The department successfully installed the full-body sanitisation tunnel at Delhi's Azadpur vegetables & fruits wholesale market with the help of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi startup Estylo.

The Delhi government recently installed two sanitisation tunnels at the gates of Azadpur Mandi, Asia’s largest wholesale market, in order to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The department successfully installed the full-body sanitisation tunnel at Delhi's Azadpur vegetables & fruits wholesale market with the help of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi startup Estylo.

Talking about this newly installed innovation, Development Minister Gopal Rai stated that every person entering the market will have to go through the tunnel and get sanitised in the process. No person will be allowed inside without going through this sanitization process. Depending upon the success of these machines, the department will install such machines at all the mandis of Delhi.

He further added that the state government cannot shut the functions of the market as the Azadpur Mandi supplies essential items to the entire Delhi. The Delhi government installed two full-body sanitisation machines at the gates of the mandi. Every person entering and exiting the mandi will have to pass through these machines. This will protect people from spreading COVID-19 infection.

The government marked circles in front of the shops for the people to follow social distancing. The traders are also instructed to follow the same.

Talking about the efforts government is putting to contain the novel coronavirus spread in the state, Mr. Rai expressed ‘special attention will be given to cleanliness at the market apart from ensuring that those visiting the mandi or employed there wore masks.’

Authorities are educating the people and asking them to follow all the precautionary measures. The government is also distributing masks among the people there and disinfecting the mandi area.
