The NEET MDS 2024 question paper was on the expected lines and there was no change in the pattern or structure. As compared to last year, the NEET MDS exam was on similar lines in terms of difficulty level and question types. The number of image-based questions was higher. Some of the theoretical questions were asked in an indirect manner, which confused candidates. There was equal weightage across topics.

Q:   What is the approximate weightage of topics such as Dental Materials, General Medicine and General Surgery in NEET MDS?

A:

Topics such as Dental Materials, General Medicine and General Surgery carry approximately 14 marks each in the NEET MDS entrance exam. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) does not release the exact topic-wise weightgae of NEET MDS exam. Moreover, the past year NEET MDS question papers are also not released by NBE. Hence, the exact makrs or weightage prediction is difficult. The approximate weightage mentioned here is based on previous years' student reactions.

Q:   What is the total number of questions in NEET MDS exam?

A:

The NEET MDS exam consists of 240 objective type multiple choice questions (MCQs). Each question carries four answer options, out of which candidates have to select the correct answer option and mark it. Divided into two parts, the Part A of the question paper will have 100 questions and Part B of the paper will have 140 questions.

Q:   Does solving the previous year NEET MDS question papers prove helpful?

A:

Yes, solving previous years NEET MDS question papers plays a vital role and has been proven beneficial as well. Solving previous years question papers helps the candidate to analyse themselves thoroughly and gives a clear picture of their exam preparations. Candidates get a proper insight into their current situation and help them strategise and plan their preparations accordingly. However, NBE or the exam conducting body does not release the NEET MDS question papers. Hence, students can either rely on their mentors or professors, or previous year candidates' memory based questions.

Q:   What is the total number of subjects in the NEET MDS exam?

A:

There are a total of 17 subjects or topics from which questions are asked in the NEET MDS exam. Each of the subject carries 14 to 15 questions. While all subjects carry 14 questions, there are two subjects, General Medicine and General Surgery, which carry 15 questions each. Candidates will not be provided any choice in terms of attempting the subjects or sections. Moreover, there is no time limit to attempt the subjects. Hence, candidates will have to divide the time accordingly in order to solve as many questions as possible within the three hours total duration.

Dr Gaurav Malviya: I found the exam to be of moderate difficulty level. The number of image-based questions was higher than last year. Since the theoretical questions were sitter-based, I doubt that I might face some negative markings. I attempted 120 questions.

Dr Aakash Srivastava: The exam was too tough. I think the cutoff will be around 165-180. I have attempted around 120 questions. I had appeared for NEET MDS exam last year as well, but this year's exam was tougher than last year.

Dr Kumar Raman: The exam was of moderate difficulty level. Although the questions were not too tough, but they were lengthy. I attempted around 240 questions. The pattern and structure of the paper was as per expectation.
