GPAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

GPAT 2024 eligibility criteria will be released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) for admission to post-graduate level pharmacy (PG) programs. The GPAT exam is a Computer Based Test (CBT) for which the GPAT registration schedule will be announced by NBEMS in the next academic year. But before applying for the GPAT 2024 exam, the candidates must read and understand the GPAT eligibility criteria 2024 which will be essential to qualify for the GPAT 2024 application process.

Q:   Do I need to appear in BITS HD 2025 exam if I have GATE/GPAT score?

A:

No, applicants having valid GATE/GPAT score do not have to appear in the BITS HD 2025 exam. Candidates need to fill the GATE/GPAT exam details, such as providing their GATE 2025 scores at the time of filling the application form. The iteration result for GPAT/GATE and BITS HD exam will be released separately on the official website.

Q:   How many test centres can I select for GPAT exam?

A:
Candidates can select as many as 3 preferred test cities while filling the GPAT application form. The test centres are provided on first come first serve basis to the candidates. It is mandatory to select three test centers from the list of test cities. The final decision to allot the GPAT test center rests with the GPAT exam conducting authorities. Once chosen, candidates cannot make any further changes to the test cities. Therefore, candidates are advised to choose the test cities carefully.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria to appear for the GPAT entrance exam?

A:

GPAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Read on to find out the basic GPAT eligibility criteria before registering for the GPAT exam:

1. The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (4 years after 10 2, including lateral entry students) or equivalent from a recognized university.

2. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s Degree BPharmacy (10 2 4) whose results will be declared before the commencement of admission for the academic year 2024-24 can also apply for the GPAT exam.

Q:   How many candidates appeared for GPAT last year?

A:
As many as 50,508 candidates appeared for the GPAT exam last year. The GPAT exam is a national-level pharmacy entrance exam. Candidates seeking admission to M.Pharma MBA in Pharmacy, M.Tech in Pharmacy are required to appear for the GPAT exam. The GPAT exam score is mandatory and basic requirement to screen the students for admission by the top pharmacy colleges in India. The basic eligibility condition to get admission in the best pharmacy colleges is to appear for the GPAT entrance exam.

Q:   Can I get into Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University without GPAT?

A:

For post graduation M.Pharma, the candidate must attempt the GPAT-Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test and qualify it. For admission to the B.Pharma program at DPSRU, a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in the Higher Secondary/Intermediate examination with English as one of the compulsory subjects is required. Apart from English, a combination of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and/or Biology (PCM/PCMB) is compulsory. 

Q:   What is the age limit to appear for GPAT exam?

A:

There is no age limit to apply for the GPAT exam. NBEMS has not kept any upper age limit for the candidates interested in pursuing the MPharma program. However, the minimum age to apply for the GPAT exam is 18 years. Applicants are advised to check the age and education wise criteria.

Q:   I appeared for the GPAT exam last year. Can I again apply this year as well?

A:

Yes, there is no restrictions on the number of attempts that a candidate can give to appear for the GPAT entrance exam. However, there is a lower age limit to appear for the exam. Candidates not less than 17 years of age can only apply for the GPAT exam. The GPAT 2025 application process is generally conducted for a period of 30 days. The GPAT 2025 registration process will be organised online at the official admission portal. It is mandatory to register for the exam in order to apply for the MPharma course.

3. The candidate must be a citizen of India.

4. The candidate should have pursued B.Tech. (Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical Technology)/ equivalent candidates are not eligible to apply.

5. There is no age restriction for appearing in GPAT 2024.

GPAT Reservation Policy

Although there is no reservation envisaged by NTA in terms of admission granted by independent colleges/institutes, however in the case of Institutes run by the Central Government, the reservation would be applicable as mentioned below:

(i) 15% of the seats Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates

(ii) 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates

(iii) 27% seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) candidates as per the Central List*

(iv) 10% of the seats for General Economically Weaker Sections (General - EWS) candidates

(v) Persons with Disability (PwD) with 40% or more disability

2. Each category will have 5% reservations for the candidates with 40% or more disability as defined in Section 2 (r) and (zc) of the Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.

3. In the case of the Institutes run/aided/recognized by State Governments, the reservation policy of the respective State Governments shall be applicable.

No, Applicants who are planning to appear in GPAT exam must note that there will be no refund if the candidates who completed the registration and pay the application fees. Hence one must be very careful before filling the form and submit the fees while appearing in the exam.
