The NID Entrance Exam is easily one of the toughest design entrance exams conducted in India, considering around 15,000 candidates appear in the exam. Remember, there are only 425 seats for the B.Des program and 347 seats for the M.Des program.

The DAT Prelims and DAT Mains exams are conducted separately, with only shortlisted candidates eligible to appear in DAT Mains. 

Exam centers will be assigned separately for each exam.

Coaching is not integral to your doing well in the NID DAT 2024 exam.

Remember that the NID exam will test your creative, drawing, and innovative skills. Now, a coaching institute cannot exactly teach infuse creativity, or become innovativeness inside you in such a short period. Instead, with sustained effort these skills can be learned by self.

Another thing is a major thrust of the design aptitude test is to evaluate the drawing skills of the candidate. So, make it a point to work on your design skills, including learning how to draw lines, shadow, figure, gesture, cartoon drawing, etc. 

There will be no negative marks for wrong answers in the NID DAT 2024 exam. So, the candidate should try to attempt all the questions.

NID officials will verify the caste certificates uploaded by the candidate at the time of filling out the NID DAT 2024 application form once the DAT Prelims exam concludes. 

If any discrepancy is found, the candidate may be considered under open category. In some cases, the candidate may also be disqualified.

NIFT officials have also released an update on COVID-19 as part of their exam guidelines. 

Candidates who have tested COVID-19 positive recently and are in compulsory/mandatory quarantine will not be allowed to enter the enter exam hall nor he or she will be allowed to take the entrance exam.

Further, if any candidate has a mild fever, cold, or cough, will not be allowed to take the exam to avoid the spread of COVID.

The candidate will not be allowed inside the NID DAT 2024 exam center unless he or she produces a printout of the NID DAT admit card 2024. 

A digital copy of the admit card will not be accepted.

If the candidate fails to produce a valid and acceptable photo ID proof, then he or she will not be allowed to take the NID DAT 2024 entrance exam.

Note that the ID proof must be in the original.

Photocopies or digital copies of the ID proof will not be accepted.

The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the admit card for the Design Aptitude Test Prelims.

Note that the reporting time and gate closing are the same for both B.Des and M.Des courses.

The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the DAT Prelims admit card.

As per the official notification, the admit card should be available from 1600 hrs. Tuesday, 12 December 2023. So, with the clock striking 4 pm, the admit card should be available for download now!

The NID entrance exam is conducted in two stages: NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains.

1. DAT Prelims is a written entrance exam that includes both objective and subjective-type questions. DAT Prelims exam for the B. Des program will include questions from topics like color terminology, principles of composition, form and function, etc.
2. DAT Mains comprises a studio test and interview round. 

Candidates who qualify in the NID DAT 2024 exam will be considered for admission to the M.Des and B. Des courses offered by participating college

The National Institute of Design hasn't released any official figures on the number of applicants for NID DAT 2023.

However, unofficial sources estimate that some 15,000 or so applicants appeared in the NID DAT 2023 (Prelims) exam. Given there are only limited seats available for the B.Des and M.Des courses, the NID DAT entrance is easily one of the most competitve.

If you are wondering what the DAT Prelims admit card would look like, here is a copy.

As per the official notification, the admit card will be released at 4 pm. So, there is a little more than an hour or so to go before the release of the admit card.

Candidates are urged to keep checking their emails for any updates on the admit card.

After DAT Prelims results are declared, candidates will be given the option to apply for a re-check:

The National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts the NIFT entrance exam for admission to the B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses.

The application form for NIFT 2024 is currently open without late fees from December 5 to January 3, 2024. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility may apply for NIFT 2024 before the last date.

The NID admission eligibility criteria for the M.Des program are given below.

Some of the typical issues related to the NID DAT admit card 2024 are discussed below.

1. The name of the candidate may be incorrectly spelled
2. You may be allocated an exam center that you haven't opted for
3. Some parts of the information may be blurred
4. Some characters may be missing, for instance, the roll number may be incomplete

In any of the above cases, you must get in touch with NID admission officials and get the desired solution. 

The NID admit card 2024 will contain the name and full address of the exam center allocated to the candidate.  

So, after downloading the admit card, check the details mentioned in the admit card. In case you are allocated a centre you have not opted for, please contact exam officials immediately and get it sorted.

On the day of the NID DAT 2024 exam, you need to follow these. 

• Report at the exam center as per the reporting time mentioned in the admit card. 
• Documents - Carry a printout of the admit card and a photo ID proof in original. 
• Don't indulge in illegal activities - Any candidate found indulging in unfair means or impersonation will be disqualified and may face criminal proceedings. 
• Bring your own stationery - Bring pens, pencils, sharpeners, ruler, eraser, sketch pens, colours, etc. Stationery will not be provided to the candidate inside the exam hall. 
• Barred items - Electronic devices, including mobile phones, smartphones, smartwatches, calculators, and tablets, are not allowed inside the exam hall. Written texts, books, and similar items are also not allowed. Handbags, purses, wallets, markers, papers, and bags are other items you must not bring to the exam hall.
• You are not allowed to take the NID DAT question booklet along with them after the exam is over

In case the candidate faces any difficulty in downloading the DAT Prelims admit card, it is recommended to immediately contact NID admission officials:

The DAT Prelims exam will be conducted on December 24, 2023.

