Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 Counselling dates for the first three rounds have been announced by CET Cell Maharashtra. CET Cell Maharashtra released the seat allotment result for Round 2 of the Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 Counselling on December 23, 2024. A total of 5,419 candidates have been allotted seats. Out of that, 3,440 candidates’ choices were not available for allotment.

The last date to fill the Status Retention Form was December 28, 2024, till 5.30 PM, in person. The institute reporting process was conducted from December 24 to December 28, 2024, 5.30 PM, by physically being present in the allotted institute with the requisite documents.

The choice filling process was conducted from December 19 to December 21, 2024. There were 1,760 seats in this round.

The Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 Counselling Round 1 seat allotment result was declared on November 30, 2024. The institute reporting process was conducted till December 4, 2024, 5.30 PM.  As many as 6,237 candidates were allotted seats.

Originally the date to declare the Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 Counselling Round 1 result was November 28, 2024, but it was postponed by two days. The institute reporting last date was also extended by a day, from December 3 to December 4, 2024.

The Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 Counselling combined provisional merit list and seat matrix were released on November 22, 2024. The choice filling process was conducted from November 23 to November 25, 2024.  

As many as 6,657 candidates have been included in the common merit list of Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 counselling. On the other hand, the total number of In-Service candidates is 111. The following table brings the seat matrix and merit list for the Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 Round 1 counselling.

The Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024 schedule for the first three rounds has been released by the CET Cell Maharashtra. The entire duration of Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 counselling is scheduled till January 20, 2025. The registration process for Round 1 was conducted from September 27 to October 16, 2024. 

The registration fee is INR 3,000. While registration window will not be provided in the second round, the window will open again in Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024 Round 3.

The NEET PG 2024 exam was conducted on August 11, 2024. The result was declared on August 23, 2024, and the counselling process began after a month. 

On the other hand, the NEET MDS 2024 exam was conducted on March 18, 2024, and the result was declared on April 3, 2024. Hence, there is a possibility that the Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024 for MDS courses will begin earlier. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducted the NEET MDS 2024 counselling process from July 1, 2024, to September 14, 2024

Candidates seeking admission to postgraduate courses across medical colleges in Maharashtra have to register and fill the application form on the official website, cetcell.mahacet.org by providing personal details, contact number, academic records, and NEET PG 2024 or NEET MDS 2024 details, as and when the Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2024 process begins. Following registration and choice filling, CET Cell Maharashtra will release a provisional merit list and seat allotment result. After that, a physical document verification process will be held. 

The Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 counselling is being held for the allotment of 50 per cent state quota seats. The counselling will be held for allotment of 4,784 MD, MS, and PG Diploma seats across medical and dental colleges in Maharashtra.

A:

Maharashtra NEET PG counselling process is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra. The state counselling authority for Maharashtra conducts the admission process for postgraduate medical and dental courses offered in the state under the 50 per cent State Quota seats. Candidates who qualify for the NEET PG and NEET MDS exams are eligible to participate in this state counselling. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra released the Maharashtra NEET PG counselling dates for 2024 on September 27, 2024. The last date of Maharashtra NEET PG counselling registration for Round 1 was October 16, 2024, and the registration fee had to be paid by October 17, 2024. While there is no option to register in the second round, the registration or application window for Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024 Round 3 will be open from January 4 to January 6, 2025. Generally, the last date of Maharashtra NEET PG registration is scheduled three to four days of the commencement of the registration process.

Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024: Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to participate in the Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 counselling are given below.

Nationality:

  • Candidate must be an Indian national to apply for Maharashtra NEET PG counselling  
  • Non-resident Indians (NRI) are eligible only for the 15 per cent NRI quota seats in unaided private/minority medical colleges
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are not eligible for Maharashtra PG medical counselling

Domicile:

  • Candidate must have passed the final examination of the MBBS degree course from an institute in Maharashtra
  • He/she must have completed the compulsory rotatory internship within the stipulated date as stated by NMC
  • Candidates who have passed MBBS from a foreign university are not eligible
  • Candidates who are domiciled in the state of Maharashtra and have completed his/her MBBS from outside Maharashtra (allocated a seat under 15 per cent AIQ), were also eligible for the counselling of Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2024.

Q:   Is it possible to participate in Maharashtra NEET PG counselling and national-level counselling simultaneously?

A:

Yes, it is possible to participate in both Maharashtra NEET PG counselling as well as the national-level NEET PG or NEET MDS counselling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). However, in case a candidate is allotted a seat in either of the counsellings and he/she accepts the seat by institute reporting and document verification, then that candidate will not be eligible to participate in further rounds of counselling or the other counselling type. Hence, candidates must carefully assess the admission options and then take the final decision.

Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024: The Process

The step by step process to participate in the NEET PG 2024 counselling is explained below.

Online Registration and application

  • Candidates who wish to participate in the counselling of Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 have to register themselves on the official website-mahacet.org. (The direct link will be provided as and when the website will be active).
  • Candidates are advised to read the instructions carefully before filling the application form for Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 counselling.
  • They must also note that any changes to the application form of Maharashtra PG medical counselling can be made before the final submission. There is no provision to make changes to the details filled in the application once it is submitted.
  • To complete the registration process, the candidate needs to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 3,000. The receipt of the application fee has to be preserved for future reference.
  • The last step of registration is uploading the documents online. Documents can not be uploaded without paying the application fee.

Common state merit list

A common state merit list will be published on the official website of the Maharashtra CET cell. This is prepared based on the marks obtained in the NEET PG 2024 examination. Only those who are declared eligible in the online document verification process are included in this list.

Online preference filling

Details of the seats available through the Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024 will be published online. Candidates named in the state merit list have to fill up a preference form online to apply for these seats. Candidates must remember that the choices filled in the preference form can be changed any number of times before submitting it, but once submitted, there will not be any option to modify. Also, this is a one-time process only and candidates will not be given a chance to change their choices before the subsequent round of Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 counselling.

The selection process by CAP

Selection of the candidates was based on the choices filled in the preference form and rank obtained in the state merit list. Candidates who wish to retain the seats allocated to them must report to the respective institute before the deadline.

Joining the allotted institute

Candidates have to report to the allotted institute with all their documents for the verification process, They have to deposit the fees after the verification process is complete and must join the institute immediately. 

Q:   Can I register directly for the second round of the Maharashtra NEET PG counselling?

A:

No, the registration window for Maharashtra NEET PG counselling opens only before the first round of counselling. Candidates who would not register for the first round of counselling will not be able to participate in the second round. However, last year, registration opportunity was given to candidates for Round 3. Candidates must note that this was the process followed last year. This year, the process may change and candidates may be given an opportunity to register separately for each round of Maharashtra NEET PG counselling.
