be on your way to a bright future in the field of management.
Q: Â Is SNAP exam score the only criterion for SIIB MBA admission?
No, clearing the SNAP exam is not the only criterion for SIIB admission. The candidates will also have to clear a personality assessment test which includes Group Exercise (GE), Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) round to be selected for SIIB admission. This personality assessment round is conducted after SNAP result announcement and only those candidates are eligible who meet the SNAP cut off fixed by the institutes.
Apart from that, the institutes evaluate every shortlisted candidate’s academic record, i.e. score of class 10, 12 and graduation. Those who have been scoring consistently well in academics too, stand a better chance of getting selected for admission. Marks relaxation for academic and gender diversity, and work experience are also important factors for selection.
Q: Â What is the MBA selection criteria through SNAP?
Candidates are selected on the basis of SNAP cut offs for the MBA admission round which consists of Group Exercise (GE), Personal Interview (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT). This round is held in February and March after the announcement of SNAP result.
Candidates who clear the GE-PI-WAT round are selected for MBA admission. The parameters for selection also include class 10, 12 and graduation scores, academic profile and work experience. All SIU institutes conduct Group Exercise, Writing Ability Test but individually.
Sectional SNAP cut offs may be evaluated for selection of candidate for Group Exercise, Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview. Scores of every section will be taken into consideration for shortlisting of candidates along with their academic record. Thus, candidates must ensure that they perform well enough in each section of the SNAP exam.
Q: Â I am in my final year of Graduation. Can I apply for SNAP 2024?
Yes, you are eligible to apply for SNAP 2024. You will need to mention the same in the SNAP application form. Since there is minimum score requirement for SNAP, final year candidates will have to make sure that their minimum score of first and second year of the bachelor’s degree programme should be above 50 per cent (45 per cent for reserved category). So, you need to check the average score of your first and second score is above the minimum requirement or not. If not, the in the final year you will have to score as much that the average score of three years matches the requirement. If the average score of your first and second year is above the minimum requirement even them, in the final year, you will have to score above the minimum score requirement otherwise the admission will be deemed invalid, even if you fulfill all the admission criteria.