DAT Prelims admit card will be released for all candidates who have successfully registered for the exam and paid the NID DAT 2024 application fees.

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Des program need to meet the following criteria:

The DAT Prelims is the first stage of the NID DAT 2024 entrance exam. If shortlisted, the candidate has to appear in DAT Mains. The final merit list will be prepared giving weightage to both DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

So, yes, the candidate mandatorily has to appear in both DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

The application process for the UCEED 2024 exam is now closed. The last date to apply for the UCEED 2024 exam with late fees was November 20, 2023. 

The deadline to apply with regular fees was November 13, 2023.

On exam day, follow these instructions. 

• Reporting time: The exam-center reporting time will be mentioned in the NID DAT 2024 admit card.
• Admit card - Carry a printout of the admit card with you. 
• ID proof - Along with the admit card, bring a valid photo ID proof. 
• Impersonation and use of unfair means - Indulging in unfair means or impersonation could lead to disqualification. So, follow the given rules. 
• Stationery - Carry your own stationery, including pens, pencils, sharpeners, rulers, erasers, sketch pens, colours, etc.  
• Barred items - Electronic devices, including mobile phones, smartphones, smartwatches, calculators, and tablets, are not allowed inside the exam hall. Written texts, books, or any other items that may be used to gain an unfair advantage over other candidates are also not allowed. The barred list also includes the following items - handbags, purses, wallets, markers, papers, and bags.
• Candidates are not allowed to take the NID DAT question booklet along with them after the exam is over

You mustn't wait until the last few hours of the exam to download the NID DAT 2024 admit card. It is because there are chances there is a server crash, website slowdown, or some other issues due to which you may not be able to download the admit card.

So, download the admit card as soon as you can.

It is unlikely that there will be a baggage counter at the NID 2024 exam center. So, it is recommended that the candidate doesn't bring unnecessary items to the NID 2024 exam center.

The admit card for NID DAT 2024 (Prelims) is scheduled to be released at 4 pm, December 12, 2024. The candidate, however, is urged to keep looking up this space because in some cases, the admit card is released before schedule. In other cases, the admit card may also get delayed by a few hours! 

The NID DAT 2024 final results will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. However, the respective weightages for each exam haven't been announced yet. 

In the previous edition, DAT Prelims carried 40% weightage, whereas DAT Mains was worth 60% weightage. 

Candidates seeking admission to the design courses offered by the NIDs can apply under any of the following categories:

The M.Des candidate will have to submit a portfolio at the time of the personal interview (DAT Mains). Note that B.Des candidates aren't required to submit any portfolio. 

The admission process at the NIDs is conducted in the following sequence:

1. DAT Prelims
2. DAT Mains
3. Counseling

The allotment of seats will be on the basis of NID DAT 2024 merit ranks. For the B.Des program, admission officials will also consider the institute preference of the candidate. 

The NIDs offer B.Des, M.Des, and PhD courses.

•  B.Des.- 4 Year
• M.Des.- 2 ½ Year
• PhD – Full Time (3 Years)
• Part-time (5 Years).

There is no need to apply separately to each campus. Instead, the candidate had to fill out one common application. The selection of campuses or campus preferences has to be opted at the time of counseling.

Submitting the NID DAT 2024 online application form successfully does not guarantee the candidate admission to either the B.Des or M.Des program. To be considered for admission, the candidate will also have to meet the prescribed eligibility criteria and secure a merit rank in NID DAT 2024 and meet the cut-off criteria in his or her category.

DAT Mains is the Second Stage of the NID DAT 2024 entrance exam. Shortlisted candidates from the DAT Prelims appear in DAT Mains. 

The test will include a studio test and personal interviews.

The studio test will evaluate hands-on skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. On the other hand,  the personal interview will assess the candidate's perspective on design, motivation, and communication skills.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the DAT Prelims exam in 22 cities. The detailed list of DAT Prelims exam centers has been given in the respective handbooks for the B.Des and M.Des programs.

The section-wise types of questions asked, no. of questions, and marks are given below.  

As per the official NID exam pattern 2024, DAT Prelims will be a paper-and-pencil/pen test that will feature both text and visuals. DAT Prelims will assess the candidate's design aptitude, creativity, visual observation, and analytical ability. The question paper will be of 100 marks. 

The full form of NID DAT is the National Institute of Design - Design Aptitude Test.

The NID DAT entrance exam is conducted once every year for admission to the B.Des and M.Des courses offered by NID participating colleges.

The Design Aptitude Test has two parts - DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. The candidate first appears in DAT Prelims, and if shortlisted, next has to appear in DAT Mains.

Currently, the participating institutes of NID DAT 2024 have an intake of 425 seats for the B.Des program, while the M.Des program has 347 seats.

If you have failed to duly complete the application form and didn't pay the application fee, you will not be issued the NID DAT 2024 (Prelims) admit card.

For the current session, or for NIFT 2024, the written exams will be conducted in 60 cities. In comparison, in the previous edition, the exam was conducted in 37 cities.

The NID entrance exam has two written exams - the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and the General Ability Test (GAT).

The GAT is common for all programs. However, if the candidate is seeking admission to the M.Des program, he also needs to take the CAT.

The DAT Prelims exam will be conducted on December 24, 2024.

The 1st phase of the NIFT 2024 entrance exam includes the written exams - GAT and CAT.
