CBSE 10, 12 Results 2022

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced CBSE 12th results 2022 on July 22. It is expected that CBSE 10th Results 2022 will be out soon as well.  As decided earlier, CBSE did away with the term ‘Fail’ in the marksheets and replaced it with ‘Essential Repeat’ in the result documents. Earlier in February 2020, CBSE announced a major change to the CBSE 10th results 2022 and CBSE 12th Result 2022 Marksheets that will be issued to the students. According to the previous reports, the CBSE decided not to use the words ‘Failed’ and ‘Compartmental’ in the CBSE 2020 result marksheets. The proposal is being considered as a part of the Board’s policy to avoid a negative impact on board exam results on the students’ psyche. To make this policy a rule, the CBSE has reached out to the school principals and regional offices of CBSE schools asking them suggestions for the replacement word that can be used instead of ‘failed’ and ‘compartmental’ in the CBSE final examination marksheets.

Students face tremendous pressure in class 10 and class 12 to perform well in the CBSE exam. The Board believes that when it comes to results, students do get affected seeing words like failed or compartmental in their Board exam marksheets. According to the latest reports, the Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to replace ‘failed’ and ‘compartmental’ words with words that can inspire students and help them perform better the next time they appear for the examination.

Currently, the students who fail in more than two exams are notified as ‘failed’ and the students who fail two or fewer subjects are tagged as ‘compartmental’ during the announcement of the final board exam results. After the implementation of this new proposal, the student will be issued results that will not contain words like ‘Failed’ or ‘Compartment’.

Impact of 'Failed' and 'Compartment' on students' mental health

According to famous psychiatrists, harsh words on the CBSE marksheet adversely affect the mental health of students. Even if they do not take drastic steps such as an attempt on their own life due to being unable to cope with that stress, at times, the pressure can eat away at their mental health. A subconscious trauma can start to develop in the minds of students on seeing the terms 'failed' or 'compartmental' on the CBSE marksheet. Many students also develop an intense and irrational fear of exams are doing badly.
